A friend recommended this movie to me to watch. She assured me that the movie is going to be interesting. So taking her words for it, I ignored my watchlist and saw this movie. Let me be honest with you, I think I am beginning to lose hope in Hollywood with each passing day.

Everyday, Hollywood keeps depreciating and they keep dish out movies that add no value to one's life. I don't know what is happening with the industry.

’Miller's Girl (2024)’ is an erotica thriller according to the producers but to me it is not. Actually, I don't even know which genre it belongs to because this movie is definitely not an erotica thriller.

The plot of this movie revolves around Cairo, an 18-year-old who has an exceptional talent and passion for writing and her teacher Mr Miller who is also writer. They both were sucked into an enigmatic game of intellectual seduction until Mr Miller decided to spice things up by assigning a personal project to help her which was worth 25% of her grades. This project becomes a problem when they both crossed a boundary line they shouldn't have sexually.

This problem escalated quickly as it blurs the boundaries lines between professional and the personal. Their intentions for each other becomes unclear and confusing as they both were blinded by emotions, sexual attraction, lust and stupidity (in my own opinion😒).

Mr Miller's relationship with his Cairo becomes a school problem when she decided to take it far up because she couldn't handle rejection from her professor. How will Mr Miller handle this? Will he lose his job and wife? How far is Cairo willing stretch this?

’Miller's Girl (2024)’ was directed and written by Jade Halley Bartlett (obviously). It was also distributed by Lionsgate studios. This movie starred Martin Freeman, Jenna Ortega, Dagmara Domińczyk, Bashir Salahuddin and Gideon Adlon.

My Review And Rating.

This movie seemed to be like a story written fresh out of Wattpad. Cliché, ridiculous, and silly. A teacher falls for his student, really?

The plot of this movie lacks motivation and intention for the audience. It is soulless, and it has no objective. The script and story fell apart about right from 30 minutes. The dialogues were all filled up with nonsense poetic lines that had no meaning or made sense to me. Instead of the plot to offer refreshing twists and turns, new ideas, but instead it portrayed clichés that we have seen so many times which made watching this movie tedious and annoying.

The characters started to exhibit behaviour that I find weird as these behaviour started to aid them to make stupid choices. They all also lacked the ability to engage the audience emotionally. Martin Freeman, I can't believe he accepted to act in this movie. I was disappointed and it was weird for me. From now, I don't think I can take him seriously in any other movie.

The scene arrangements were okay, the setting was fitting as it gave us the outlook of gloomy, and dark. The cinematography was what made me see this movie to the end and right now I doubt I was the one who actually sat down to finish this movie. Also, some scenes were so overstretched that I began to believe that I was watching an Indian movie straight out of zee world cable.

I dislike the message this movie passes across to its audience. Teenagers were smoking, drinking and getting drunk. Students having conversations with their teachers without boundaries or respect. The ending was unsatisfactory for me because to me, this movie has no ending. They also say this movie is erotica thriller but it wasn't. It failed in that aspect terribly. There is nothing erotica about this movie, there was no nudity, except for loads of shitty poetic lines.

I wish Hollywood will begin to do better. There are a lot of books out that can be a blockbusters masterpiece when adapted into movies/motion pictures. Will I recommend this movie? No, I won't. Unless you feel like wasting your time then you can see this movie.

Rating this movie, I will give it 4 out of 10 stars. It was not an interesting watch for me and I actually regret wasting my time watching in this movie.

I am positive that I've read a book like this before. College student that's taking a poetry call, Poetry professor. Escapades. Professional and personal lines begin to blur. Professor has a wife that he has marital issues with...

I was expecting to see where it was gotten from a book but if it's not, it still feels like they just lifted that plot then bastardised it.

I think I am beginning to lose hope in Hollywood with each passing day.

I'm surprised you still have hope. Lol
