Movie Review ~ The Trade

At first glance when I saw the title of the movie, it gave away like a PIRATE kind of movie but after I was done watching the movie, I realized that it was filled with awesome acting, a lot of laughter, intriguing storyline filled with anticipation and suspense.

After my exams, I have been looking for movies to watch to get myself occupied while I am less busy, so I asked a friend to send me some movies, and she did send me a lot of movies that I took my time to watch but for some reason, THE TRADE wasn't a movie I was looking forward to watching, I guess it was because of the name.

It is a (2023) movie based on a real-life event that has captured my heart because of how well-wrapped it was and how the actors and actresses played their roles so well and easily. How relatable it is to our environment and how it portrays the reality of our situation in Nigeria. The concept of the movie left me in awe.

The Trade* is about an unknown notorious kidnapping gang group that has for years been keeping everyone on their toes including law enforcement, by always kidnapping the rich for a high ransom before they are released back to their families.

Years into years, nobody could pick track of these notorious kidnappers, their gang leader, or their families because they made sure they left no leaf unturned so that they could not be traced.

Unfortunately, as the saying goes "Ninety -nine days is for the thief, one day for the owner.

Eric which was the name of their gang leader undertakes a job that brings the law closer than ever before.

The police started their search after the victim's unexpected escape, and they were able to fish out the gang members but problems set in when they couldn't fish out their gang leader.

Nobody knew what his real name was, nobody had a picture of him, if he had family, or where he lived as they realized that Eric was just a gang name he gave himself. No trace of who he was in a world filled with billions of people, they only had a name that wasn't his real name. Confusion sets in as they begin the search for the unknown gang leader of this notorious kidnapping crew but the search seems to be an unending search.

This movie is one of the best of its kind, you would laugh at the illiteracy of the gang leader and you could question yourself on how he was able to stay with his family members and even the gangs with a mistake about his real identity, his family, or even a picture of him.

It portrayed the reality of corruption as enveloping every high position that we can not tell who is innocent or not.

I would give the movie an 8/10 because it was worth my time, it shows that our movie industry is growing and giving us better as the days passes.
