The Raiders of the Lost Ark:
Indiana Jones had over 10 leather jackets, including Harrison Ford's and the stuntmen's. To age them, costume designer Deborah used a Swiss Army knife and a wire brush.
The same process was done with the typically Australian Indian hat. Harrison and Deborah sat down and stepped on it several times, to give the impression of a weathered object.
In one of the cave scenes, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and the production put a thousand snakes on the set. But Spielberg thought little because the place was big. They doubled the number, but even so, they were not satisfied with the visual result. Result: seven thousand snakes participated in the scene. The production turned to snake breeders across Europe - the film was being shot in England.
In the famous scene where Indiana faces a cobra, there is a huge glass between Harrison and the venomous one. And it was a good thing they put the division in place: she dilated her neck, tilted her head and threw poison into the glass.

Alfred Molina, who in Raiders of the Lost Ark played Satipo, the Indiana guide, made a frightening scene, covered by tarantulas. More than 20 years later, he played the villainous Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man 2.
Vic Armstrong, one of many stunt doubles for Harrison Ford in the trilogy, was chosen for the first film because he looked so much like the actor. He was a stunt double in Raiders of the Lost Ark, a studio stunt double in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and stunt coordinator in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Vic is married to Wendy Leach, stunt double for Kate Capshaw (Willie Scott in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom) and other actresses in the trilogy.

The name Indiana was chosen by George Lucas, who had a dog named that. At first, the hero would be called Indiana Smith, but Steven Spielberg didn't like it.
Tim Matheson, Peter Coyote and Tom Selleck auditioned to play Indiana Jones. Selleck came to please the producers, only he was cast at the same time to play Magnum in the television series. Harrison Ford was one of the first names thought up by Steven Spielberg, but, having already acted in Star Wars, George Lucas was reluctant to call him again. But Spielberg insisted and he was chosen.

just saw this article - Raiders of the Lost Ark, in its first run, played for over a year at the Grossmont theater in San Diego. there was also a "birthday Party" for it to celebrate. The reason it left the Grossmont? It was pulled weeks before it was scheduled to be re-released. Go figure!
A lot of cool trivia. Fun stuff!
I didn't know about these, it's amazing how to produce a movie how many unusual things happen.
I love these stories, when I was little my dad used to tell me some trivia before watching a movie and I really got really excited to watch the movies =)
