¡Hola amigos! Hoy me paso por acá para traerles la reseña de otra película navideña que vi hace poco, esta es del 2015 y es una de las mejores del género que vi hasta el momento. Les estoy hablando de Atrapado en la Navidad.

Hello, friends! Today I'm here to bring you a review of another Christmas movie I saw recently. It's from 2015 and is one of the best of its kind I've seen so far. I'm talking about The Spirit of Christmas.

La historia gira en torno a una antigua posada que requiere ser tasada para ponerla en venta tras el fallecimiento de su último heredero. Kate es una abogada encargada del caso, la mañana en que decide viajar hasta la posada para encontrarse con el tasador, este termina saliendo asustado. Es que hay fuertes rumores de que en ella habita un fantasma y Kate está lista para pasar la noche allí y convencerse de que son solo rumores. Hasta que aparece Daniel, el fantasma que reaparece todos los años, 12 días antes de Navidad, desde hace un siglo sin tener idea de porqué sucede esto. Ahora Kate se debate entre hacer su trabajo antes de que la despidan y resolver el misterio del fantasma atrapado en la posada.

The story revolves around an old inn that needs to be appraised for sale after the death of its last heir. Kate is a lawyer in charge of the case, and on the morning she decides to travel to the inn to meet with the appraiser, he ends up running away in fear. There are strong rumors that a ghost inhabits the inn, and Kate is ready to spend the night there to convince herself that they are just rumors. Until Daniel appears, the ghost who reappears every year, 12 days before Christmas, for a century without having any idea why this happens. Now Kate is torn between doing her job before she gets fired and solving the mystery of the ghost trapped in the inn.

Es una trama bastante ocurrente y diferente a lo que me tienen acostumbrada este tipo de películas. La verdad es que me resultó muy intrigante todo lo que sucedía, el misterio del fantasma es envolvente y la historia te lleva por diferentes caminos. Eso me agrada, no es la típica película navideña pochoclera, donde todo es risas y momentos absurdos, esta tiene un trasfondo más profundo de lo esperado. Creo que se puede decir que es algo dramática, pero cumple su función de entretener y entregar espíritu navideño.

It's a pretty clever plot and different from what I'm used to seeing in this type of movie. I found everything that happened very intriguing. The mystery of the ghost is captivating, and the story takes you down different paths. I like that. It's not your typical popcorn Christmas movie, where everything is laughter and absurd moments. This one has a deeper background than expected. I think you could say it's somewhat dramatic, but it fulfills its function of entertaining and delivering Christmas spirit.

La idea me resultó interesante de abordar y, lo más importante, es que conserva el espíritu navideño y los milagros que suceden en esa época. Pero tiene ese diferencial que te hace pensar, y aunque puede resultar un poco predecible, les juro que en algún momento dudé de cómo iba a terminar. Al final sucedió lo que tenía que suceder y tal vez no hay una mayor explicación, pero es una película de esas que te logran atrapar y te dejan el corazón cálido en el cierre.

I found the idea interesting to explore and, most importantly, it preserves the Christmas spirit and the miracles that happen during that time of year. But it has that twist that makes you think, and although it may be a little predictable, I swear that at one point I doubted how it would end. In the end, what had to happen happened, and maybe there's no greater explanation, but it's one of those movies that grabs you and leaves you with a warm heart at the end.

Me encantó la ambientación y la musicalización. También que el escenario principal sea la posada con toda su historia. Ese es otro plus, hay un doble escenario entre vistazos al presente y lo que sucedió en el pasado con Daniel y su historia. Eso nos sitúa en dos tiempos diferentes, ya que el fantasma lleva en esas andanzas hace 100 años. Lo que lo hace ser de una época distinta a la de Kate y los demás personajes. Aunque si me lo preguntan se desenvuelve muy bien para estar en una época diferente a la que falleció.

I loved the setting and the music. I also liked that the main stage is the inn with all its history. That's another plus. There's a double stage between glimpses of the present and what happened in the past with Daniel and his story. That puts us in two different times, since the ghost has been on those adventures for 100 years. That makes him from a different era than Kate and the other characters. Although, if you ask me, he handles himself very well for being from a different era than the one in which he died.

El misterio de la muerte de Daniel es super intrigante, no sabemos bien lo que sucede hasta el final y la forma en que se resuelve todo está bastante bien. Aunque no se explica cómo nunca se enteró de la presencia de los otros fantasmas que necesitaban expiar sus culpas.

The mystery surrounding Daniel's death is super intriguing. We don't really know what's going on until the end, and the way everything is resolved is pretty good. Although it's never explained how he never found out about the other ghosts who needed to atone for their sins.

Obvio que también hay romance en la película porque así son la mayoría de estas historias. Y me gustó mucho a pesar de que sucediera tan rápido, uno se queda pensando en cómo dos personas se enamoran en tan solo 12 días, pero bueno, así son las películas jajaja, para esto las miro. Nah, hablando en serio, fue un romance muy lindo que al final tampoco se sabía si iba a resultar o no por las circunstancias de los involucrados.

Obviously, there is also romance in the film because that's how most of these stories are. And I really liked it even though it happened so quickly. You're left wondering how two people can fall in love in just 12 days, but hey, that's how movies are, haha, that's why I watch them. Nah, seriously, it was a very sweet romance, and in the end, you didn't know if it was going to work out or not because of the circumstances of those involved.

En definitiva, es una buena película navideña, no es tan cursi y boba como otras y tiene esa atmósfera misteriosa. Así que creo que puede ser una opción a evaluar por los que no son tan fanáticos de las romcoms navideñas, pero quieran ver alguna del género. Quizá les pueda gustar.

All in all, it's a good Christmas movie. It's not as corny and silly as others, and it has that mysterious atmosphere. So I think it could be an option worth considering for those who aren't big fans of Christmas romcoms but want to watch something in the genre. They might like it.
