La niña callada | Reseña [ESP-ENG]

Hay películas en las que desde el inicio uno ya se predispone a lo que va a suceder. Así es el caso de "La Chica Callada", una pelicula del 2022 que nos muestra el drama de una familia Irlandés, rural y pobre.

Al inicio muestra, la falta de afecto y empatia familiar, y una niña que es enviada a otro lugar con una familia que no conoce, sin derecho a decir una palabra por temor al castigo y en silencio aceptando su destino. Estas primeras escenas causan un poco de suspenso en el espectador, al menos fue mi caso, donde dije: "Oh no, la enviaran con su tía malvada o el tío le hará algun daño a la niña", pero esta pelicula sin duda puede sorprenderte.

Cait, es el nombre de nuestra protagonista, donde Catherine Clinch interpreta a una niña callada de 9 años, que se nota sucia, poco cuidada y además se ve que ha recibido maltrato. Mientras la trama sigue, comienzas a pensar más cosas, ya que hay secretos, misterios y muchas preguntas. Los tíos de Cait no son lo que pensé y tampoco ella, al punto de querer ese hogar como suyo, pero esto le tocó descubrirlo poco a poco, donde si hacía algo que parecía malo, ya no era castigada o maltratada, si no más bien existía para ella una oportunidad de vivir mejor.

There are films in which, from the outset, one is already predisposed to what is going to happen. Such is the case with ‘The Quiet Girl’, a 2022 film that shows us the drama of a poor, rural Irish family.

At the beginning, it shows the lack of affection and empathy within the family, and a girl who is sent away to live with a family she does not know, unable to say a word for fear of punishment and silently accepting her fate. These first scenes create a bit of suspense for the viewer, at least in my case, where I said, ‘Oh no, they're sending her to her evil aunt, or her uncle is going to hurt her,’ but this film can certainly surprise you.

Cait is the name of our protagonist, played by Catherine Clinch, a quiet 9-year-old girl who looks dirty, unkempt and clearly mistreated. As the plot unfolds, you begin to think more deeply, as there are secrets, mysteries and many questions. Cait's aunt and uncle are not what I thought they would be, and neither is she, to the point of wanting that home as her own, but she had to discover this little by little, where if she did something that seemed wrong, she was no longer punished or mistreated, but rather there was an opportunity for her to live a better life.

La niña poco a poco irá cambiando su semblante y seguridad, mientras se adapta a su nueva vida y aún cuando no es del mucho agrado de su tío, irá descubriendo que él en su silencio también guarda dolor por como la vida nos trata a veces. Mientras crece la intriga por saber qué pasará luego con Cait, está descubre el triste secreto de sus tíos y entiende la razón de tanto cariño hacía ella, un cariño que quizás estaba reprimido.

Esta pelicula nos puede dejar muchas enseñanzas, en especial sobre el silencio, aprender a vivir con ello y luego ser libre de lo que causa dolor. También nos muestra un final incierto, pero con una palabra de Cait a su tío que sin duda nos arruga el corazón y puede que te haga llorar como a mí y es que hay historias que aunque no son iguales, pueden ser compartidas en sentimientos y a veces quien ha perdido valora más que quien tiene.

The girl will gradually change her demeanour and confidence as she adapts to her new life, and even though her uncle does not particularly like her, she will discover that his silence also hides pain caused by how life sometimes treats us. As the intrigue grows about what will happen next with Cait, she discovers her aunt and uncle's sad secret and understands the reason for their affection towards her, an affection that was perhaps repressed.

This film can teach us many lessons, especially about silence, learning to live with it and then being free from what causes pain. It also shows us an uncertain ending, but with a word from Cait to her uncle that undoubtedly breaks our hearts and may make you cry like it did me. The fact is that there are stories that, although they are not the same, can be shared in feelings, and sometimes those who have lost value more than those who have.
