¡Hola amigos! No saben lo entusiasmada que estaba por ver esta película basada en un libro que amé. Así que hoy les traigo mi reseña acerca de Proyecto Hail Mary.

Hi, everyone! You have no idea how excited I was to see this movie, which is based on a book I loved. So today I’m sharing my review of Project Hail Mary.

La historia comienza con el descubrimiento de que hay algo que está mermando la energía del sol. Tras hacer una investigación y recolectar material espacial de allí para estudiarlo, se llegó a la conclusión de que la energía solar está siendo consumida por unas bacterias alienígenas a las que llaman astrofagos. Ahí el reloj empieza a correr para encontrar una solución al problema y lo encuentran en un planeta que está rodeado de astrofagos, pero es el único que no está infectado. Así que comienza la misión de crear una nave espacial y reclutar personas especializadas para salvar a la Tierra de esta amenaza.

The story begins with the discovery that something is draining the sun's energy. After conducting research and collecting space samples from there for analysis, they concluded that the sun's energy is being consumed by alien bacteria known as astrophages. That’s when the clock starts ticking to find a solution to the problem, and they find it on a planet surrounded by astrophages—but it’s the only one that isn’t infected. So the mission begins to build a spaceship and recruit specialists to save Earth from this threat.

Es una película de ciencia ficción sobre viajes espaciales y un posible fin del mundo. Si la ves sin conocimientos, al principio puede resultar un misterio todo lo que llevó al científico Ryland Grace a ser el único sobreviviente de su tripulación, ya que se encuentra desorientado y sin memoria. Él despierta en el espacio sin saber quién es o qué está haciendo, pero lo irá averiguando a medida que avance la trama y los recuerdos vayan llegando a él de a poco.

It's a science fiction film about space travel and a possible end of the world. If you watch it without any prior knowledge, it may initially seem mysterious why scientist Ryland Grace ended up as the sole survivor of his crew, since he is disoriented and has lost his memory. He wakes up in space without knowing who he is or what he’s doing, but he’ll figure it out as the plot unfolds and his memories gradually return.

La historia no es solo sobre evitar una catástrofe, sino que también hay una bella amistad, y esta es de mis partes favoritas. En su misión, Grace se va a encontrar con otra nave espacial de origen extraterrestre con un ser vivo bastante peculiar con forma de roca al que le pone el nombre de Rocky. Ambos están queriendo descubrir lo mismo, una forma de salvar a sus planetas de esta amenaza que no conoce fronteras, ni límites espaciales, y ambos son los únicos sobrevivientes de sus respectivas tripulaciones. Así que entre los dos se van a acompañar y crearan un lazo muy bonito mientras buscan una solución.

The story isn't just about averting a catastrophe; it also features a beautiful friendship, and this is one of my favorite parts. On her mission, Grace encounters another alien spacecraft containing a rather peculiar, rock-shaped creature whom she names Rocky. Both are trying to discover the same thing: a way to save their planets from this threat that knows no borders or spatial limits, and both are the sole survivors of their respective crews. So the two of them team up and form a beautiful bond as they search for a solution.

Y esta solución llega, aunque antes tendrán que correr grandes riesgos que pondrán en peligro sus vidas. Ambos tendrán esa oportunidad de poder convertirse en la última esperanza de sus planetas para salvarlos a todos.

And this solution is on the way, though first they will have to take great risks that will put their lives in danger. Both will have the chance to become their planets’ last hope for saving everyone.

Es una historia hermosa que no me canso de recomendar, la amé por completo. Es bastante larga, dura 2 horas con 40 minutos, pero valen totalmente la pena. Casi no sentí el tiempo. Es muy linda visualmente, hubiera sido genial verla en el cine con efectos especiales, pero igual se disfruta. Quizá tiene un tono más humorístico y menos catastrófico de lo que cabría esperar, pero a mí me gusto que sea así.

It’s a beautiful story that I never get tired of recommending—I absolutely loved it. It’s quite long, running 2 hours and 40 minutes, but it’s totally worth it. I hardly noticed the time passing. It’s visually stunning; it would have been great to see it in the theater with special effects, but it’s still enjoyable. It might have a more humorous and less catastrophic tone than you’d expect, but I liked it that way.

Sin duda, es una película entrañable con un buen mensaje acerca del valor de la amistad. Adoré a este par, me hicieron reír bastante, y también tuve momentos para sufrir con algunas escenas donde parecía que todo estaba perdido, pero ahí estaba la mano amiga lista para salvarte. Y un poco la amistad es eso, estar para el otro en las buenas y en las malas, como bien se suele decir.

Without a doubt, it’s a heartwarming movie with a great message about the value of friendship. I loved this pair—they had me laughing a lot—and there were also moments when I felt for them in scenes where it seemed like all was lost, but there was always a helping hand ready to save the day. And that’s what friendship is all about: being there for each other through thick and thin, as the saying goes.

Quizá si les quedan detalles que no entienden muy bien o les hace ruido, les recomiendo leer el libro. La adaptación es bastante fiel, pero en el libro se explican mejor muchas cosas y es increíble. Recomiendo su lectura. Hay mucha ciencia, pero está explicado de una manera sencilla y atrapante, sentís que estás aprendiendo un montón, son datos y conocimientos que nunca vienen mal.

If there are any details you don't quite understand or that seem confusing, I recommend reading the book. The adaptation is pretty faithful, but the book explains a lot of things better, and it's incredible. I highly recommend reading it. There's a lot of science involved, but it's explained in a simple and engaging way—you feel like you're learning a ton, and that knowledge never goes to waste.

La verdad es que es una película que recomiendo un montón, es entretenida, visualmente bella y con una banda sonora que acompaña muy bien. No es la mejor trama del mundo, pero está bastante bien. Al menos, yo la disfrute mucho.

The truth is, I highly recommend this movie—it’s entertaining, visually stunning, and has a soundtrack that really complements it. The plot isn’t the best out there, but it’s pretty good. At least, I really enjoyed it.
