I have been eager to watch this movie since I saw the trailer. The trailer got me curious about what the movie is all about. The School For Good And Evil, I was thinking maybe both schools will co-exist together, but for how long? Good and evil don't mix well according to nature or can I say according to the law of attraction?

The School For Good And Evil is a fantasy movie that was adapted from a novel of the same name written by Soman Chainani. This movie was released in October during Halloween and it was distributed by Netflix which makes it a Netflix original. Paul Feig directed this movie and co-wrote the screenplay with David Magee. This movie starred; Kerry Washington, Charlize Theron, Sofia Wylie, Sophia, Anne Caruso and so many others that might be familiar to you.

The movie started with a scene of two brothers Rhian and Rafal who are the founders of both Good and Evil schools to train fairytale heroes who are also known as the Evers and then fairytale villains who are also known as the Nevers. Rafal got tired of Good prevailing on Evil always with no futuristic chance that Evil might win someday. So he tricks his brother Rhian into fighting, takes advantage of the fight, and uses blood magic to fight his brother. Using blood magic against his brother, they both almost went off a cliff, but then Rhian defends himself by throwing Rafal off the cliff, killing him apparently.

Many years later in the village of Gavaldon, there lived two best friends; Sophie and Agatha who discovered when they went to a bookshop about the legend of The School for Good and Evil. Sophie was so excited and optimistic to hear about the legend and the possibility that the school exists for real, but Agatha wasn't excited instead she wasn't so sure the legend is true. Sophie becomes obsessed with the school and thinks of it as her way to get out of her ordinary life to be a princess. Sophie then writes a letter of application to The School For Good And Evil leaving it behind in a tree.

Some few nights later, Sophie attempts to run away from the village without telling her best friend, but Agatha finds out early before she leaves and catches Sophie on her way out of the village. As Agatha tries to convince Sophie not to go through with her plan, a mysterious legendary bird snatches them away to The School For Good And Evil, dropping Sophie in the school for Evil and Agatha in the school for Good. Immediately realizing which school the bird had dropped her at, Sophie began to seek for correction and protest that she wasn't meant to be in the school for Evil. The adventure begins from here as Sophie begins to seek a way to switch schools while Agatha seeks for way back to their village. To know how their story ends, you have to watch the movie.

My Opinion About The Movie And Rating.

This movie had the potential of becoming a blockbuster but the filmmakers did explore that aspect. Now I am not saying that the movie is not interesting to watch, but it lacks seasoning. Earlier in this post, I mentioned that this book was adapted from a book series with the same title and I have read so many positive reviews about the book before, but the movie has received a lot of negative reviews. When I started watching the movie, I couldn't make out what I was really watching for one hour, then I fell asleep and they woke up again to finish the movie. Don't get me wrong, the plot of the movie is direct and easy to understand but it was just too bland for me.

The plot, setting, and costumes; talking about the plot, I felt a lot of holes within the story and I knew straight away this movie was poorly scripted. Note I have not read the book, but still, I could feel that a huge chunk of the story was missing which could have actually made the movie lengthy. So the solution for this flaw is that they should have made this movie adaptation into a TV series which will in turn give them the perfect space and time to develop the stories and characters well. The setting was amazing, no doubt about that. The costumes were fabulous and right on point.

The stunts and action; watching the stunts and action of this movie, I actually thought I was watching some old Bollywood because at a point, it all became unrealistic. I had to pause the movie to check whether the director was Indian or a Bollywood person. At some point during the action stunts, I was afraid for the actors' life because of how the stunts were performed. For the action part, I expected more since it is all based on fairytales. I expect a lot of magic stuff, strong packed actions that could give one chills but it's all child play, like a mockery of the book series.

The actors; were all below average for performance even though the movie starred Kerry Washington and Charlize Theron. There was poor acting all through, they focused on making their actor look pretty and appearance instead of taking their performance seriously. I didn't really understand why they hired a few star-studded adult casts when the main characters were so poorly cast. It was confusing to me and I saw it as a waste of resources and the actors' time.

The ending gave a hint that there will be a sequel coming up soon. If this first sequel is like this, I am beginning to imagine that the next sequel will be worse and it will be a waste of resources. The ending didn't make any sense to me as it did connect well with the plot. So it will be better there is no sequel of they can't improve.

Rating this movie, I will give 2.5 stars. This movie is meant for teenagers but I think I will read the book series from which the movie was adapted to have my own feel of the full story. That will be much better. Recommending this movie to fantasy lovers and fairytale story lovers. Don't be discouraged by my review, this is my opinion about the movie. You watch the movie and have a different opinion.

This movie could have been a lot better, but no, it lacks appeal, the acting was kinda good, if Sophie would have been slightly better, the movie would have been so good, but no, Sophie was lame. The story is attracting, but the developing is horrible, I wouldn't watch the sequel if there's one.

I agree with you as the trailer made my expectations about the movie high. Though it is my first time seeing Sophie on screen, I was really impressed with her performance as the lead actor.

I wouldn't watch the sequel if there's one.

😂 Am with you on this.

Thank you so much for your positive feedback and support. I appreciate your comment.!CTP
