[Movie] The Mongoose (2026) - Review
The Mongoose is a 2026 movie written by Thompson Evans and directed by Mark Vanselow.
It stars Liam Neeson, Marisa Tomei, and Ving Rhames. The film runs for 1 hr 38 min, and the genres are action and thriller.
Ryan Flanagan, also called “Fang” (Liam Neeson), a highly decorated former military veteran, was found at a crime scene where someone was dead.
Instead of surrendering, he took off in a Mustang Shelby Super Snake GT350, a very fast sports car customized with an AI talking device.
His ex-wife, Tara (Marisa Tomei), got worried and asked him to surrender, but Fang had already made up his mind never to surrender due to his previous experience as a captive in his last operation.
His former colleagues intervened along the line when things got tough for him, and like old times, they struggled, fought, and survived together.
One of the outstanding things in the movie is the chase. Liam's skills in driving and his determination never to give up were very impressive.
The idea of moving from tarred roads to rough and rugged terrain also made it unique. It made it quite different from those car racing movies.
The emotional exhibition by Liam and Tara was top-notch; I love the connection the two have; despite being separated, they genuinely cared for each other, holding each other's opinion in high esteem.
This is one of the movies that I enjoyed from the start; I love how the story started with some love talks, making one think it's going to be an intense Romeo and Juliet kind of movie, then suddenly, it was a man with a bullet in his lap, driving furiously from the police.
Honestly, I was really satisfied with the beginning. A good beginning always has a way of getting one's attention and keeping them glued.
For weaknesses, I don't think I have seen anything I was not pleased with aside from the fact that the action was not the way I expected it.
Meanwhile, everything matched the story; if violence was involved during the chase by the police, Liam's innocence would have been countered, and he would have been guilty of a crime.
The film was a good work; it teaches what true love and connection mean. Liam and Tara displayed what it means to love someone.
Distance and divorce were never a reason for their bond to be broken. Regardless of all the challenges, they still found a way to be together even at their old age; their love was fresh.
The end was a happy ending; Liam and his friends narrowly escaped the order that was given to open fire on their helicopter, as a result preserving their lives. However, he and his friends still have to face the law to prove Liam's innocence.
I will recommend the movie to those interested in action and car sports movies; you won't regret watching this.

Liam Neeson is already synonymous with action 😂. I've seen a few of his movies, and I really liked them. Here's another interesting one that's worth watching.
