Hi @jcrodriguez, I completely agree, it's not a horror film. I have no doubt that the film is a great homage to the blues, which is the common thread throughout the entire film.
There are implicit references to Robert Johnson and Howling Wolf, and other explicit ones, like when Delta Slim says that the blues, unlike religion, isn't something imposed, but rather brought by African slaves (from home). Another element that isn't coincidental is the Buddy Guy cameo.
I think if this point is lost, the film loses coherence, becoming divided into two parts... when the film has great internal coherence. Everything is related to everything else, and the film makes sense as a whole.
And speaking of the film, it's a great film. This is my opinion, of course.

Me alegra que gustara esta película, es difícil conseguir algo bueno ante tantas producciones regulares o malas.
Si, recuerdo esa frase del personaje. El cineasta le rinde homenaje al blues. Estuve viendo unas entrevistas y opiniones donde profundizan en todas las referencias al blues.
Musical y visualmente me fascino. Puede abrumar a muchos espectadores por ese cambio brusco de la historia y al final cuenta con varios finales.
Ya esta en mi top de mejores de este año.
También está en mi top del año, pero eso en mi caso es fácil porque hace años que abandoné el cine. No suelo ir al cine más de cinco veces al año.
Pero en el caso de Sinners, tiene un punto que la hace muy especial. No se si recuerdas la serie sobre el Blues producida por Scorsese. En mi opinión, como homenaje, Sinners es bastante más redonda que cualquiera de las películas de esa serie, y eso que The Soul of a Man me pareció una maravilla.
