¡Hola amigos! Hoy les vengo a compartir mi reseña acerca de una película estrenada en la plataforma de Netflix llamada Criaturas luminosas.

Hi, everyone! Today I’m here to share my review of a movie that just premiered on Netflix called Remarkably Bright Creatures.

Trama - Plot

La historia gira en torno a la amistad entre un pulpo rescatado que vive en un acuario y la señora de la limpieza. Tova es una mujer ya mayor que está atravesando un duelo hace mucho tiempo, y de alguna manera logro tener una conexión con este pulpo llamado Marcellus. Él parece leer su corazón y saber lo que necesita para sanar, así que hace de su última misión de vida tratar de alivianar su tristeza. Ve su oportunidad en un joven recién llegado al pueblo en busca de su identidad.

The story revolves around the friendship between a rescued octopus living in an aquarium and the cleaning lady. Tova is an elderly woman who has been grieving for a long time, and somehow she manages to form a connection with this octopus named Marcellus. He seems to read her heart and know what she needs to heal, so he makes it his final mission in life to try to ease her sadness. She sees her chance in a young man who has just arrived in town in search of his identity.

Había leído algunas reseñas previas que me dieron ganas de ver la película y sentí que iba a ser una de esas que me dejan con buenas sensaciones y no me equivoque. Les puedo decir que es una película muy linda, que está muy bien narrada y que tiene una forma particular de contar sobre el duelo, la búsqueda de identidad y las segundas oportunidades. La amistad entre el pulpo y Tova me resultó muy bonita, también que parte de la historia nos la cuenta Marcellus desde sus ojos y su visión del mundo, eso es muy fantasioso, pero efectivo. No sé ustedes, pero yo elijo creer que es así.

I had read a few reviews beforehand that made me want to see the movie, and I had a feeling it would be one of those films that leaves me with a warm, fuzzy feeling—and I wasn’t wrong. I can tell you it’s a really lovely movie, very well told, and it has a unique way of exploring grief, the search for identity, and second chances. I found the friendship between the octopus and Tova very touching, and I also loved that part of the story is told by Marcellus through his eyes and his view of the world—it’s very fantastical, but effective. I don’t know about you, but I choose to believe that’s how it is.

Me pareció un film muy interesante y emotivo. Al principio, cuando apareció el joven Cameron, pensé en que se traía algo raro entre manos, no algo malo, pero en algún punto cuando Tova empezó a mostrar parte de su historia me di cuenta por donde venía la cuestión y me alegro que haya tenido razón porque fue lo mejor. Me resultó un tanto emotiva la trama, si bien no llore, sí puedo decir que te transmite muchos sentimientos.

I found it to be a very interesting and moving film. At first, when young Cameron appeared, I thought he was up to something strange—not necessarily something bad—but at some point, when Tova started revealing parts of her story, I realized where the plot was heading, and I’m glad I was right because it turned out to be the best part. I found the plot quite moving; while I didn’t cry, I can say that it really stirs up a lot of emotions.

Siempre me gustan las dinámicas de los pueblos unidos, donde todos se conocen entre todos y se ayudan, formando una gran comunidad. Eso es lindo de ver y apreciar. Además de los momentos emotivos, también hay muchos divertidos, así que se puede decir que es el combo perfecto. La historia me resultó muy entretenida de principio a fin. Por un momento me imaginé que iba a ser más corta, pero me sorprendió para bien. Fue más de lo que esperaba.

I always love the sense of community in close-knit towns, where everyone knows each other and helps one another, forming a tight-knit community. It’s lovely to see and appreciate. In addition to the emotional moments, there are also plenty of funny ones, so you could say it’s the perfect combination. I found the story very entertaining from start to finish. For a moment I thought it was going to be shorter, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was more than I expected.

Es una película que me logró atrapar y la disfruté un montón. Adoré por completo a Marcellus y me alegro que haya tenido su momento de protagonismo en más de un sentido. Además, aprendí sobre estos seres y su increíble inteligencia. No sabía que aguantan bastante fuera del agua, eso me sorprendió. Esto quiere decir que a parte de ver una excelente película también adquieren conocimientos en el proceso. Me gustó que el nombre de la película no tenga que ver con el pulpo en sí, yo pensé que sí, sino en como Marcellus nos percibe a los humanos. Nosotros somos las criaturas luminosas ante sus ojos.

It’s a movie that really drew me in, and I enjoyed it a lot. I absolutely loved Marcellus, and I’m glad he got his moment in the spotlight in more ways than one. Plus, I learned about these creatures and their incredible intelligence. I didn’t know they could survive for quite a while out of the water—that surprised me. This means that, in addition to watching an excellent movie, you also gain knowledge in the process. I liked that the movie’s title isn’t about the octopus itself—I thought it was—but rather about how Marcellus perceives us humans. We are the luminous creatures in his eyes.

Y también adoré el vínculo que se fue formando entre Tova y Cameron. Ambos se necesitaban para sanar sus heridas y seguir adelante, juntos tuvieron la fortaleza y las ganas de descubrir el misterio que los une y eso fue todo. Sus vidas mejoraron mucho y todo gracias a la inteligencia y la empatía de un pulpo llamado Marcellus. Increíble historia que les recomiendo ver.

And I also loved the bond that developed between Tova and Cameron. They needed each other to heal their wounds and move forward; together, they had the strength and the desire to uncover the mystery that connects them, and that was it. Their lives improved greatly, all thanks to the intelligence and empathy of an octopus named Marcellus. It’s an incredible story that I highly recommend watching.
