The film V/H/S/Halloween is the eighth installment in the popular found-footage anthology horror franchise, and is entirely centered around the holiday of Halloween. The film is presented as a collection of Halloween-themed videotapes that, when played, unleash a series of twisted and gory tales. Its exclusive streaming premiere was on October 3, 2025 through the Shudder platform.

La película V/H/S/Halloween es la octava entrega de la popular franquicia de terror antológica de metraje encontrado, y está completamente centrada en la festividad de Halloween. La cinta se presenta como una colección de cintas de video con temática de Halloween que, al ser reproducidas, desatan una serie de cuentos retorcidos y sangrientos. Su estreno exclusivo en streaming fue el 3 de octubre de 2025 a través de la plataforma Shudder.

This horror movie was one of the ones I was most looking forward to this year, and I analyzed its first trailer when it came out with the announced directors in the post: V/H/S/ Halloween | Official trailer | A taste before October, with the filmography background of each one and my prediction of what they would do and what to expect, although I am wrong in the names of the shorts each director would direct, no story disappointed.

Esta película de terror era unas de las que yo más esperaba este año de la que analice su primer tráiler cuando salió con los directores anunciados es el post: V/H/S/ Halloween | Official trailer | A taste before October, con los antecedentes filmográficos de cada uno y mi pronostico de que harían y que esperar, aunque me equivoque en los nombres de los cortos dirigiría cada director, ninguna historia decepciono.

This segment serves as the anthology's overarching story. A group of people find themselves in a laboratory setting participating in a clinical trial for a new soft drink. The test subjects record their experiences while consuming the experimental beverage, unaware that the side effects go far beyond what anyone could imagine.

Este segmento sirve como la historia envolvente de la antología. Un grupo de personas se encuentra en un entorno de laboratorio donde están participando en un ensayo clínico para un nuevo refresco. Los sujetos de prueba graban sus experiencias mientras consumen la bebida experimental, sin saber que los efectos secundarios van mucho más allá de lo que nadie podría imaginar.

The connecting story of the other shorts with a curious fact seems inspired by one of the entities of the SCP Foundation Universe in particular: Scp-2107 with a simple story and a predictable ending but it is very entertaining to watch because it shows us many deaths in different ways with different special effects. Director Bryan M. Ferguson did not disappoint with the gore and blood in the story, evoking a lot of that morbidity of watching horror movies and predicting how the characters will die with each can they drink and that final scene of the film where you see a commercial where they got the correct formula to market the drink, a very good visual spectacle and although it can be called unoriginal to use the idea of ​​​​The SCP Foundation as a fan I would like to see other SCP shorts on VHS or in a series/movie of its own on Shudder.

La historia conectora de los demás corto con un dato curioso parece inspirada en una de las entidades de Universo de La fundación SCP en específico: Scp-2107 con una historia simple y con un final predecible pero que es muy entretenido de ver porque nos muestra muchas muertes de diferentes formas con distintos efectos especiales. El director Bryan M. Ferguson no decepción con el gore y sangre en la historia evocando mucho ese morbo de ver películas de terror y predecir como morirán los personajes con cada lata que beben y esa escena final de la película donde se ve un comercial donde si consiguieron la formula correcta para comercializar la bebida, un espectáculo visual muy bueno y aunque se puede tachar de poco original usar la idea de La fundación SCP como fan me gustaría ver otras cortos de los SCP en VHS o en una serie/película propia en Shudder.

What begins as a trick-or-treating adventure turns into a claustrophobic nightmare.

Dos chicas jóvenes, en busca de dulces de Halloween, se sienten atraídas por una casa excepcionalmente extraña en su vecindario. Deciden entrar para ver qué pueden encontrar, solo para descubrir que la casa está habitada por una presencia perturbadora y grotesca con una obsesión enfermiza por los bebés y la maternidad. Lo que comienza como una aventura de trato o truco se convierte en una pesadilla claustrofóbica.

The first short of the film and which is a good start with a gallery of Monsters interesting as they are very uncomfortable from the main antagonist with a grotesque prosthetic design, but where the other babies without having so many prosthetics are just as uncomfortable and I found the fat one extremely creepy and with very good details from the decoration, the environment to the demonic hand that is seen at the beginning of the short on the car window. The director brought us a simple but very uncomfortable story on many levels from the visual to subtly touching on that discomfort due to the fetish of adults dressing as babies.

El primer corto de la película y que es un buen inicio con una galería de Montruos interesante al ser muy incomodos desde la antagonista principal con un diseño de prótesis grotesco, pero donde los demás bebes sin tener tanta prótesis son igual de incomodos y me resulto extremadamente creepy el gordo y con detalles muy buenos desde la decoración, el ambiente hasta la mano demoniaca que se ve al comienzo del corto en el vidrio del auto. La directora nos trajo una historia sencilla pero muy incomoda a muchos niveles desde lo visual hasta tocando de manera sutil esa incomodidad por el fetiche de adultos vistiéndose de bebes.

Police body camera footage captures the reconstruction of the events, revealing that what happened at that party defies all logical, earthly explanation.

La policía interroga al único superviviente de una violenta y misteriosa masacre ocurrida durante una fiesta de Halloween. El sobreviviente, visiblemente traumatizado, debe guiar a los oficiales de regreso al lugar del crimen. La grabación de la cámara corporal de la policía capta la reconstrucción de los hechos, revelando que lo que sucedió en esa fiesta desafía toda explicación lógica y terrenal.

The foreign language short of this film, as happened in the previous installment with Dringer, focused on India/Bharat but this time focused on Spain with a fairly classic horror story presented in an interesting way that allows the story to be understood easily even if you don't know Spanish and are only guided by the subtitles. The director did a good job with Ut Supra Sic Infra but being one of the most experienced directors in film, he brought something too similar to his REC film series with a Possessed character who guides others to their deaths. Another curious fact, the bald firefighter costume is a reference to REC.

El corto de idioma extranjero de esta película como paso en la entrega anterior con Dringer centrado en la India/Bharat pero esta vez centrado en España con una historia bastante clásica de terror presentada de manera interesante lo que permite entender la historia de manera fácil si no sabes español y solo te guías con los subtítulos. El director hizo un buen trabajo con Ut Supra Sic Infra pero siendo uno de los directores con más experiencia en la película trajo algo demasiado parecido a su saga de películas REC con un personaje Poseido que guía a otros a sus muertes. Otro dato curioso el disfraz de bombero calvo es una referencia a REC.

Este corto presenta una advertencia muy simple para la noche de Halloween: no tomes más de un dulce del tazón de la entrada. This is the short that most effectively incorporates dark comedy and surrealism. Director Casper Kelly takes a simple, universal rule of trick-or-treating and turns it into a gruesome and violent game of survival. The short is a feast of creative gore and over-the-top reactions, making it the most entertaining and fast-paced featurette in the film. Kelly maintains a frenetic pace and playful tone even when the bloodshed is plentiful, setting it apart from the more serious horror of other segments, making you forgive the protagonists for being silly and want to know more about the antagonist.

Este es el corto que incorpora la comedia negra y el surrealismo de la manera más efectiva. El director Casper Kelly toma una simple y universal regla de truco o trato y la convierte en un macabro y violento juego de supervivencia. El corto es un festín de gore creativo y reacciones exageradas, lo que lo convierte en el más entretenido y rápido de la película. Kelly mantiene un ritmo frenético y un tono lúdico, incluso cuando el derramamiento de sangre es abundante, lo que lo distingue del terror más serio de otros segmentos que te hace perdonar lo tontos que son los protagonistas y querer saber más del antagonista.

Un padre que trabaja en una tienda de videos de seguridad y colecciona metraje de video casero, se obsesiona con la reciente desaparición de una joven en Halloween. Él decide grabar a su propia familia mientras pide dulces, con la esperanza de capturar pistas o incluso al responsable. La grabación se convierte en un registro inquietante que mezcla su investigación con el terror que se esconde a plena vista.

The darkest and most dramatic short of the film based on a more real fear without paranormal forces but something more subtle such as the human evil that has been seen in films like Creep, The Poughkeepsie Tapes or Home Video where the Director focuses on the paranoid and insecurity that clashes with the previous short because this can happen in real life, something I expected from this director but it surprised me because it explores the characters more than other shorts and seeks to show how the characters act in more extreme situations.

El corto más oscuro y dramático de la película basándose en un miedo mas real sin fuerzas paranormales sino algo más sutil como es la maldad humana que se ha visto en películas como Creep, The Poughkeepsie Tapes o Home Video donde el Director se enfoca en la paranoica y la inseguridad que choca con el corto anterior porque esto si puede pasar en la vida real, algo que esperaba de este director pero me sorprendió porque explora más a los personajes que otros cortos y busca mostrar como actúan los personajes en situación más limite.

Una pareja fanática de Halloween instala una casa del terror casera elaborada, llena de accesorios vintage. Cuando uno de los artículos de decoración resulta estar maldito, la pareja y su hijo descubren que los monstruos y las figuras de su casa encantada comienzan a cobrar vida propia. The final short pays homage to other iconic elements of Halloween with a good repertoire of classic monsters. Directors Micheline Pitt-Norman and R.H. Norman focus on the aesthetic of homemade haunted houses, using practical effects and monster designs inspired by the most common and real Halloween nights. The story is a fun exercise in which the decor and props come to life, offering a more direct and physical type of horror. It works as a love letter to the season that combines the spooky with the charm of vintage Halloween culture, and with another curious fact: Rick Baker (master of special makeup effects) had a cameo as the grumpy neighbor

El corto final y homenaje a otros de los elementos más icónicos de Halloween con un buen repertorio de monstruos clásicos. Los directores Micheline Pitt-Norman y R.H. Norman se centran en la estética de las casas embrujadas caseras, utilizando efectos prácticos y diseños de monstruos inspirados en las noches de Halloween más comunes y reales. La historia es un ejercicio divertido en el que la decoración y los accesorios cobran vida, ofreciendo un tipo de horror más directo y físico. Funciona como una carta de amor a la temporada que combina lo espeluznante con el encanto de la cultura vintage de Halloween, y con otro dato curioso es que Rick Baker (maestro de los efectos especiales de maquillaje) tuvo un cameo como el vecino gruñón

OPINION

A very solid and consistent release continuing the streak of good films they have had these years with the latest installments both in quality and narrative polishing the formula more with respect to the previous ones while taking risks being more visceral like showing the death of children and more explicit Gore while giving more visibility to the director to show his potential or being able to show ideas that they could not do in films or series by being smaller and shorter this makes V/H/S Halloween one of the best of the saga leaving me wanting to know what the next installment will be about and what its theme will be.

Una entrega muy solida y consistente siguiendo con la racha de buenas películas que han tenido estos años con las últimas entregas tanto en calidad como narrativa puliendo mas la formula con respecto a las anteriores mientras se arriesgan siendo mas viscerales como mostrar muerte de niños y más Gore explicito mientras dan más visibilidad a director para mostrar su potencial o pudiendo mostrar ideas que no podrían hacer en películas o series al ser más pequeñas y cortas esto hace a V/H/S Halloween una de las mejores de la saga dejándome con ganas de saber de qué será la siguiente entrega y cual será su temática.
