It started when a university student was having difficulties in getting his money back from another student who was owing him, he called his friends in other to retrieve the money, and he asked for his friend's help. But an issue arises. These college students are merely attempting to get their money back when the town in which this is taking place invokes jungle justice.

The four students Toku Lloyd, Tekena Elkanah, Chiadika Biringa, and Ugonna Obuzor were charged with taking a cell phone and a laptop in the village when they went to collect their friend's money, rather than reporting the supposed theft to the authorities, the accusation led a crowd to take matters into their own hands and seek vigilante justice.

The four students sobbed and explained to the throng that they were students, not thieves, and they came to collect money from a student who lives in the village, The crowd ignored them and kept torturing them, one vigilante took their ID cards and hid them for the purpose of injustice.

The four young men were brutally attacked by the crowd, who beat them fiercely and subjected them to unspeakable brutality. They were beaten mercilessly, bound, and stripped numb. The victims' tormentors showed no mercy, and their cries for their lives were ignored

Even though the attack was horrifying, no one stepped in to put an end to the violence from the crowd. The absence of action was a terrifying reflect of the systemic problems with jungle justice and the incapacity of the state to defend its people.

After being beaten the life out of them, the four students had no one prepared to rescue them, not even a few police officers who arrived at the scene but were unable to help them due to their avaricious nature. The villagers doused them in fuel and lit a match, burning the four of them mercilessly

Sadly, Toku Lloyd, Tekena Elkanah, Chiadika Biringa, and Ugonna Obuzor died at the hands of their attackers. The most horrific aspect of this terrifying experience was that it happened during the day
within the confines of a university campus, where students are supposed to be safe.

The Uniport scandal incited public resentment and initiated a national dialogue regarding the frequency of violence from the crowd and the necessity of legal reform. The murderers' deeds as well as the structural flaws that permitted such a horrible deed to take place were brought to light, exposing the murky edge of society.

The terrible incidents that transpired at the University of Port Harcourt in October 2012 serve as a constant reminder of the negative effects of mob justice and the pressing need for social change. A powerful symbol of the struggle against injustice and the pursuit of a more just and equitable society is the memory of Ugonna Obuzor, Toku Lloyd, Tekena Elkanah, and Chiadika Biringa.
