Pasé horas interminables frente al televisor maravillado con cada nueva versión, descubriendo mundos, pasadizos secretos y por supuesto, disfrutando de esas melodías pegajosas que se grabaron mi mente de por vida Pero lo mejor de esa época no era solo el juego en sí, sino compartirlo. Mario Bros era el punto de encuentro en mi hogar, de horas de risas, de pasarnos el control, de celebrar cuando lográbamos vencer a Bowser y de molestarnos sanamente en familia. I spent endless hours in front of the TV, marveling at each new version, discovering worlds and secret passages, and of course, enjoying those catchy tunes that have stayed with me forever. But the best part of that time wasn’t just the game itself it was sharing it. Mario Bros. was the gathering point in my home hours of laughter, passing the controller back and forth, celebrating when we managed to defeat Bowser, and having some good-natured family banter. Although sometimes my sister and I got a little too intense, and on occasion we turned into professional wrestlers, ha ha ha…

Ahora décadas después ver nuevamente a esos mismos bigotones en una película con gráficos de otro nivel, con voces de verdad, con una historia que contar ha sido una experiencia increíble. Me gustado haber podido jugar todos estos nuevos mundos después de Mario Galaxy en la Wii pero mi inclinaciones se fueron más a la Xbox debido a que el mismo Wii me decepcionó mucho. Lo mejor de todo es que ahora comparto este mundo con mi hija Luna, que me mira raro cuando digo "el mundo 8-4" como si fuera un lugar real. Y sí, me emocioné cuando apareció el castillo. Y sí, canté el tema subterráneo emocionado.

Now, decades later, seeing those same mustachioed characters again in a movie with next-level graphics, real voices, and a story to tell has been an incredible experience. I enjoyed being able to play all these new worlds after Mario Galaxy on the Wii, but I ended up leaning more toward the Xbox because the Wii itself really disappointed me. Best of all, I now share this world with my daughter Luna, who gives me a weird look when I say “World 8-4” as if it were a real place. And yes, I got emotional when the castle appeared. And yes, I sang the underground theme with excitement.

Porque al final Mario no es solo un videojuego, es un pasaporte directo a cuando la vida era más simple: solo tú, un control con cable y la promesa de que la princesa estaba en otro castillo. Al culminar la película me di cuenta de que Mario Bros ha logrado algo increíble, trascender generaciones porque lo que comenzó para mí como unos cuantos pixeles en la sala de mi casa hoy es un fenómeno global que sigue uniendo a familias, solo que ahora con una tecnología que sin duda ha revolucionado el mundo del cine.

Because, in the end, Mario isn't just a video game it's a direct ticket back to a time when life was simpler: just you, a wired controller, and the promise that the princess was in another castle. As the movie ended, I realized that Mario Bros. has achieved something incredible: transcending generations. What began for me as a few pixels in my living room is now a global phenomenon that continues to bring families together only now with technology that has undoubtedly revolutionized the world of cinema.

Para mí esta película no fue solo entretenimiento, fue un viaje en el tiempo, un homenaje a mi niñez, a la música que me formó y a esos momentos inolvidables con mi familia. No creo que haya una tercera pues en esta nueva se han jugado todas las cartas, y si pensaran en esa idea, espero que no terminen acabando el negocio de los plomeros.

For me, this movie wasn't just entertainment; it was a trip down memory lane, a tribute to my childhood, to the music that shaped me, and to those unforgettable moments with my family. I don't think there will be a third one, since they've played all their cards in this latest installment, and if they were to consider that idea, I hope they don't end up putting plumbers out of business.
