Había escuchado en su momento acerca de esta película, sin embargo, no tuve la oportunidad de verla hasta ahorita. Como esas cosas buenas que llegan, de cierta manera, en el momento justo para ser disfrutadas. Fue así como me topé con "Finch", largometraje dirigido por Miguel Sapochnik y protagonizada por uno de los actores más distintivos del cine, Tom Hanks. Esta película es una buena propuesta de ciencia ficción, de esas tantas cintas que han tocado el tema de la amenaza inminente a la vida, en el planeta tierra. Que de alguna manera han sido provocadas, por el impacto de tantos años de explotación de la actividad del hombre.

I had heard about this movie at the time, however, I didn't have the opportunity to see it until now. Like those good things that come, in a certain way, at the right time to be enjoyed. That's how I came across "Finch", a feature film directed by Miguel Sapochnik and starring one of the most distinctive actors in cinema, Tom Hanks. This film is a good science fiction proposal, one of those many films that have touched the theme of the imminent threat to life on planet Earth. That in some way have been caused by the impact of so many years of exploitation of man's activity.

Se estrenó en la plataforma Apple TV+, en noviembre de 2021, combina elementos de supervivencia y un tema tan popular en la actualidad como lo es la inteligencia artificial. Se muestra además un emotivo amor por los animales, especialmente los perros. Cuenta una narrativa bastante sencilla, pero a la vez muy conmovedora, hasta el punto de destacar por su calidez dramática y las interpretaciones de su elenco. Destacando especialmente Hanks, quien es el que carga con el peso emocional de la historia de manera satisfactoria.

Released on the Apple TV+ platform in November 2021, it combines elements of survival and the currently popular topic of artificial intelligence. It also shows a touching love for animals, especially dogs. It tells a fairly simple narrative, but at the same time very touching, to the point of standing out for its dramatic warmth and the performances of its cast. Hanks is the one who carries the emotional weight of the story in a satisfactory way.

La película cuenta la historia de Finch Weinberg (interpretado por el actor Tom Hanks), quien es un ingeniero robótico que vive en un mundo devastado por un colapso climático, tras una tormenta solar que ha arrasado con gran parte de la humanidad. Finch se hace acompañar de su fiel perro Goodyear y refugiándose en un búnker crea a Jeff. Un introvertido robot que cuenta con inteligencia artificial, diseñado con el fin de proteger a su mascota tras su inminente muerte, debido a una enfermedad terminal que lo hacía padecer.

The film tells the story of Finch Weinberg (played by actor Tom Hanks), a robotic engineer living in a world devastated by climate collapse after a solar storm wipes out much of humanity. Finch is accompanied by his faithful dog Goodyear and, taking refuge in a bunker, he creates Jeff. An introverted robot with artificial intelligence, designed to protect his pet after his imminent death, due to a terminal illness that made him suffer.

La historia transcurre durante un viaje por carretera, a través de un Estados Unidos desolado, donde Finch, Jeff y Goodyear tienen que enfrentar diversos peligros. Mientras van luchando por la supervivencia, el robot, con la supervisión de Finch, aprende sobre la humanidad, el amor y la amistad. Hablando claro, uno de los atractivos de esta película, es la actuación de Tom Hanks, quien le aporta una humanidad cruda, pero a la vez sensible y vulnerable con su personaje. Su interpretación es un regalo espectacular y transmite una gran energía emotiva, al mostrar la realidad de un hombre solitario que se encuentra enfrentando su mortalidad.

As they struggle for survival, the robot, under Finch's supervision, learns about humanity, love and friendship. Speaking plainly, one of the attractions of this film is the performance of Tom Hanks, who brings a raw, yet sensitive and vulnerable humanity to his character. His performance is a spectacular gift and conveys a great emotional energy, showing the reality of a lonely man facing his mortality.

Estos y otros detalles importantes, considero que son el corazón de la película, como también lo son la relación entre Finch y Goodyear. La cual es especialmente atractiva y conmovedora, logrando hacerse eco en la comunidad de los amantes a los animales, mostrando importancia de su cuidado y protección. Jeff, el robot que es interpretado por Caleb Landry Jones, le añade un toque de humor y ternura a la película.

These and other important details, I believe, are the heart of the film, as is the relationship between Finch and Goodyear. It is especially engaging and touching, resonating with the animal-loving community, showing the importance of their care and protection. Con este peculiar comportamiento infantil, matizado por su torpe aprendizaje sobre el mundo. De cierta manera sorprende la química que ocurre entre estos tres personajes claves, que son el eje fundamental de la narrativa que ofrece momentos de humanidad, en un entorno bastante desolador. Finch impresiona visualmente con el uso de sus efectos especiales, aunque prácticamente no necesita de estos recursos narrativos para ser atractiva.

With this peculiar childish behavior, tinged by their awkward learning about the world. In a way, the chemistry that occurs between these three key characters is surprising, and they are the backbone of the narrative that offers moments of humanity in a rather desolate environment. Finch impresses visually with its use of special effects, although it hardly needs these narrative resources to be attractive.
