🎬 Serie Review: Squid Game (season 3) [ES/EN]

¡Hola amigos! Hoy les traigo la reseña de la tercera temporada de la serie El juego del calamar. Un final que se hizo esperar, aunque me tomé mi tiempo para verla tranquila y aquí les dejo lo qué me pareció.

Hello friends! Today I bring you the review of the third season of the series Squid Game. A finale that was long overdue, although I took my time to watch it quietly and here I leave you what I thought.

Trama - Plot

Esta nueva temporada sigue los acontecimientos directos de la temporada anterior luego de que la mitad de los jugadores se revelara y fueran asesinados por los que organizan el juego. Ahora Gi-hun se encuentra muy afectado, con culpa y sintiendo que no hay esperanzas, y todos los que lograron sobrevivir deberán enfrentarse a desafíos cada vez más peligrosos. Si quieren vivir deberán mantenerse unidos. Mientras tanto, llegan los vips y uno de los agentes se revela para salvar a uno de los participantes. Del otro lado, el ex policía sigue buscando la isla donde suceden los juegos para acabar con ellos a tiempo sin saber que hay un traidor en sus filas.

This new season follows the direct events of the previous season after half of the players were revealed and killed by those who organize the game. Now Gi-hun is badly affected, guilt-ridden and feeling that there is no hope, and all those who managed to survive must face increasingly dangerous challenges. If they want to live, they must stick together. Meanwhile, the vips arrive and one of the agents reveals himself to save one of the participants. On the other side, the ex-cop keeps looking for the island where the games are taking place in order to finish them off in time, unaware that there is a traitor in their ranks.

Una tercera temporada que se siente más bien como la segunda temporada parte 2. No entiendo porqué las separaron si es una continuación directa de la anterior. Bueno, de todos modos fue bastante entretenida aunque no haya causado el mismo impacto que la primera temporada. Lo que sí me pasó con esta es que la sufrí mucho más porque me encariñe con varios personajes que terminaron perdiendo la vida y quizá esperaba que tuvieran un destino más feliz, pero bueno, esa fue mala mía.

A third season that feels more like the second season part 2. I don't understand why they separated them if it's a direct continuation of the previous one. Well, anyway it was quite entertaining even if it didn't make the same impact as the first season. What did happen to me with this one is that I suffered it a lot more because I got attached to several characters who ended up losing their lives and maybe I was hoping for them to have a happier fate, but well, that was bad of me.

A decir verdad, es una serie que brinda pocas oportunidades de supervivencia, o sea, si fuera lógico podrían haber sobrevivido varios al darles constantemente la posibilidad de retirarse. Lo que marca la serie es que el ser humano es muy codicioso y que mientras más dinero obtiene, más quiere ganar sin importar las consecuencias. Solo piensan en ellos mismos y sus necesidades. Demostrando la calaña de lo que están hechos, aunque no sean todos así. Por lo que fue inevitable no sentir pena por los que quisieron irse desde un principio y no pudieron hacerlo, y por las cosas que tuvieron que hacer para intentar sobrevivir. Realmente algunas escenas se me hicieron bastante crueles.

To tell the truth, it is a series that offers few opportunities for survival, that is, if it were logical, several could have survived by constantly giving them the possibility of withdrawing. What the series shows is that human beings are very greedy and the more money they get, the more they want to earn regardless of the consequences. They only think of themselves and their needs. Demonstrating the calaña of what they are made of, although they are not all like that. So it was inevitable not to feel sorry for those who wanted to leave from the beginning and couldn't, and for the things they had to do to try to survive. Actually some scenes were quite cruel to me.

Encima estos juegos tuvieron el agregado de que varios personajes se conocían o compartían una historia en común y eso hacía fortalecer los lazos, pero al mismo tiempo uno sabe que la mayoría no va a lograrlo. Así que bueno, tuvo sus momentos, aunque haya sufrido con algunas muertes, estaba preparada para ellas. También comparto eso de que los juegos no me parecieron tan impactantes como los de la primera vez que uno no sabía qué esperar, aunque sí creo que fueron más violentos.

On top of that, these games had the added bonus that several characters knew each other or shared a common history and that made the bonds stronger, but at the same time you know that most of them are not going to make it. So well, it had its moments, even if it suffered with some deaths, I was prepared for them. I also share that the games didn't seem as shocking as the first time you didn't know what to expect, although I do think they were more violent.

También noté ciertas incongruencias y agregados para tratar de enriquecer la trama. No creo que haya tenido un mal cierre, pero me hubiera gustado algo mucho más esperanzador, algo de justicia aunque sea mínima. Hay cosas que todavía estoy intentando entender. Sobre todo el papel del ex policía obsesionado con encontrar la isla para que al final no ocurriera nada con eso. O cómo pudo escapar a tiempo y todo ese final del que no voy a hablar para evitar spoilers, pero si la vieron seguro me entienden.

I also noticed certain incongruities and additions to try to enrich the plot. I don't think it had a bad ending, but I would have liked something much more hopeful, some justice even if minimal. There are things I'm still trying to figure out. Especially the role of the ex-cop obsessed with finding the island so that nothing happened with that in the end. Or how he was able to escape in time and that whole ending that I'm not going to talk about to avoid spoilers, but if you saw it I'm sure you understand me.

Aun así, creo que tuvo el final esperado. No sé si el que se merecía, pero sí el adecuado para este tipo de serie. Fue algo agridulce, pero esto no quita que no haya disfrutado de verla. Es una serie como mucho entretenida y tuvo sus momentos brillantes.

Even so, I think it had the expected ending. I don't know if it was the one it deserved, but it was the right one for this kind of series. It was somewhat bittersweet, but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy watching it. It's an entertaining series at best and it had its bright moments.
