🎬My opinion about: How to Train Your Dragon (Live Action)🐉✨ [Eng-Esp]

There are several topics that completely grab my attention: cats, fantasy and science fiction stories, information on ancient civilizations, the vastness of the universe, the complexity of the human mind... and dragons🔥 (and I could go on and on with that list). Everything about ancient mythologies is fascinating, and that's where dragons come in. Did these creatures exist at any given time in history? We don't know, but I will always prefer to believe they did.

Therefore, all the stories captured in books, series or movies, even documentaries, that make reference to these majestic creatures, gain my attention. Especially when they are as wonderful as “How to Train Your Dragon”✨ These animated movies are among my favorites, I would never get tired of watching them despite knowing even the dialogues, so I was going to be very critical if the live action did not respect their essence... But it didn't need to, because I fell in love with it from the first minute ❤️

Hay diversos temas que llaman completamente mi atención: gatos, historias de fantasía y ciencia ficción, información de civilizaciones antiguas, la amplitud del universo, la complejidad de la mente humana... y los dragones🔥 (y podría continuar con esa lista). Todo acerca de mitologías antiguas es fascinante, y allí entran los dragones. ¿Estas criaturas existieron en algún momento dado de la historia? No lo sabemos, pero yo siempre preferiré creer que sí.

Por ende, todas las historias plasmadas en libros, series o películas, incluso documentales, que hagan referencia a esas majestuosidades, ganan mi atención. Especialmente cuando son tan maravillosas como "Cómo entrenar a tu dragón"✨ Estas películas animadas están dentro de mis favoritas, jamás me cansaría de verlas a pesar de conocer hasta los diálogos, así que iba a ser muy crítica si el live action no respetaba su esencia... Pero no hizo falta, porque me enamoró desde el primer minuto ❤️

Before you think: “oh, another live action,” stop! This is not just another one. The story follows Hiccup, a young Viking boy who lives in a village where dragon slaying is the regional sport. The problem is that Hiccup doesn't fit into those standards: no weapons training, more intellectual than warrior, and with zero desire to harm another creature.

Everything changes when he meets Toothless, a “Night Fury” -one of the most feared dragons- whom he manages to hurt, but instead of killing him, he decides to help him. From there, a friendship is born that defies the rules of their world, and that will change not only the way Hiccup sees dragons... but how his entire village sees them both.

This live action takes all the essence of this story, and brings it back to the big screen, but with a visual realism that makes you feel that dragons really exist. And if you cried with the animated version, get ready to do it again.

Antes de que pienses: "ay, otro live action", ¡detente!. Este no es otro cualquiera. La historia sigue a Hipo, un joven vikingo que vive en una aldea donde matar dragones es el deporte regional. El problema es que Hipo no encaja dentro de esos estándares: no entrena con armas, más intelectual que guerrero, y con cero ganas de hacerle daño a otra criatura.

Todo cambia cuando conoce a Chimuelo, un "Furia Nocturna" -uno de los dragones más temidos- al que logra herir, pero en lugar de asesinarlo, decide ayudarlo. A partir de ahí nace una amistad que desafía las reglas de su mundo, y que cambiará no solo la forma en que Hipo ve a los dragones... sino cómo toda su aldea los ve a ambos.

Este live action toma toda la esencia de esta historia, y la lleva nuevamente a la pantalla grande, pero con un realismo visual que te hace sentir que los dragones realmente existen. Y si lloraste con la versión animada, ve preparándote para hacerlo de nuevo.

If I had to define this live action with just one word it would be: respect. From the very first minute, the movie grabbed me as it started exactly like the animated version, with that iconic monologue by Hiccup about Berk and his world of dragons. The setting is so faithful that it felt like I was watching the animated version.... but in the flesh! 😌 The music, the set design, everything was perfectly aligned with the original spirit. Each actor knew how to bring their character to life in a way that felt authentic, but if I have to highlight someone, it would be Astrid: the actress gave it her all, and I fell in love with her interpretation. But Toothless?... he will always be my weakness💖

The relationship between Hiccup and Toothless remains at the heart of this story. Their moments together - from shared (half-regurgitated) fish, to synchronized flights and drawings in the sand - remain just as magical. This film is a gem because it doesn't try to remake what was already perfect, but instead honors it and allows us to fall in love all over again, now in live action.

Si tuviera que definir este live action con una sola palabra sería: respeto. Desde el primer minuto, la película me atrapó al comenzar exactamente igual que la versión animada, con ese monólogo icónico de Hipo sobre Berk y su mundo de dragones. La ambientación es tan fiel que parecía estar viendo la versión animada... ¡pero en carne y hueso!😌 La música, la escenografía, todo estaba perfectamente alineado con el espíritu original. Cada actor supo darle vida a su personaje de una forma que se sintiera auténtica, pero si tengo que destacar a alguien, sería a Astrid: la actriz lo dio todo, y me enamoró con su interpretación. ¿Pero Chimuelo?... siempre será mi debilidad💖

La relación entre Hipo y Chimuelo sigue siendo el corazón de esta historia. Sus momentos juntos —desde los pescados compartidos (medio regurgitados), hasta los vuelos sincronizados y los dibujos en la arena— siguen igual de mágicos. Esta película es una joya porque no intenta rehacer lo que ya era perfecto, sino que lo honra y nos permite volver a enamorarnos, ahora en acción real.

I knew every scene by heart, every dialogue, every twist... so of course I went with a critical eye. And yet, I ended up with a smile from ear to ear✨ The live action of “How to Train Your Dragon” knew how to play with nostalgia without just “copy and paste”. There are changes, of course: longer scenes, new dialogues, small subplots that were not in the original... but all this does not subtract, it adds up. If you already know the story well, you'll notice what's “new”, but it doesn't feel forced or different, more like a natural expansion of Berk's world 🍃

The dragons were a visual delight. Majestic, huge, powerful... and so expressive that they seemed to be looking at you. Toothless is exactly as we remember him, but now with such a realistic texture that you want to pet him (although we know he wouldn't let you, of course🫢).

And yes, the final battle... Beautiful! I thought you couldn't top what we felt in the animated one, but they pulled it off. Seeing the alpha dragon appear on screen was as epic as it was heartwarming. That mix of action, emotion and affection for the characters left me with my eyes shining🥺 In short: this new version not only honors those of us who grew up with the animated one, it also has the potential to make new generations fall in love with it. Because in the end, dragons like these never go out of style😌

Sabía cada escena de memoria, cada diálogo, cada giro... así que por supuesto iba con ojo crítico. Y aún así, terminé con una sonrisa de oreja a oreja✨ El live action de "Cómo entrenar a tu dragón" supo jugar con la nostalgia sin quedarse solo en "copiar y pegar". Hay cambios, claro que sí: escenas que se alargan, nuevos diálogos, pequeñas subtramas que no estaban en la original... pero todo eso no resta, suma. Si ya conoces bien la historia, notarás qué es "lo nuevo", pero no se siente forzado ni diferente, más bien como una expansión natural del mundo de Berk🍃

Los dragones fueron un deleite visual. Majestuosos, enormes, poderosos... y tan expresivos que parecía que te estaban mirando a ti. Chimuelo es exactamente como lo recordamos, pero ahora con una textura tan real que quieres acariciarlo (aunque sabemos que no te dejaría, claro🫢)

Y sí, la batalla final... ¡Bello! Pensé que no se podía superar lo que sentimos en la animada, pero lo lograron. Ver al dragón alfa aparecer en pantalla fue tan épico como conmovedor. Esa mezcla de acción, emoción y cariño por los personajes me dejó con los ojos brillando🥺 En resumen: esta nueva versión no solo honra a quienes crecimos con la animada, también tiene el potencial de enamorar a nuevas generaciones. Porque al final, dragones como estos nunca pasan de moda😌

Do you know that feeling of re-reading a letter you wrote to yourself in childhood? That's what it feels like to watch this live action🍃 The message is still intact: friendship, empathy, breaking prejudices, and learning to see beyond fear. This movie not only brings us back to the magic of Berk, it also reminds us that we can always choose to be brave and fly, even when we don't have wings.

So yes, if you were a fan of the animated version, this movie is a direct hug to our childhood. And if you've never seen any of this story before, I envy you, because you're going to experience for the first time a beautiful story, the kind that stays with you years later. Climb on the back of your imaginary dragon and let this story take you flying✨

Y si nunca habías visto nada de esta historia, te envidio, porque vas a vivir por primera vez una historia preciosa, de esas que se quedan contigo años depués. Sube al lomo de tu dragón imaginario y deja que esta historia te lleve volando✨
