The Notebook(2004) Review!
Makes me cry every single time, true love and a never ending devotion. Whoever finds it, finds the greatest treasure of all times. I'm still wiping tears from my little eyes as I write this review.
This is a love story that has touched hearts around the world just as it has touched mine. Featuring Ryan Gosling & Rachel McAdams, it is a romantic drama based on Nicholas Sparks' bestselling novel and is famed to be one of the most romantic movies of all time.
It's about the incredible love story of Noah(Ryan Gosling) and Allie(Rachel McAdams), two young lovers from different social backgrounds who fall deeply in love one summer in 1940s South Carolina. They showed that love was something worth fighting for no matter the odds against it.
Noah was from a poor home while allie was a wealthy woman. They soon fall deeply in love with each other. Of course Allie's parents did not approve of the relationship and forces her to leave town after Summer.
Though they were separated, Noah writes to Allie everyday for one year but the letters got intercepted by Allie's Mom.....
Now Allie is engaged and all set to marry Lon, a charming young man of the same social class with her but then a photograph of Noah standing in front of a finished house shows up in the newspaper.
They meet again and their chemistry is reignited, their love blooms once again and Allie choses Noah over Lon, following her heart.
Theirs is a story of "growing old together" and being together till the very end.
Noah, a heart attack patient, sneaks into Allie’s hospital room, and in a deeply touching ending, they hold hands and peacefully pass away together in their sleep. They were united in death, just as they were in life.
I cried so hard!
My review;
The chemistry between Gosling and McAdams is electric, making their on-screen romance feel raw and real. Though their love faces the obstacles of class differences, parental opposition, and the harsh realities of life, the story’s heart lies in their unyielding devotion to each other over the years and even through old age, sickness and memory loss.
Visually, the film is outstanding, especially the golden summer days by the lake and the passionate, rain-soaked kiss that has become iconic in cinema history. The music is soft piano melodies which enhances the emotional pull of the narrative.
It's a 9/10 rating for a classic that never tires me out.
