🎬 Movie Review: Sin instrucciones [ES/EN]

¡Hola amigos! En el día de hoy les vengo a compartir mi opinión acerca de un estreno de Netflix de una película española sobre un padre soltero que parecía comedia y en realidad es una trampa porque termine rota en llanto, les estoy hablando de Sin instrucciones.

Hello friends! Today I come to share with you my opinion about a Netflix release of a Spanish movie about a single father that looked like a comedy and in reality is a trap because I ended up broken in tears, I'm talking about Sin instrucciones.

La película nos cuenta la historia de Leo y su hija Alba. Leo es un hombre despreocupado y mujeriego que se gana la vida atendiendo un bar en la playa. Un día aparece Julia, una mujer con la que pasó una noche hace un tiempo, con una beba en sus brazos y le pide alojamiento. Al día siguiente Julia desaparece dejando a la pequeña Alba a su cuidado diciéndole que es su hija y que ella no está en una buena situación como para hacerse cargo. Ahora Leo deberá tratar de ubicar a Julia para que le dé una explicación y devolverle a la pequeña, y al mismo tiempo emprenderá la difícil tarea de convertirse en un padre de la noche a la mañana con todo lo que ello implica.

The film tells the story of Leo and his daughter Alba. Leo is a carefree and womanizing man who makes a living tending a bar on the beach. One day Julia, a woman he spent a night with some time ago, appears with a baby in her arms and asks him for lodging. The next day Julia disappears, leaving little Alba in his care, telling him that she is his daughter and that she is not in a good situation to take care of her. Now Leo must try to locate Julia so that she can give him an explanation and return the little girl to him, and at the same time he will undertake the difficult task of becoming a father overnight with all that this implies.

Esta es una historia que al principio parece de una manera, pero al final termina siendo de otra y no puedo más que sentirme maravillada y un tanto triste por el giro que tuvo la historia porque la verdad es que no me lo vi venir y me dejó rota en llanto, pero no hablaré de este asunto por si quieren verla y descubrir por ustedes mismos de lo que hablo.

This is a story that at first seems one way, but in the end ends up being another and I can only feel amazed and somewhat saddened by the twist that the story took because the truth is that I did not see it coming and it left me broken in tears, but I will not talk about this matter in case you want to see it and discover for yourselves what I'm talking about.

La película es bastante básica de entrada con las típicas escenas divertidas y absurdas de toda comedia. Vemos cómo se va construyendo esta relación entre padre e hija, ya que la pequeña Alba de apenas unos meses se convierte en una niña de 9 años muy tierna y querible. Me encantó ver este crecimiento y cómo Leo fue capaz de madurar y hacerse cargo de una niña que no estaba en sus planes. Además de darle un giro a su vida para poder brindarle una mejor vida a la niña siendo un padre soltero.

The film is quite basic from the start, with the typical funny and absurd scenes of any comedy. We see how this father-daughter relationship builds, as little Alba, just a few months old, grows into a very tender and lovable 9 year old girl. I loved seeing this growth and how Leo was able to mature and take care of a child that was not in his plans. In addition to turning his life around to be able to provide a better life for the girl being a single father.

Donde digo que está la trampa es que yo esperaba una comedia en toda regla porque quería divertirme, y me gusta el cliché de padre soltero, lo que pasó después no estuvo tan bueno, ahí se acabó la comedia. Pero por alguna razón, entendí este hecho hasta el final. Durante la película no me di cuenta, pensé que el del problema era Leo. Vaya sorpresa me pegue, aunque al parecer esta película esta basada en otra de hace unos años que, por lo que estuve viendo, es bastante más cruda, pero esa no la vi.

Where I say the catch is that I was expecting a full-blown comedy because I wanted to have fun, and I like the single father cliché, what happened after that wasn't so good, that's where the comedy ended. But for some reason, I understood this fact until the end. During the movie I didn't realize it, I thought Leo was the one with the problem. What a surprise I got, although apparently this movie is based on another one from a few years ago that, from what I was watching, is much more crude, but I didn't see that one.

Y bueno, también pasaron un par de cosas sin sentido en las que no hubo profundidad y pienso que quedaron un poco en segundo plano. Lo que más amé es la hermosa vida que le dio Leo a Alba y cómo la cuido, la llano de fantasías y nunca hablo mal de su madre. Ni cuando reaparece después de mucho tiempo para retomar el vínculo. A la niña la adoré, es muy querible e hizo un lindo papel. Ojalá tenga mucho futuro por delante, se lo merece. Se cargó parte de la película a los hombros como solo los niños saben hacerlo. Otra cosa que me encantó fue la banda sonora, musicalizó muy bien los momentos claves.

And well, there were also a couple of nonsense things that happened where there was no depth and I think they were a bit on the back burner. What I loved most is the beautiful life Leo gave Alba and how he took care of her, filled her with fantasies and never spoke ill of her mother. Not even when she reappears after a long time to resume the bond. I adored the girl, she is very lovable and played a beautiful role. I hope she has a great future ahead of her, she deserves it. She carried part of the movie on her shoulders as only children know how to do. Another thing I loved was the soundtrack, it musicalized very well the key moments.

Es una película que recomiendo ver si les llama la atención, pero no se dejen engañar por la trama simple y, aparentemente, divertida que muestra ser en la superficie, ya que tiene su cuota de drama y es posible que el final les robe lágrimas de las amargas. No quedé satisfecha del todo con esto, pero entiendo que no todo puede terminar bien. Así que procedan con precaución (?

It's a movie I recommend seeing if it catches your attention, but don't be fooled by the simple and, apparently, fun plot it shows itself to be on the surface, as it has its share of drama and the ending is likely to steal bitter tears. I wasn't entirely satisfied with it, but I understand that not everything can end well. So proceed with caution (?
