Viola Got Me Through! G20 (2025) || Movie Review.

Viola Davis is one of the actresses in Hollywood whose work I always look forward to seeing. Ever since she won my heart and attention in the popular TV series How To Get Away With Murder, and movie The Help, I have always enjoyed watching her films. I try not miss any of her works.

Davis is an amazing actor that commands the attention of her viewers with strong and unforgettable performance. She always plays her roles with passion and zeal. She holds the spotlight and maintains it to the end of the film. From her performance, you can tell she always put a lot of effort into bringing her character to life and makes it easier for her fans and viewers to connect.

G20 is an action thriller film directed by Patricia Riggen and written by Caitlin Parrish along side Erica Weiss, Logan and Noah Miller.

The movie starred quite some notable actors like Viola Davis as POTUS, the famous actor from The Boys TV series-Antony starr, Anthony Anderson, Marsai Martin, Ramón Rodríguez, Douglas Hodge, Elizabeth Marvel, Sabrina Impacciatore and Clark Gregg. Also, the movie was distributed by Amazon MGM Studios.

I won't be talking about the plot of this movie because I don't want to spoil the movie and I want you to go and watch this movie blindly to enjoy it.

My Review And Rating.

I saw this movie without watching any of the trailers or reading the synopsis. I went in blind and that's the best way to watch movies in my opinion. After watching the movie, I saw many reviews online that were harsh and negative. I wondered why all the hate. Also before you see this movie, please know that it is not an Oscar award kind of movie.

Well, G20 is an amazing action thriller that is fast-paced, interesting, engaging, entertaining and a little bit intense. It is very simple yet unique in it's own way. However, I still have somethings about the movie that I wish the creators had taken the time to work them in properly.

The plot is good, fascinating and the plot twist at the end was unexpected. The storytelling was great. The action scenes were packed with tension and suspense that kept on the edge of my seat.

Anthony Anderson playee the villian impressively. I like that the character was well developed such that he was a worthy opponent to Viola. The villian’s aim was to set a neutral ground between the rich and the poor. In his belief, he was against the concentration of power in a few hands. True, this sounded like a worthy cause but the villian forgot his purpose along the way and chose to amass the wealth for himself.

Interestingly, the movie covered recent global events like crypto, stock market and political intrigues. And how the wealthy use the crypto and stock to manipulate the economy to further their ambitions for power and global control.

I admired Viola Davis’s role as the protagonist and POTUS. She didn't just play a damsel in distress president but was trained to fight and hold her own. It came in handy when they were held hostage. She really embodied the role perfectly by multitasking as the president, a wife and a caring mother.

The cinematography of the movie was well done. The locations were beautiful to watch, especially where the conference was held in South Africa. The action sequences were impressive to watch. I loved Viola Davis in action. I doubt if she had a stunt double for her role.

Though some critics negatively reviewed the film saying the plot was predictable and poorly written. I think the harsh critics said all those things because the role of POTUS was played by a black person and a woman. In other words, their criticism were race and gender related. In my opinion, the movie was well done though not perfect.

Rating this movie, I will give it 7.5 stars out of 10. Its an entertaining and thrilling action thriller. The cast did great and the themes covered in the movie are easily relatable. Let me know your thoughts on the movie if you have seen it.
