Review: Mulan. Live action [ES/EN]

¡Hola amigos! Hoy les traigo la reseña del live action de Mulán.
Con todo esto de la Sirenita (que tampoco vi) me di cuenta que nunca la había visto. Así que aproveché para hacerlo y acá les traigo mi opinión. Aunque primero les voy a hablar de la trama.

Hello friends! Today I bring you the review of Mulan live action.
With all this stuff about the Little Mermaid (which I didn't see either) I realized that I had never seen it. So I took the opportunity to do it and here I bring you my opinion. But first I'm going to talk about the plot.

Hua Mulán es una joven con un don especial, ella es muy hábil y tenaz, pero se ve obligada a ocultarlo porque lo único que se espera de ella es que se convierta en una buena esposa y que sea diligente en sus tareas del hogar. Para no llenar de humillación a su familia, decide acoplarse a sus deseos. Sin embargo, su vida da un vuelco cuando el emperador de China lanza un decreto en el que pide que cada familia mande un hijo varón para defender el imperio que está siendo atacado por un grupo de Rouran al mando de Bori Khan y una bruja que les está facilitando sus victorias.

Hua Mulan is a young girl with a special gift, she is very skillful and tenacious, but she is forced to hide it because all that is expected of her is to become a good wife and to be diligent in her household chores. In order not to humiliate her family, she decides to comply with their wishes. However, her life is turned upside down when the emperor of China issues a decree asking each family to send a male child to defend the empire that is under attack by a group of Rouran under the command of Bori Khan and a witch who is facilitating their victories.

La familia Hua no cuenta con un heredero varón, así que el padre de Mulán es el que tiene que ir a la guerra. Al ser un hombre que ya peleó en batallas y carga con secuelas físicas, Mulán sabe que no sobrevivirá esta ocasión. Así que toma la decisión de ir ella en su lugar, haciéndose pasar por un hombre, a riesgo de que la descubran y la maten por traición. Además de deshonrar a toda su familia.

The Hua family has no male heir, so Mulan's father is the one who has to go to war. Being a man who has already fought in battles and carries physical scars, Mulan knows he will not survive this time. So she makes the decision to go in his place, pretending to be a man, at the risk of being discovered and killed for treason. As well as dishonoring her entire family.

Buenooo, lo primero que quiero decir es que disfruté de ver esta película. Soy consciente de que no se parece en un montón de cosas a su versión animada que es la que conocen todos. Sin embargo, es una buena película y creo que conserva el mensaje correcto, lo que quieren mostrarnos ambas adaptaciones es la leyenda que se cuenta sobre una joven china que se animó a desafiar las leyes de su país a riesgo de terminar muerta para defender al imperio y salvar a su padre. Que es lo que terminó haciendo, según se cuenta.

Well, the first thing I want to say is that I enjoyed watching this movie. I am aware that it doesn't resemble in a lot of things to its animated version which is the one everyone knows. However, it's a good movie and I think it keeps the right message, what both adaptations want to show us is the legend told about a young Chinese girl who dared to defy the laws of her country at the risk of ending up dead to defend the empire and save her father. Which is what she ended up doing, according to the story.

La historia me pareció que tiene un tinte más realista en cuanto a que esto es una guerra y habrá pérdidas, gente que sufra y que tenga miedo. El desenlace es el mismo. Todos extrañamos a Mushu, pero en su lugar tuvimos un fénix, ese que vuelve a renacer de las cenizas. Soy muy fan del fénix.

The story seemed to me to have a more realistic tinge in that this is a war and there will be losses, people will suffer and be afraid. The outcome is the same. We all miss Mushu, but in his place we had a phoenix, that one that rises again from the ashes. I am a big fan of the phoenix.

Algo nuevo que me gustó fue el personaje de la bruja, aunque siento que lo desperdiciaron y le dieron un final abrupto. La mujer se enfrentó a ejércitos enteros y le dan ese final, okey, voy a hacer de cuenta de que lo creo. Le veía potencial para más, aunque sí me pareció fantasiosa su aparición. El villano también se quedó corto, pero bueno. Por lo demás me resultó muy entretenida. También me agrado la insinuación de interés amoroso con respecto al guerrero Chen Honghui quien es como nuestro Li Shang en la versión animada.

Something new I liked was the character of the witch, although I feel they wasted it and gave her an abrupt ending. The woman faced whole armies and they give her that ending, okay, I'm going to pretend to believe it. I saw potential for more, though I did find her appearance fanciful. The villain also fell short, but okay. Otherwise I found it very entertaining. I also liked the hint of love interest regarding the warrior Chen Honghui who is like our Li Shang in the animated version.

Me gustaron los efectos especiales y la musicalización, aunque pueden darse cuenta que no hay números musicales como tal. Sino solo musicalización, igual me agrado que conservaran la canción del cierre que si es la más conocida.

I liked the special effects and the music, although you can notice that there are no musical numbers as such. I also liked the fact that they kept the closing song, which is the best known one.

Bueno amigos, en definitiva, a mí me gustó mucho esta película. Sé que hay gente que opina lo contrario porque no se hizo similar a su versión animada. Pero a mí me resultó entretenida y me gustaron los cambios.

Well folks, all in all, I really liked this movie. I know there are people who think otherwise because it wasn't made similar to its animated version. But I found it entertaining and I liked the changes.
