Xiaomi en Cuba: la historia detrás de una marca (es/en)

Hola, amigos de #Hive, y especialmente un abrazo para todos mis hermanos de la comunidad @hivecuba. Espero que se encuentren bien, dentro de lo que cabe entre tanta locura como la que se vive en estos últimos meses. Precisamente, con este vaivén, se me había pasado contarles sobre algo bueno que me pasó, sí, para variar.

Cambié finalmente de teléfono. Esto era algo que tenía que haber hecho desde hace mucho tiempo. Pero a veces queremos que estos aparatos nos duren toda la vida, influenciados por lo inalcanzables que son estos equipos en nuestro país. Pero cuando tu teléfono comienza a dar señales de deterioro, no puedes esperar.

No tengo la fecha exacta, pero estoy más que seguro de que llevaba con mi anterior teléfono fácilmente cinco años, quizás un poco más. Este ha sido, sin lugar a dudas, mi segundo mejor teléfono, el Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 S. Desde que me lo compré, supuse que tenía un buen terminal en mis manos, ya que mi anterior teléfono fue un Xiaomi Redmi 8.

Por lo que el salto tecnológico en ese momento se hacía sentir bastante. Quizás no era la gran cosa, comparado con los que mandaban en el mercado. Pero para mí, era lo mejorcito a lo que le podía llegar en ese momento. Este teléfono estuvo batallando conmigo, dándolo todo entre sus capacidades, y puedo decir que cumplió por mucho mis expectativas.

Porque la verdad es que no sé cómo resistió tanto esfuerzo de trabajo, porque para nosotros, los creadores de contenido, un teléfono es más que un dispositivo para comunicarnos. En mi caso fue una herramienta vital, y se hizo mucho más necesaria cuando finalmente encontré a Hive.

Aquí fue donde de verdad se puede decir que batalló duro, contra la mala cobertura de mi país y todas las exigencias de las aplicaciones en la web3. Pero el tiempo y algún que otro rasguño comenzaron a hacer lo suyo en su usabilidad. Pero su historia no terminó con la compra de un nuevo teléfono, para nada.

Ahí está igualito, lo tengo con una línea móvil de mi casa, que es solo para hacer y recibir llamadas, los llamados TFA (teléfonos de 400 minutos). Como mismo lo dejé hace casi dos meses, cuando me llegó desde Venezuela en el equipaje de un amigo de mi hermano, el Xiaomi Redmi Note 14.

De este nuevo teléfono, decirles que fue un salto necesario, ya que mi anterior terminal me estaba fallando en algunas partes de la pantalla. Lo que me hacía un martirio editar mis publicaciones para Hive, ya que todo lo hago con el teléfono. Creo que si no fuera por el detalle del táctil, seguiría con el anterior, que ni tan siquiera ha dado problema con la batería, que es por donde primero comienzan a desgastarse.

Pero cuando supe que tenía que cambiar de teléfono, escogí, por obvias razones, continuar con la misma marca, Xiaomi, y manteniendo la serie Redmi Note, como mi anterior. En el poco tiempo que he tenido este nuevo dispositivo en mis manos, no tengo ninguna queja. El salto de un Redmi Note 10 a un Redmi Note 14 se hace ver bastante y en parte eso se agradece.

Al menos en funcionalidad, mantiene prácticamente lo mismo a lo que ya estaba acostumbrado con el anterior. Me gusta cómo Xiaomi continúa apostando por mantener el sensor infrarrojo, que permite utilizarlo como mando a distancia y que para mí esto se me hizo de mucha utilidad.

También tiene una buena RAM y almacenamiento interno, lo que me será bastante útil y sobre todo lo siento bastante rápido. Con el tema de agarrar conexión tenía mis dudas, porque estos equipos últimamente, cuanto más evolucionan, más engorroso se hace conectarlos en la anémica conexión que tenemos en Cuba, pero se puede decir que pasó la prueba.

Se siente bien poder editar el contenido de mi #blog cómodamente y sin contratiempos. Solo espero que, con el mismo cuidado que tuve con el anterior, este nuevo teléfono me dure lo más que pueda. Para eso, desde que se me entregó, le compré su mica para la pantalla y, aunque traía un cover de regalo por la compra, también le encargué un cover mucho más fuerte.

Ya que toda medida de seguridad no está de más, si queremos que estos dispositivos nos deleiten por varios años con una vida útil. Pero lo que más me ha gustado de la compra de estos dos teléfonos es que ambos los adquirí con mi propio esfuerzo. Tanto de mis propios ahorros como de los frutos de años en la interacción con las criptomonedas.

Siento que aún me faltan muchas bondades por explorar del Xiaomi Redmi Note 14, como la cámara, comportamiento con mis juegos favoritos y demás. Pero la verdad es que no soy tan exigente en ese sentido, por lo que me siento contento y agradecido con esta nueva adquisición. Que tengan un bonito día.

Precisely because of all this turmoil, I had forgotten to tell you about something good that happened to me, yes, for a change.

I finally changed my phone. This was something I should have done a long time ago. But sometimes we want these devices to last us a lifetime, influenced by how unattainable they are in our country. But when your phone starts to show signs of deterioration, you can't wait.

I don't have the exact date, but I'm pretty sure I had my previous phone for at least five years, maybe a little longer. This has been, without a doubt, my second-best phone, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 S. Since I bought it, I assumed I had a good device in my hands, as my previous phone was a Xiaomi Redmi 8.

So the technological leap at that time was quite noticeable. Perhaps it wasn't a big deal compared to the market leaders. But for me, it was the best I could get at the time. This phone struggled with me, giving it its all, and I can say that it far exceeded my expectations.

Because the truth is, I don't know how it withstood so much hard work, because for us content creators, a phone is more than just a device for communication. In my case, it was a vital tool, and it became even more necessary when I finally found Hive.

This is where you could really say it struggled hard, against the poor coverage in my country and all the demands of web3 applications. But time and the occasional scratch began to take their toll on its usability. But its story didn't end with the purchase of a new phone, not at all.

It's still there, I have it with a mobile line from my house, which is only for making and receiving calls, the so-called TFA (400-minute phones). Just as I left it almost two months ago, when it arrived from Venezuela in the luggage of a friend of my brother's, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14.

This new phone was a necessary upgrade, as my previous device was failing in some parts of the screen. This made editing my posts for Hive a nightmare, as I do everything on my phone. I think if it weren't for the touchscreen issue, I would still be using the old one, which hasn't even had any battery problems, which is where they usually start to wear out first.

But when I knew I had to change my phone, I chose, for obvious reasons, to stick with the same brand, Xiaomi, and keep the Redmi Note series, like my previous one. In the short time I've had this new device in my hands, I have no complaints. The leap from a Redmi Note 10 to a Redmi Note 14 is quite noticeable, and in part that is appreciated.

At least in terms of functionality, it remains practically the same as what I was used to with the previous one. I like how Xiaomi continues to maintain the infrared sensor, which allows it to be used as a remote control, something that I found very useful.

It also has good RAM and internal storage, which will be quite useful to me, and above all, I find it quite fast. I had my doubts about the connection, because lately, the more these devices evolve, the more cumbersome it becomes to connect them to the anaemic connection we have in Cuba, but I can say that it passed the test.

It feels good to be able to edit the content of my #blog comfortably and without any setbacks. I just hope that, with the same care I took with the previous one, this new phone will last me as long as possible. To that end, as soon as I got it, I bought a screen protector for it, and although it came with a free cover, I also ordered a much stronger cover.

Every security measure helps if we want these devices to delight us for several years with a long useful life. But what I liked most about buying these two phones is that I purchased both of them with my own money. Both from my own savings and from the fruits of years of interaction with cryptocurrencies.

I feel that there are still many features of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 that I have yet to explore, such as the camera, how it performs with my favourite games, and so on. But the truth is that I'm not that demanding in that regard, so I'm happy and grateful for this new acquisition. Have a nice day.
