🎬 Movie Review: You, Me, and Tuscany [ES/EN]

¡Hola amigos! Hoy les vengo a compartir mi reseña acerca de la película llamada Tú, yo y la Toscana. Una nueva comedia romántica de la que no esperaba nada, pero me termino convenciendo.

Hi, friends! Today I'm here to share my review of the movie You, Me, and Tuscany. It's a new romantic comedy that I didn't expect much from, but it ended up winning me over.

En esta historia seguimos a una joven aspirante a chef que tuvo que dejar sus sueños atrás para ocuparse de su madre que enfermo. Cuando ella muere, Anna decide empezar una nueva vida en la ciudad que siempre quiso visitar con ella, la Toscana. Pero sin dinero, ni rumbo fijo, termina haciéndose pasar por la prometida de un hombre que conoció antes de emprender el viaje en Estados Unidos para poder quedar alojada en su Villa. La cuestión se complica cuando Anna conoce a la familia de su supuesto prometido y empieza a crear un vínculo cercano con su primo, y cada vez le costara más mantener la mentira sin salir perjudicada de este enredo.

In this story, we follow a young aspiring chef who had to put her dreams on hold to care for her ailing mother. When her mother dies, Anna decides to start a new life in the place she always wanted to visit with her: Tuscany. But with no money and no clear direction, she ends up pretending to be the fiancée of a man she met before leaving for the United States so she can stay at his villa. Things get complicated when Anna meets her supposed fiancé’s family and begins to form a close bond with his cousin, and it becomes increasingly difficult for her to keep up the lie without getting caught up in this mess.

Debo empezar diciendo que no esperaba nada de esta película, la empecé a ver porque me gusta la ciudad y me imaginé que sería lindo apreciar los paisajes, pero al final me terminó sorprendiendo para bien. Me dio comedia, romance, paisajes hermosos, musicalización increíble y una familia muy peculiar, pero querible. Esto demuestra que a veces de lo que no esperas nada puede terminar sorprendiéndote.

I have to start by saying that I wasn’t expecting anything from this movie. I started watching it because I like the city and figured it would be nice to enjoy the scenery, but in the end, it actually surprised me in a good way. It offered comedy, romance, beautiful scenery, an incredible soundtrack, and a very quirky—but lovable—family. This just goes to show that sometimes, the things you don’t expect anything from can end up surprising you.

La historia es bastante tranquila, no hay nada novedoso, pero cumple bien su función de entretener. Fue un soplo de aire fresco, realmente disfruté de verla, me hizo reír en ocasiones y me gusto el romance, aunque no esperaba nada en lo absoluto. No me emociono ni mucho menos, pero lo agradezco porque quería ver algo del estilo y fue una buena apuesta en ese sentido, sin mucho drama.

The story is pretty low-key—there’s nothing new about it—but it does a good job of entertaining. It was a breath of fresh air; I really enjoyed watching it. It made me laugh at times, and I liked the romance, even though I wasn’t expecting anything at all. It didn’t really move me, but I’m grateful for it because I wanted to watch something like this, and it was a good choice in that sense—without too much drama.

Con esto no digo que sea la cúspide de las películas de comedia romántica, hay mucho mejores, pero estuvo bastante linda y era lo que necesitaba en ese momento. Así que me vino genial. Me encanta el ambiente familiar que transmite y el acento italiano me conquisto. Además de la fotografía que fue estupenda, nada como pasear por las viñas de la Toscana, fue muy lindo todo el paisaje. Y otra cosa que me agrado mucho es la banda sonora.

I’m not saying this is the best romantic comedy out there—there are much better ones—but it was pretty cute and exactly what I needed at the time. So it was perfect for me. I love the family-friendly vibe it conveys, and the Italian accent really won me over. Plus, the cinematography was fantastic—there’s nothing like strolling through the vineyards of Tuscany; the whole landscape was so beautiful. And another thing I really liked was the soundtrack

Por otro lado, me gustó la química entre los dos actores, creo que lograron crear una buena relación y se sintió. Eso es primordial en una comedia romántica, en mi opinión. Me gustó esta dupla desde que los vi juntos porque en un momento creí que ella iba a terminar con el prometido falso, y no sentía que tuvieran buena química, así que me alegré con el resultado final. Todos terminaron ganando de una y otra forma.

On the other hand, I liked the chemistry between the two actors; I think they managed to create a good connection, and you could really feel it. That’s essential in a romantic comedy, in my opinion. I liked this duo from the moment I saw them together because at one point I thought she was going to break up with the fake fiancé, and I didn’t feel like they had good chemistry, so I was happy with the final outcome. Everyone ended up winning in one way or another.

No hay mucho más que pueda decir acerca del film, fue divertido y estuvo correcto. Para ser sincera, no me encantó, pero sí me gustó y me dio más de lo que esperaba. Así que lo recomiendo para cuando no saben qué ver y quieren entretenerse un rato.

There isn't much else I can say about the movie—it was fun and decent. To be honest, I didn't love it, but I did like it, and it gave me more than I expected. So I recommend it for when you don't know what to watch and want to be entertained for a while.
