¡Hola amigos! Hoy les quiero compartir la reseña de una película muy esperada que vi hace unos meses, cerca de su estreno en cines, y que no les había dado mi opinión al respecto. Les estoy hablando de El diablo viste a la moda 2.

Hi, friends! Today I want to share a review of a highly anticipated movie that I saw a few months ago, around the time it was released in theaters, and that I hadn't shared my thoughts on yet. I'm talking about The Devil Wears Prada 2.

En esta segunda parte, que se hizo esperar bastante, seguimos a Andy Sachs que se dedica a la redacción independiente, pero ese sector está teniendo una recesión, y ahora vuelve a caer en la mira de Runway que la necesita porque también está pasando un mal momento. Miranda Priestly sigue siendo la directora y un hueso duro de roer, pero como viejo diablo, sabe que debe adaptarse a la nueva era o perecer en el intento. Ambas colaborarán para poner a Runway en la cima de nuevo, ya no como asistente y jefa, sino como colegas.

In this long-awaited sequel, we follow Andy Sachs, who has been working as a freelance writer, but that industry is in a slump, and now she’s back in Runway’s sights—the magazine needs her because it’s also going through a rough patch. Miranda Priestly is still the editor-in-chief and a tough nut to crack, but like a seasoned veteran, she knows she must adapt to the new era or perish in the attempt. The two will work together to bring Runway back to the top—no longer as assistant and boss, but as colleagues.

Como les decía, es una película que se hizo esperar bastante, pero fue refrescante volver a este mundo. No les voy a mentir, la película me gustó, pero siento que nada va a superar lo icónica que fue la primera. Miranda era una jefa exigente que metía miedo y los tenía a todos cortos. Acá, tras 20 años, perdió un poco de esa actitud dura que la caracterizaba. Pero eso no quita que no sea una muy buena segunda parte.

As I was saying, it’s a movie we’ve been waiting for quite a while, but it was refreshing to return to this world. I’m not going to lie—I liked the movie, but I feel like nothing will ever top how iconic the first one was. Miranda was a demanding boss who struck fear into everyone and kept them on their toes. Here, 20 years later, she’s lost a bit of that tough attitude that defined her. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t a very good sequel.

Me resultó muy entretenida y divertida, fue agradable volver a conectarme con estos personajes y los dilemas de la moda. Andy era la misma de siempre, pero con más experiencia y madurez. Es curioso, pero a pesar del tiempo todos se seguían viendo más o menos igual. Como si te volvieras a reencontrar con viejos conocidos, y un poco así fue.

I found it very entertaining and fun; it was nice to reconnect with these characters and the dilemmas of the fashion world. Andy was the same as always, but with more experience and maturity. It’s funny, but despite the passage of time, they all still looked more or less the same. It was like running into old acquaintances again—and in a way, that’s exactly what it was.

Me gustó este paso a la tecnología y las nuevas modas que demuestran que todo el tiempo hay que estar reinventándose para no caer en el olvido, sobre todo en un mundo tan competitivo como el de la moda que encima te exige estar en tendencia constantemente. Pero que, al mismo tiempo, te hace sentir nostalgia por lo simple y lo que se siente más cercano. Esa polaridad fue muy interesante.

I liked this shift toward technology and the new trends that show how you have to constantly reinvent yourself to avoid being forgotten—especially in a world as competitive as fashion, which demands that you stay on trend all the time. But at the same time, it makes you feel nostalgic for simplicity and for what feels more familiar. That contrast was very interesting.

Creo que fue una película pensada más para los nostálgicos. Los que estuvimos esperando esta segunda parte muchos años y la vimos con mucha ilusión. También creo que tuvo algunas falencias y eso está bien reconocerlo. No le quita el mérito a lo que vimos porque igual estuvo muy bien. Pero para ser justa, sentí que le falto algo, no llegó a sentirse perfecta e inolvidable.

I think it was a movie aimed more at those feeling nostalgic—those of us who had been waiting for this sequel for many years and watched it with great anticipation. I also think it had some flaws, and it’s okay to acknowledge that. It doesn’t take away from what we saw because it was still very good. But to be fair, I felt like it was missing something; it didn’t quite feel perfect or unforgettable.

De todos modos la disfruté mucho, me reí bastante y amé reencontrarme con estos personajes. No voy a olvidarme de mencionar a la icónica de Emily, ni al astuto de Nigel, uno de mis personajes secundarios favoritos. Es una película ideal para pasar un rato agradable y divertido, con el toque de nostalgia justa. Si no la vieron está más que recomendada por mí parte.

In any case, I really enjoyed it—I laughed a lot and loved reconnecting with these characters. I can’t forget to mention the iconic Emily, or the clever Nigel, one of my favorite supporting characters. It’s the perfect movie for a pleasant, fun time, with just the right touch of nostalgia. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it.
