The Frozen Ground is an American thriller and mystery film released in 2013. It was written and directed by Scott Walker. As I mentioned earlier, it is based on the crimes of serial killer Robert Hansen and the legacy of blood he left behind. It stars Nicolas Cage, John Cusack, Vanessa Hudgens, Katherine LaNasa, Radha Mitchell, and 50 Cent.
Caza al asesino es una película de suspenso y misterio estadounidense, estrenada en el año 2013. Fue escrita y dirigida por Scott Walker. Como decía anteriormente, está basada en los crímenes del asesino en serie Robert Hansen y el legado de sangre que dejó atrás. The film recounts the investigation of an Alaska police officer to apprehend Hansen, through his partnership with a young woman who escaped the killer's clutches. Cindy Paulson, 17, is found handcuffed in a room by a police officer. At the police station, she explains to detectives that she was kidnapped and raped by a man. However, they do not believe her history because she is a prostitute and decide that her testimony is not credible. The officer who finds her becomes upset and passes her case on to the Alaska State Police. There, Officer Jack Halcombe, who had been investigating the disappearance of several women in the area, begins to connect the dots between the cases.
La película relata la investigación de un policía de Alaska, para aprehender a Hansen, mediante la asociación con una joven mujer que escapó de las garras del asesino. Cindy Paulson, de 17 años de edad, es encontrada esposada en un cuarto por un oficial de policía. En la comisaría explica a los detectives que fue secuestrada y violada por un hombre. Sin embargo, no le dan crédito a su historia debido a que se dedica a la prostitución y deciden que su testimonio no es creíble. El oficial que la encuentra se molesta y pasa su caso a la policía estatal de Alaska. Allí el oficial Jack Halcombe, que venía investigando la desaparición de varias mujeres de la zona, comienza a atar cabos entre los casos.

The Frozen Ground is a typical, well-crafted detective story that, if you like suspense, you will love. It is based on a true story: serial killer Robert Hansen, who between 1970 and 1983 kidnapped, raped, and murdered between 17 and 30 women in the Anchorage, Alaska, area. His method was hunting, as he saw them as animals. He would release them into the woods, give them a chance to run, and then hunt them down with a gun. He was arrested in September 1983 and sentenced to 461 years without the possibility of parole.

Está basada en un caso real: el asesino en serie Robert Hansen, que entre los años 1970 y 1983 secuestró, violó y asesinó entre 17 y 30 mujeres en los alrededores de Anchorage, Alaska. El método que usaba era la caza, ya que las veía como animales. Las soltaba en el bosque, les daba la oportunidad de correr y las cazaba con un arma. The film follows the history of Detective Jack Halcombe, played by Nicolas Cage, who acts very well and I thought the way he brings the character to life was excellent. Halcombe investigates the disappearance and death of several women who seem to be connected to a specific site in Alaska. However, he finds himself stuck, unable to solve the case. When he meets the young prostitute, played by Cindy Paulson, who manages to escape from the monster in the woods, he begins to see the case more clearly and realizes that the man who attacked her is a possible suspect, and even ends up discovering his guilt.
La película sigue la historia del detective Jack Halcombe, interpretado por Nicolas Cage, que actúa muy bien y me pareció excelente la forma en que le da vida al personaje. Halcombe investiga la desaparición y la muerte de varias mujeres que parecen estar conectadas a un sitio específico en Alaska. Sin embargo, se encuentra estancado al no poder resolver el caso. Cuando conoce a la joven prostituta, interpretada por Cindy Paulson, que logra escapar del monstruo del bosque, comienza a ver más claro el caso y se da cuenta de que el hombre que la atacó es un posible sospechoso, e incluso termina descubriendo su culpabilidad.
The problem, and the twist in the story, is that the detective has no proof of Hansen's guilt. He begins to have doubts when he discovers that the man has a family, children, and a perfectly normal life; he doesn't seem to be the twisted, cruel hunter he is looking for. So he teams up with the young prostitute to catch him. Meanwhile, the killer tries to get her out of the way, putting her life in danger. I don't want to give away the ending, but the history already tells it. You have to see it, it's very interesting.
El problema, y giro de la historia, está en que el detective no tiene pruebas de la culpabilidad de Hansen. Y comienza a dudar cuando descubre que el hombre tiene familia, hijos y una vida de lo más normal; no parece ser el cazador retorcido y cruel que busca. Entonces se une con la joven prostituta para poder atraparlo. A todo esto, el asesino intenta quitarla del medio, poniendo en peligro su vida. No es mi intención descubrir el final, no obstante la historia ya lo cuenta. Tienen que verla, es muy interesante.
