Muchos ustedes ya conocen el amor que le tengo con la década del 90 dado el hecho que es donde crecí y que me dio muchos de mis más añorados recuerdos. No ponemos en duda que los 90 supieron dejar su encanto y su huella y me atrevería a decir que en todo lo que se hacían: música, películas, series de tv o los mismos dibujos animados que por supuesto, es lo que más recuerdo de mi niñez y pre adolescencia. Esto es algo que intento heredar a la niña de la casa, Luna.

Many of you already know how much I love the ’90s, since that’s when I grew up and it gave me many of my fondest memories. There’s no doubt that the ’90s left their mark and charm, and I’d go so far as to say that this was true of everything produced back then: music, movies, TV shows, and even cartoons—which, of course, are what I remember most from my childhood and early teens. This is something I’m trying to pass on to the little girl in our house, Luna.

Revivir estos recuerdos junto a ella es sumamente hermoso y divertido sobre todo porque en ocasiones como algunas de las comiquitas que le presento a Luna no se ven tan nítidas como ya son las de esta época, creo que rechazará verla pero no, ha pasado todo lo contrario. Ella queda totalmente hipnotizada frente el tv. Tal como pasó con la película ¨Querida encogí a los niños¨ La cual pensé que no le gustaría pero quedó tan fascinada que la ha vuelto a pedir. A diferencia de esta época actual con la mía es que definitivamente estas nuevas series animadas evitar situaciones de riesgos, locura y comedia un poco oscura. No creo que todos lo que hemos crecido en los 90 estemos tan mal por ver Pinky y cerebro o Ren y Stimpy. Esto solo por mencionar algo.

Reliving these memories with her is incredibly beautiful and fun, especially because sometimes—like with some of the old cartoons I show Luna—they aren’t as clear as the ones from today. I thought she’d refuse to watch them, but no, the opposite has happened. She’s completely mesmerized in front of the TV. Just like with the movie Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, which I thought she wouldn’t like, but she was so fascinated that she’s asked to watch it again. The difference between today’s shows and the ones from my time is that these new animated series definitely avoid risky situations, craziness, and slightly dark comedy. I don’t think all of us who grew up in the ’90s are so bad off for watching Pinky and the Brain or Ren and Stimpy. Just to name a few.

Cabe destacar que fue WB el estudio que se colocó a la vanguardia de la animación y lidero la generación de los 90 con sus series animadas comenzando con Tiny Toons, una serie cuyo éxito abrió las puertas a la creación de Animaniacs y otras más. Sin mencionar al conejo más famoso de la Tv luego de Mickey Mouse. Sí amigos hablo de Bugs Bunny quien junto a sus grandes amigos fueron sin duda parte de nuestra niñez, de nuestras aventuras y platicas repletas de risas.

It’s worth noting that WB was the studio that pushed the boundaries of animation and led the way in the ’90s with its animated series, starting with Tiny Toons, a show whose success paved the way for Animaniacs and other series. Not to mention the most famous rabbit on TV after Mickey Mouse. Yes, friends, I’m talking about Bugs Bunny, who, along with his great friends, was undoubtedly part of our childhood, our adventures, and our conversations filled with laughter.

Teníamos varios domingos sin ponerle a Luna caricaturas de nuestra década y hoy nos propusimos darle otra cucharada para que siguiera gustándole este antiguo sabor de diversión. Hoy nos dirigimos justamente a los estudios de WB para tener un domingo como los que nos gustaba a mí y Doris, disfrutando de las locas aventuras de los Looney tunes. Empezamos con el alocado conejo y llegamos divirtiéndonos Tasmania junto a uno de los personajes más polémicos de los estudios después del Pato Lucas. La verdad es que me alegra ver esos ojos llenos de alegrías, que su sonrisa brille y que aun así, no se sienta como de vidrio ja ja ja… ¿Si me entienden? En fin, sigo creyendo que hoy los niños necesitan de estas antiguas obras o que opinan ustedes: ¿Está bien que Luna vea estas comiquitas o la dejo viendo Peppa la puerquita?

It had been a few Sundays since we’d shown Luna cartoons from our generation, so today we decided to give her another taste of that old-fashioned fun. Today we headed straight to the WB studios to have a Sunday just like the ones Doris and I used to love, enjoying the crazy adventures of the Looney Tunes. We started with the crazy rabbit and ended up having fun with Taz alongside one of the studio’s most controversial characters after Daffy Duck. The truth is, I’m glad to see those eyes full of joy, to see her smile shine, and that even so, it doesn’t feel like it’s made of glass, ha ha ha… You know what I mean? Anyway, I still believe that kids today need these old classics. What do you think: Is it okay for Luna to watch these cartoons, or should I let her watch Peppa Pig instead?
