¡Hola amigos! Hoy me paso por acá para hablarles acerca de una película basada en un libro que leí hace bastante y acá les traigo la reseña de A pesar de ti.

En esta historia seguimos a Morgan, una mujer que fue madre muy joven y 17 años después se encuentra criando a una hija adolescente con la que tienen diferencias. Un fatídico accidente termina con la vida de su esposo y su hermana que iban juntos en el mismo auto. Allí, Morgan se entera que hace años ellos tienen una aventura y su mundo se cae a pedazos. Tras la tragedia y el secreto que le quiere ocultar a su hija, su relación tiende a resentirse todavía más, y ambas deberán estar más unidas que nunca para enfrentar su nueva realidad.

In this story, we follow Morgan, a woman who became a mother at a very young age and, 17 years later, finds herself raising a teenage daughter with whom she has differences. A fateful accident ends the lives of her husband and sister, who were traveling together in the same car. There, Morgan learns that they had been having an affair for years, and her world falls apart. In the wake of the tragedy and the secret she wants to hide from her daughter, their relationship suffers even more, and the two must be closer than ever to face their new reality.

Una película que nos habla de las segundas oportunidades, el amor entre una madre y una hija y lo difícil de esta etapa de la vida. Se puede decir que esta historia tiene dos protagonistas, Morgan y Clara, y veremos las dos caras de la misma moneda, cómo cada una transita su duelo e intenta comprender lo que sucedió.

A film that tells us about second chances, the love between a mother and daughter, and how difficult this stage of life can be. It could be said that this story has two protagonists, Morgan and Clara, and we see two sides of the same coin, how each one deals with her grief and tries to understand what happened.

Siento que Morgan hizo mal en ocultarle la verdad a su hija, pero se entiende que lo hace para protegerla. Aunque en la película recalcan que ella es muy sobreprotectora y eso es lo que termina alejando a Clara. Ella era muy compinche de su tía Jenny y Morgan quiere cuidar la imagen que ella tiene de ambos. Así que en su lugar prefiere quedar como la mala de la película para evitarle más dolor. Y vemos a Clara, una adolescente que tiene el sueño de ser actriz y está descubriendo el primer amor con toda su inocencia en medio de la tragedia que le tocó vivir, y cada vez más alejada de su madre que no aprueba su relación con Miller por prejuzgarlo.

I feel that Morgan was wrong to hide the truth from her daughter, but it's understandable that she did it to protect her. Although the film emphasizes that she is very overprotective, and that's what ends up driving Clara away. She was very close to her aunt Jenny, and Morgan wants to protect the image Clara has of them both. So instead, she prefers to be the villain in the story to spare her more pain. And we see Clara, a teenager who dreams of becoming an actress and is discovering first love with all her innocence amid the tragedy she has had to endure, growing increasingly distant from her mother, who disapproves of her relationship with Miller because she prejudges him.

Es una película dramática que te hace reflexionar acerca de las relaciones y lo que uno deja de lado por las decisiones que tomó en el pasado. Decisiones que tal vez no fueron las mejores pero eran las que debían seguir en ese entonces. Sin embargo, la vida siempre da nuevas oportunidades y eso es lo mágico de emprender este viaje. La verdad es que me encantó el mensaje que transmitió la película de que nunca es tarde para volver a intentarlo y hacerlo mejor está vez. Dar ese salto de fe y animarse a ser feliz.

It's a dramatic film that makes you reflect on relationships and what you leave behind because of decisions you made in the past. Decisions that may not have been the best, but were the ones you had to make at the time. However, life always gives you new opportunities, and that's the magic of embarking on this journey. I really loved the message conveyed by the film that it's never too late to try again and do better this time. Take that leap of faith and dare to be happy.

La película también tiene sus enredados dignos de telenovelas, pero es una historia de superación y es lindo ver cómo los personajes van rehaciendo sus vidas y logran dejar el pasado atrás. No les voy a mentir, en más de una ocasión me sacaron de quicio, sobre todo Clara. Aunque tiene sus motivos, ser una adolescente es difícil y más cuando acabas de perder a dos personas que querías mucho, pero me desesperaba ver la relación con su madre. Lo bueno es que pudieron salir de ese bache más unidas que nunca. Hasta les diré que al final me emocioné un poco.

The film also has its soap opera-worthy entanglements, but it's a story of overcoming adversity, and it's nice to see how the characters rebuild their lives and manage to leave the past behind. I'm not going to lie, on more than one occasion they drove me crazy, especially Clara. Although she has her reasons, being a teenager is difficult, especially when you've just lost two people you loved very much, but I was frustrated to see her relationship with her mother. The good thing is that they were able to get through that rough patch more united than ever. I'll even tell you that in the end I was a little moved.

Y no se preocupen, no todo es drama. Muchas veces la actitud de Morgan me hizo reír y también hay romance del bueno. Ese que no traiciona y se da una nueva chance. Me gusta mucho eso, aunque puede ser un poco cliché en algunos sentidos y no profundizar demasiado en otros. Para aclarar, la historia no se centra en la infidelidad, sino en el vínculo de esta madre con su hija, y en el sentimiento de perdonar y dejar el rencor atrás para empezar de cero. Es una película que nos recuerda que la vida puede ser efímera y que debemos vivirla lo mejor que podamos, y nos anima a perseguir los sueños.

And don't worry, it's not all drama. Morgan's attitude often made me laugh, and there's also some good romance. The kind that doesn't betray you and gives you a second chance. I really like that, even though it can be a bit cliché in some ways and doesn't go too deep in others. To clarify, the story doesn't focus on infidelity, but on the bond between this mother and her daughter, and on the feeling of forgiving and leaving resentment behind to start over. It's a film that reminds us that life can be fleeting and that we should live it to the fullest, encouraging us to pursue our dreams.

Así que es una historia que recomiendo ver. No es una obra maestra, pero es bastante interesante y deja una enseñanza. Así que la recomiendo.

So it's a story I recommend watching. It's not a masterpiece, but it's quite interesting and teaches a lesson. So I recommend it.
