Una película para todo público, que te invita a reflexionar y te lleva a entender un poco más lo que puede pasar más allá de lo que desde afuera vemos, y así detenernos y mirar, mirar lo que ellos que ven.

"Ther unbreakable Boy", es una película sobre una familia, con un niño autista, pero aquí haremos una pausa: La película inicia mostrando a una pareja que sin pensarlo y estando algo rotos inician una relación porque ¡Estan embarazados! Y sea cual sea las causas, nadie espera que al nacer un niño este venga al mundo con uno o varios diagnósticos, en el caso de Austin, fue así. Un niño con una rara enfermedad en los huesos, lo cuál hacía que tuviera muchas fracturas desde que era muy pequeño y además de esto autista. Algo que ningún padre espera.

La película es la historia de Austin contada por él mismo. Sus fracturas, sus crisis y cómo ve el mundo, tan genial y con demasiado ánimo, sin ver la malicia de los demás o percibir lo malo del mundo, si no siendo simplemente él con sus montones de fracturas. La película muestra el rol de cada padre, una madre que se queda a cuidar a su hijo, mientras el padre trabaja y se pierde el hecho de conocer realmente a Austin y no solo eso, si no que los nuevos temores al tener un segundo hijo, el cuál al final es "normal" como le dice la sociedad que habla de "inclusión".

Austin debe vencer algunos obstáculos, pero más allá de eso, esta pelicula muestra lo que realmente es la inclusión, lo que realmente debemos cambiar. No se trata de adaptar a un niño diferente a este mundo, si no de hacer que el mundo sepa aceptarlos y adaptarse a ellos. Muestra los temores de sus padres, las dificultades en la familia, la pareja y en la parte social. Y aunque tiene muchas criticas, creo que tienes tenemos hijos con alguna condición podemos entenderla más y conectar con el drama, que al parecer se ve como forzar un cierre sin lograr mucho, pero si ves más allá, así como el padre luego ve a Austin, notarás la magia.

Austin es invencible, porque a pesar de tener varios huesos rotos, a pesar de tener que pasar procesos duros, nunca dejó de sonreír y sentir que cada día, cada cosa y cada momento, era el mejor de toda su vida. Nos enseña a apreciar los pequeños detalles, como lo grande que son.

“The Unbreakable Boy” is a film about a family with an autistic child, but let’s pause here. The movie begins by showing a couple who, without planning it and being somewhat broken themselves, start a relationship because—they are expecting a baby! And whatever the circumstances may be, no one expects that when a child is born, they may come into the world with one or several diagnoses. In Austin’s case, that was exactly what happened. He was born with a rare bone condition that caused many fractures from a very young age, and on top of that, he was autistic—something no parent anticipates.

The film is Austin’s story, told by him. His fractures, his crises, and the way he sees the world—so bright, energetic, and full of joy—without noticing malice in others or perceiving the bad in the world, simply being himself, with his countless fractures. The movie shows the role of each parent: a mother who stays home to care for her son while the father works and misses out on truly getting to know Austin. It also reflects their fears when having a second child, who in the end turns out to be “normal,” as society—so loudly advocating for “inclusion”—would label him.

Austin must overcome some obstacles, but beyond that, this movie shows what inclusion truly is, and what we really need to change. It’s not about adapting a different child to this world, but about making the world learn to accept them and adapt to them. It shows the parents’ fears, the family’s struggles, the challenges as a couple, and the social difficulties they face. And although the film has received criticism, I think those of us who have children with certain conditions can understand it better and connect with the drama, which may seem rushed or forced to some viewers. But if you look deeper—just as the father eventually looks at Austin—you’ll notice the magic.

Austin is unbreakable because, despite his many fractures, despite having to go through difficult processes, he never stopped smiling or feeling that every day, every thing, and every moment was the best of his entire life. He teaches us to appreciate the small details, because of how big they truly are.
