Pet Sematary: Bloodlines/Cementerio de animales: el origen
This movie is set 50 years before the events of the previous film (1969) and tells the story of a young man, Jud Crandall. He discovers the dark secrets hidden in his hometown of Ludlow, Maine, which are linked to his family. These events will trigger his destiny and force him to face the evil that lies beneath the ground.

The plot revolves around Jud Crandall, a young man who wants to escape his town but never manages to do so for one reason or another. An ancient mistake hangs over the young man's family, one of the town's founding families, who have a duty to hide the cemetery so that the mistakes of the past are not repeated. However, one of them falls prey to the cemetery and the evil that resides within it. Jud reaches a crossroads when one of his friends returns from Vietnam somewhat “different,” and his twisted behavior leads him to believe that something is not right. Death begins to spread through the town, and he and a friend try to discover what is happening.
La trama gira alrededor de Jud Crandall, un joven que quiere escapar de su pueblo sin conseguirlo nunca por uno u otro motivo. A través de su historia vamos descubriendo los orígenes del mal que rodea al cementerio maldito, de los indígenas y del pueblo Ludlow. Una ancestral equivocación pende de la familia del joven, perteneciente a una de las familias fundadoras del pueblo, quienes tienen el deber de ocultar el cementerio para que los errores del pasado no se repitan. Sin embargo, un de ellos cae presa del cementerio y del mal que reside en él. Jud llega a una encrucijada cuando uno de sus amigos vuelve de Vietnam algo “diferente” y es tal su retorcido comportamiento que lo llevan a pensar que algo no anda bien. La muerte comienza a esparcirse por el pueblo y él y un amigo tratarán de descubrir qué es lo que ocurre.

The therapist, Dr. Rose Cotter, who works in an emergency psychiatric hospital, receives a peculiar patient in her office. The young woman, Laura Weaver, arrives in a state of terror and tells her that she recently witnessed the suicide of a professor at the university. She also tells her that since then she has been terrorized by a demonic entity invisible to others that appears as several smiling people and has predicted her death. Suddenly, Laura begins to scream and panic. Rose calls for help, but when she turns around, she sees Laura calm and smiling, only to then slit her own throat, terrifying Rose. Rose then begins to fall prey to the supposed identity, turning her world upside down.

Smile shows horror in a different way, as it is psychological terror. The smile is an allusion to the psychological traumas we all go through in life and is transmitted like a virus, where shock is its conduit of infection. The vivid images of the smiling demon are spectacular, and the combination of what is “real” and what the protagonist “sees” is so good that you often don't see certain situations coming, causing you to jump in your seat. The doctor strives to discover what is happening and how to solve it, although the solution is even more perverse than her fate, which is revealed from the beginning: death. This curse will lead her to face her own traumas, which she has been carrying since childhood and which still cause her problems in the present. A great movie to watch on Halloween.
Smile muestra el horror de una manera diferente, ya que es un terror psicológico. La sonrisa es una alusión a los traumas psicológicos que todos atravesamos en la vida y se transmite como un virus, donde el shock es su conducto de infección. Las imágenes vívidas del demonio de la sonrisa son espectaculares y la combinación de lo que es “real” y lo que la protagonista “ve” es tan bueno que muchas veces no ves venir ciertas situaciones y provoca que saltes en el asiento. La doctora se esmera en descubrir qué ocurre y cómo lo soluciona, aunque la solución es más perversa aún que su destino, descubierto desde el inicio: la muerte. Esta maldición la llevará a enfrentar sus propios traumas, que arrastra desde la niñez y que le causan aún problemas en el presente. Una película genial para ver en Halloween.
The Watchers/Observados
This film tells the story of Mina, a young woman who works in a pet shop, when her boss gives her the task of delivering a golden parrot to a zoo. On the way, her car breaks down and leaves her stranded in the middle of a forest. When she leaves the forest and walks a few steps, she turns around and realizes that it has disappeared. Lost in the forest, she finds an elderly woman who tells her that they must find shelter before nightfall.
Esta película relata la historia de Mina, una joven que trabaja en una tienda de mascotas, cuando su jefe le encarga la tarea de entregar un loro dorado a un zoológico. En el camino, su auto se estropea y la deja varada en medio de un bosque. Cuando sale de este y camina unos pasos, al darse la vuelta se da cuenta de que ha desaparecido. Perdida en el bosque, encuentra a una anciana que le dice que deben encontrar un refugio antes de que anochezca.
Mina follows this old woman, Madeline, to a bunker-like building in the middle of the forest, nicknamed “The Coop,” where she meets two other occupants, Ciara and Daniel. Madeline explains that mysterious entities called “The Watchers” observe the group through the Coop's mirrored window every night. They must show off their skills as if on a reality show and spend the night there until the next morning, when Mina learns “the rules”: the Watchers attack anyone who goes out at night, and they cannot go near their burrows, a set of underground tunnels where they spend the day. When they break these rules, the problems begin. They will try to survive the enraged creatures.
Mina sigue a esta anciana, Madeline, hasta un edificio parecido a un búnker en medio del bosque, apodado "The Coop", y allí conoce a otros dos ocupantes, Ciara y Daniel. Madeline explica que unas entidades misteriosas llamadas "Los Vigilantes" observan al grupo a través de la ventana de espejo del Coop todas las noches. Deben mostrar sus habilidades como en un reality show y así pasan la noche hasta la mañana siguiente, donde Mina conoce “las reglas”: los vigilantes atacan a cualquiera que salga de noche y no pueden acercarse a sus madrigueras, un conjunto de túneles bajo tierra donde pasan el día. Al romper estas reglas comienzan los problemas. Intentarán sobrevivir a las criaturas enfurecidas.
