Blood Vessel (2023): Movie Review
The movie blood vessel is really an interesting and exciting one that I enjoyed watching every part of the movie. This is a story that have to deal with six people who have their different reasons for leaving their town to runaway to another country as their various reasons is becoming unbearable to them. The six runaways consists of five guys and a lady where two out of them are lovers while the others are two brothers and two friends all seeing themselves in a journey together.
The two lovers who goes by the name Oyin and Abbey are secret lovers which the father of Oyin is not in support with their relationship. The reason behind her father not supporting the relationship is that Oyin who happens to be the only female in this journey, is the only child of her father and before her mother gave birth to her, she pleaded with the water goddess to give her a child due to the fact that she cannot conceive which her request was granted.
However, there is something attached to the birth of Oyin and that is, she won't be able to marry or have an affair with any man or else she will die which is the main reason her father is trying to block Abbey from having an affair with his daughter.
Despite the father's action, the lovers can't do without each other as Oyin is even pregnant for Abbey. However, Oyin told the father about the pregnancy which made him more angry and with that he locked his daughter in a room and tried to look for Abbey.
There was a protest going on in their town where a soldier was killed and this lead to the search of the people who killed the soldier. Oyin's father went to report to the soldiers that it is Abbey who lead the protest which wasn't true and this is just to stop Abbey from seeing his daughter. Abbey eventually went to where Oyin was hidden in a room and rescued her and from there they decided to runaway.
Boma and Degbe are friends, they are responsible for the killing of the soldier and due to the urgent search of the killers they have to run away for their lives. Tekena and Olotu are brothers and the reason why they are fleeing away is because they wanted to secure greener pastures and the only reason for them to achieve their mission is to contact a man called Mr. P who will assist them to travel through a ship but will be hidden in it.
This however was how the six of them came together while escaping when the search of the killers by the soldiers is becoming tough. They hid at the same place and it was from there they all knew that Tekena and Olotu were actually traveling out and with the help of their connection, they all agree to pay Mr. P so they can travel together.
Mr. P at the other hand agreed by helping them which he collected the money from them and hid them in a ship where he told them not to come out and that he will only feed them once. He asked which time will be prefarable for the feeding either morning or night and they all agreed night.
Unfortunately, for them Mr. P never travelled with them as he decided to fake an injury to stay back. The ship eventually left the shore which made them all happy thinking they've escape for good not knowing a bigger problem awaits them. Degbe was hungry to the extent that he can no longer hold it which he decided to go and look for food in the ship and in the process of doing that he was caught.
Abbey also went in search of drugs for Oyin when she started developing symptoms. When Degbe was caught, it lead to the result of bringing the others from hideout, however abbey wasn't with them. At this point, Igor the leader of the ship was curious to know how they got into the ship without their notice and they explained to him that it was Mr. P who gave them the passage to enter after paying him some money.
Igor without hesitation called Mr. P to confirm if they were telling the truth but Mr. P denied. This now lead to Igor's conclusion that they are lying and also they are spies to know about their movement which lead to Igor shooting Degbe at that point and this lead to his death immediately.
The others were in fear as they've notice they are in big trouble. When the ship got to Cape Verde, there were officers who came to check the ship and to their notice they saw where Oyin and the rest hands tired with ropes screaming for help which wanted to make the police officers take action but when Igor asked the leader of the officer to name his price he had no option but to accept the bribe.
When Boma and the rest noticed the officers have betrayed them, he immediately grab a knife and held Igor's sister, placing the knife on her throat and told Igor to let them Igor. Igor at some point wasn't moved because he knew there was no place for them to go so he wasn't that bothered with Boma's action. As Boma was still holding Igor's sister, one of Igor's men tried to shoot him from behind but the bullet hits his Boma's leg and that led to Boma slicing Igor sister's neck which lead to her death.
Igor wasn't happy losing his sister and instead of him to kill Boma immediately, he decided to take him to where he butchers meat in the ship. That evening, Igor brought out Tekena and olotu and told them to fight each other with the price that who ever kills the other would be spared alive. This was a kind of betrayal to the two brothers as they don't want to pick up the challenge.
However, Olotu said he will fight his brother since it requires one of them to survive which Tekena didn't want to however Tekena went to meet Igor to keep to his promise as he said one of them will survive which lead to stabbing himself. Igor never kept to his promise and he shot olotu immediately and threw him in the sea.

It was remaining only Oyin as abbey is still in hideout. Igor then brought out Oyin knowing fully well that one of them is still in hideout and at that process he said he will count up to ten and if abbey didn't come out he will kill her. Hearing this abbey came out so as Igor wouldn't hurt his lover but unfortunately for abbey after showing his face he shot Oyin and she died.
The ending part of the story was between abbey and Igor where they fought each other out at the end and during the process Boma wasn't dead yet because Igor has sliced out almost all his flesh but he gave up after hitting Igor with an iron. At the end of it all, abbey killed Igor, shooting him in the head after remembering his lover's death.
Abbey saw a lot of cash in the ship which he took and then went back to his town to see the deceased family explaining to them about their death and also share the money among them. When he went to Tekena's house to explain the story to the mum, he was surprised to see that Olotu was still alive and back home. He asked how come and Olotu told him that Igor shot him at the leg and threw him in the sea which he used the opportunity to escape.
Oyin's father was the last person abbey went to see which in the process he didn't go alone because he knew oyin's father didn't like him and telling him the news that his daughter is dead will cause more trouble. He eventually went with relative and told the father the news which made him so unhappy and cried out.
At the abbey travelled to the city for a better life but he was lucky oyin's father didn't meet him at home because he came with a gun to kill him but his mission wasn't accomplished.
The movie is really an interesting one that I have to give kudos to the producer and the actors in the movie, they all did are great job in making this movie an awesome one which I also recommend it for people to watch as well
Wow, this movie really took me on an emotional ride. I felt the pain, fear, and desperation of each character like I was right there with them. Such a powerful and heartbreaking story.
Yeah it's really an interesting movie and I enjoy watching it.
