¡Hola amigos! Hoy me paso por acá para hablarles acerca de la nueva película de Netflix sobre ciencia ficción surcoreana apocalíptica llamada El gran diluvio.

En esta historia seguimos a An-na, una científica que está trabajando en el desarrollo de un núcleo emocional para crear nuevos humanos en caso de una catástrofe, que es lo que termina sucediendo. En el día cero vemos como su edificio se empieza a inundar porque un asteroide golpeó la Antártida y el hielo derretido ocasionó un tsunami imparable que está acabando con la humanidad. Así que An-na tiene que subir hasta la azotea con su pequeño hijo Ja-in, junto con la ayuda de un hombre de seguridad, ya que la espera un helicóptero para ponerla a salvo y terminar con el proyecto antes de que sea demasiado tarde. Pero Ja-in no se la pone fácil y se desaparece en más de una ocasión, además, algo raro está sucediendo porque de pronto la invaden recuerdos del mismo día una y otra vez, en el que hace cosas distintas con el mismo resultado y nunca llega a completar la misión. ¿Podrá An-na ser la única ayuda para restablecer la humanidad? ¿Encontrará al pequeño Ja-in?

In this story, we follow An-na, a scientist who is working on developing an emotional core to create new humans in the event of a catastrophe, which is what ends up happening. On day zero, we see how her building begins to flood because an asteroid hit Antarctica and the melted ice caused an unstoppable tsunami that is wiping out humanity. So An-na has to climb up to the roof with her young son Ja-in, with the help of a security guard, as a helicopter waits to take her to safety and finish the project before it's too late. But Ja-in doesn't make it easy for her and disappears on more than one occasion. What's more, something strange is happening because she is suddenly flooded with memories of the same day over and over again, in which she does different things with the same result and never manages to complete the mission. Could An-na be the only hope for restoring humanity? Will she find little Ja-in?

Es una película que me resultó super interesante, siempre soy fan de los apocalipsis, pero este tiene el plus extra de tratarse de ciencia ficción donde la IA está involucrada y, si bien no es un nuevo recurso, es interesante como lo plantearon. Si les tengo que ser sincera, a mí me encantó la película, me resultó atrapante y emotiva. Quizá puede resultar un poco confusa, incluso tuve que volver a retroceder para entender diálogos, pero me encantó que sea una película que me mantuvo haciéndome trabajar las neuronas.

I found this movie super interesting. I'm always a fan of apocalyptic stories, but this one has the added bonus of being science fiction involving AI, and although that's not a new concept, it's interesting how they approached it. To be honest, I loved the movie. I found it captivating and moving. It can be a little confusing at times—I even had to rewind to understand some of the dialogue—but I loved that it was a film that kept me thinking.

Me pareció super interesante todo, aunque entiendo que puede resultar confusa, mismo con el final que uno entiende que se supone que se logró el objetivo y estos nuevos humanos están yendo a repoblar la Tierra, pero no sé qué es lo que habrá en las otras cabinas, supongo que otros sujetos de pruebas. Es algo rara y requiere que prestes atención a los detalles, son sutiles, pero están ahí. No es una película para verla relajado es para que te involucres en ella y en lo que te está mostrando.

I found it all really interesting, although I understand that it can be confusing, even with the ending where you understand that the objective has been achieved and these new humans are going to repopulate the Earth, but I don't know what will be in the other cabins, I guess other test subjects. It's a bit strange and requires you to pay attention to the details, which are subtle but there nonetheless. It's not a movie to watch while relaxing; it's one to get involved in and engage with what it's showing you.

Bueno, la cuestión es que la película te lleva para un lado y resulta algo totalmente distinto. A mí me sorprendió muchísimo y también cómo se fue dando todo, la verdad es que la disfrute bastante y también la pasé bastante mal. Al principio me alteraba mucho el pequeño Ja-in, parecía no comprender la urgencia de lo que estaba pasando y eso enlentecía y entorpecía el escape. Pero al saber el motivo real me shockeo y fue un momento emotivo.

Well, the thing is, the movie takes you in one direction and then turns out to be something completely different. I was really surprised by that and also by how everything unfolded. To be honest, I enjoyed it quite a bit, but I also had a pretty hard time watching it. At first, little Ja-in really upset me. He didn't seem to understand the urgency of what was happening, and that slowed down and hindered the escape. But when I found out the real reason, I was shocked, and it was an emotional moment.

No es una película de la que pueda decirles mucho porque no quiero spoilearlos, pero la protagonista se encuentra en un bucle temporal en el que repite el mismo día una y otra vez, con variantes, hasta que logra romper la simulación y escapar de ese bucle aceptando su destino. Esto va a sonar muy flashero, pero siento que es como la vida misma, a veces tenemos esos deja vu que nos hacen sentir que ya vivimos en determinado tiempo y algo salió mal en la simulación y tuvimos que volver a empezar, una y otra vez, hasta que logremos comprender cuál es nuestra misión y poder despertar.

It's not a movie I can tell you much about because I don't want to spoil it for you, but the main character finds herself in a time loop where she repeats the same day over and over again, with variations, until she manages to break the simulation and escape the loop by accepting her fate. This is going to sound very flashy, but I feel like it's like life itself. Sometimes we have those déjà vu moments that make us feel like we've already lived through a certain time and something went wrong in the simulation and we had to start over, again and again, until we understand what our mission is and are able to wake up.

Me resultó una película muy reflexiva y emotiva, lloré en varias partes. De nuevo me sentí conmovida por la IA, que cosa, es maravillosa, pero también da miedo jajaja. Quizá les resulte frustrante y confusa al principio, pero denle una oportunidad porque siento que vale la pena verla. Todavía hay cosas que no me quedaron tan claras, pero sí sé que me gustó mucho y se las recomiendo.

I found it to be a very thoughtful and emotional film; I cried at several points. Once again, I was moved by AI, which is wonderful, but also scary, ha ha ha. You may find it frustrating and confusing at first, but give it a chance because I think it's worth watching. There are still some things that aren't entirely clear to me, but I do know that I really liked it and recommend it.
