Zach brought a twisted horror with lots of mysteries that keep you wondering what is really going on. Barbarian is an American horror movie that was distributed by 20th Century Studios. Directed and written by Zach Cregger. This movie is not just any type of horror but horror with a twisted mystery that keeps your mind active with lots of questions. When I saw this movie I didn't know anything about it, did watch any teaser/trailer, or even read any reviews/critics. I went in blind and I was super impressed with the movie at the end of the day. To make this movie more enjoyable for those that have not seen it, I will be very vague, no spoilers and I will talk about what I love about the movie.

The following actors starred in the movie; Roy Lee, Arnon Milchan, Justin Long, Bill Skarsgård, Georgina Campbell , and Zach Cregger. This movie revolves around a young woman, Tess, who books a remote Airbnb while in Detroit for a job interview. On getting to the booked apartment she discovers that it was occupied already by a man, Keith who said he rented the apartment through a different app.

Tess finds herself stranded with no other options for shelter for the night. So she had to spend the night in the apartment with the plan of going to her job interview the next day. Things became creepy, weird, and unexpected the next day and Tess realized things are happening in the Airbnb that she needs to be afraid of. You have to watch the movie to know what happens afterward

What I love about This movie.

The barbarian is a movie that I have been waiting to see from Hollywood for a very long time because of how the plot is arranged and in turn, makes the storyline of the movie reinvent itself. What I mean is that this movie makes the audience believe they know what is going on in the movie but then a scene changes the whole thing unexpectedly making it seem it's something else entirely. Watching the movie, I thought I knew where the story was going but everything changed instantly by pointing me into another fresh direction/aspect of the storyline that is yet to be developed. Every scene was introduced unexpectedly but with an intriguing start. I will give it to the director for pulling it off successfully without losing the interest of the viewers and I will say it is an amazing technique every horror film makers should adopt as it keeps the viewers solidly on the edge of their seats of what happens next in a movie!

What I love about this movie is seeing Justin Long. It was surprising to me because I have been wondering what he has been up to these days. Justin's film career is more about comedy but his role in horror films like Jeepers Creepers, and Drag Me To Hell were amazing and I enjoyed his performance. So seeing him in this movie just sealed the deal for me and I knew wherever this movie was going, it was going to be a wild experience for me. Not to forget I had so many laughs throughout this movie as Justin's character was introduced in each scene. I never thought a little bit of comedy would fit into a movie but it did because of him as he brought all his charms and mannerisms with him.

The cast of this movie was a small one but they did a good job with each of their roles respectfully. Georgina Campbell and Bill Skarsgård performed well, though Bill still reminds me of Pennywises and I saw some of the mannerisms but still, he performed well. Let's talk about the lighting of this movie. Most of the scenes were dark as the lights were scarce. The only source of light were phone lights and torchlights. This effect kept making my eyes wander to every corner of the screen with full concentration and anticipation of what horrific scene would play next or what would happen next. This effect glues the viewers to the screen as they anticipate the next move of each character.

Talking about the scenes and images of this movie, I would refer to it as unsettling and disturbing because that was the feeling I got after seeing the movie. The scenes were dark, wild, gore, and disturbing to watch. One thing that pissed me off about this movie was how the characters made some silly and stupid decisions that I didn't think the characters would do based on the ccharacters' personalities. I wished that characters were allowed to be normal people without not having to do the "stupid character horror thing" to keep the storyline flowing. Well, I guess horror movie characters need to make stupid decisions (I mean, how would the characters get in trouble?).

Rating this movie, it is an 8 out of 10 for me and I am recommending this movie to horror lovers. If you don't have the heart for disturbing images and scenes, don't watch this movie.

A horror with a twisted mystery! 😃 That sound very intriguing. Why would I spend the night with a stranger in the same Airbnb? 🤔 I won't judge the lady in this movie but it's not something I would do.

Thanks for sharing this nice review. I hope it's not too scary. 😃😂
