Hello dear Hive users, I hope you are well. I wanted to start the week with a TV series review. The series I'm going to talk about is actually an old series that most people have heard of, called ‘The Vampire Diaries’.

I remember the first time I watched The Vampire Diaries, I was still a high school student. I remember watching the first episode on a channel called Cnbc-e, which was on Turkish television at the time, as if it were yesterday. Even though the series is old, I had the opportunity to watch it from start to finish for the first time this year. I had watched it a few times before, but I always got bored and stopped after seasons 6-7. This time, I convinced myself and managed to finish it completely.
Before moving on to the series review, I want to recall the characters.

Elena GILBERT
The female lead of the series is a 17-year-old high school student. I can say that the whole series revolves around her. Unfortunately, throughout the series, she was often a character I would describe as whiny and boring. I also got extra annoyed with her constantly switching between her two brothers. Especially in the episodes where she turns into a vampire, her boring behavior sometimes made me want to fast-forward the show. If there's one thing I liked about Elena, it's that she keeps a diary. Even though the show is called The Vampire Diaries, who keeps a diary these days?

Stefan SALVATORE
One of the male leads in the series, our 100-something-year-old vampire high school student. If we say he's better than the Salvatore brothers, we wouldn't be wrong at first, but later on, we learn from Stefan's journals that he also had a period in his past when he was a killer.
Throughout the series, Stefan's constant pain, his overly thoughtful nature, and Elena leaving things up to her own decisions were things that annoyed me. Unlike his brother, his respect for other people's opinions sometimes led to less than desirable outcomes. One of the most beautiful things I can say about Stefan is that, despite his love for his brother ending his life, he smiled at his brother in the final scene and said, “Hello, brother,” which was absolutely legendary.

Damon SALVATORE
The character who appears to be the bad brother in the series but, through his character development throughout the series, sometimes irritates us, often leaves us in awe, and is thoughtless and selfish. The man who, when he first appeared in the series, was determined to make his brother's life miserable, but in later episodes, due to the overwhelming love he felt for his brother, was able to give up even the woman he was in love with, proving himself to be a magnanimous character.

Bonnie BENNET
In my opinion, she is the most underutilized, underappreciated character in the series. Because she was such a powerful witch, everyone took advantage of her, and unfortunately, she was never able to look out for her own interests. She lost her grandmother and the man she loved (Enzo) because of those she cared about. I'm frustrated with the writer for this; at least by the end of the series, they could have brought Enzo back to life somehow. If Alaric, who had been dead for months, could return, then I think he could have too.
Even though the man she loved died in the end (this character's face never smiled with love throughout the series), Bonnie somehow pulled herself together and stepped out into the world, which at least eased my mind a little.

Caroline FORBES
She started the series as a dumb blonde but managed to captivate us with her character development. Especially her surrogacy for Alaric and Jo's twin babies put her in a different place in our eyes. Caroline had relationships with different people throughout the series, but her relationship with Tyler and the one she couldn't have with Klaus were particularly interesting. I can definitely say Klaus was number one among them. But in the final seasons of the series, after Stefan's relationship with Elena ended, it was frankly ridiculous that his close friendship with Caroline turned into love. I wish Caroline could have had the relationship she never had with Klaus, and Stefan could have started a new adventure with Valerie, his first love who appeared as a guest star in the series.

Katherine PIERCE
The series' evil, selfish, jealous, and most iconic character. Because she is Elena's doppelganger, she often deceives people by looking exactly the same. In a way, this girl is the reason the Salvatore brothers became enemies. Both brothers fell in love with the same girl in 1864, and when they turned into vampires, the drama began. When Katherine, who was believed to have died years ago, suddenly reappeared, the series really came to life. I definitely applaud actress Nina DOBREV for portraying two different characters with the same appearance throughout the series. As much as we were annoyed with Elena throughout the series, we loved the villainous Katherine just as much. In the end, I think it was epic for her to die in the arms of the only man she loved (Stefan). Even though she didn't want to die.

Mat DONOVAN
Mat, who I thought was one of the most pointless characters throughout the series, managed to remain human by the end of the 8th season and eventually took the sheriff's seat left vacant by Liz FORBES. I can say he had a nice ending, except for the deaths of his sister and the girl he loved (Vicky and Penny).

Jeremy GILBERT
Elena's character, who often appears in the series, is strong in the midst of tearful moments. I especially liked him during his relationship with Bonnie, but for some reason, he was absent when Bonnie escaped from the World of the Dead. We finally saw him for about two seconds in the last episode after a long time.

Tyler LOCKWOOD
Cursed because of the werewolf gene, he was saved from this curse by Klaus, but then had to be loyal to Klaus, so he could never relax. In the end, he died in a ridiculous way. His relationship with Caroline for a while was one of the things that elevated his character development.

Alaric SALTZMAN
He entered the series as a history teacher, and we learned he was a vampire hunter. Especially after becoming a father, his change and his interest in Caroline were solely because Caroline carried and gave birth to his daughters and they spent some time together. After all, Caroline was once his student. I don't like this kind of thing, and it annoyed me that he treated Stefan badly because of it.

There are other characters I want to mention, but since they also appear in another series, The Originals, I want to comment on them there. For now, I've only commented on the characters here. Vampir günlüklerini ilk kez izlediğim zamanı hatırlıyorum da henüz lise öğrencisiydim. O zamanlar Türk televizyonlarında yayın hayatında olan Cnbc-e diye bir kanalda ilk bölümünü izlemem dün gibi aklımda. Her ne kadar dizi eski olsa da ben diziyi ilk kez bu sene baştan sona izleyebilme fırsatı buldum. Daha önceleri birkaç kez izlemiştim ama hep 6.-7. sezonlardan sonra sıkılıp bırakırdım. Bu kez kendimi ikna ettim ve tam anlamıyla bitirebildim .
Dizi yorumuna geçmeden önce karakterleri hatırlayalım istiyorum.

Elena GILBERT
Dizinin kadın başrolü 17 yaşında bir lise öğrencisi. Bütün dizi aslında onun etrafında geçiyor diyebilirim. Dizi boyunca sık sık ne kadar ağlak , sıkıcı diyeceğim bir karakter oldu maalesef. Bir de iki kardeş arasında kalıp bir ona bir buna dönüp durmasına ekstra sinirlendim. Özellikle vampire dönüştüğü bölümlerde ki sıkıcı halleri diziyi bazen 2x'e almama sebep oldu. Elena ile ilgili sevdiğim bir şeye gelecek olursak günlük tutması diyebilirim. Her ne kadar dizinin adı Vampir Günlükleri olsa da kim bu zamanda günlük tutuyor ki ..

Stefan SALVATORE
Dizinin erkek başrollerinden 100 küsür yaşındaki vampir lise öğrencimiz. Salvotore kardeşlerden de iyi olan dersek başta yanılmayız tabi daha sonra onun da mazisinde bir karındeşen olduğu dönemler var ki sormayın tabi bu zamanları da Stefan'ın günlüklerinde okuyoruz.
Dizi boyunca Stefan'ın sürekli acılı halde , aşırı düşünceli halleri ve olayları Elena'nın kendi kararlarına göre bırakması beni sinirlendiren şeylerdendi. Abisinin aksine başklarının fikirlerine saygı duyması sonucu bazen hiç de güzel sonuçlar doğurmuyordu. Stefan için diyebileceğim en güzel şeylerden birisi de abisine duyduğu sevginin onun hayatını bitirmesine rağmen son sahnede bile abisine gülümseyerek 'Merhaba kardeşim' demesi kesinlikle efsaneydi.

Damon SALVATORE
Dizinin, kötü erkek kardeşi gibi görününen ama dizi boyunca yaşadığı karakter gelişimiyle bikzi bazen sinirlendiren, çoğu zaman hayran bıraktıran, düşüncesiz ve bencil adamı. Diziye ilk gelişinde hayatı erkek kardeşine zehir etmek olan adamın , ilerleyen bölümlerde kardeşine duyduğu sevginin ağır basmasından dolayı aşık olduğu kadından bile vazgeçebilecek yüce gönüllü bir karakter kendisi.

Bonnie BENNET
İşte dizinin bence en çok harcanan, değeri bilinmeyen karakteri. Güçlü bir cadı olması sebebiyle herkesin o kadar işine yaradı ki maalesef kendi çıkarlarını hiç önemseyemedi. Sevdikleri yüzünden büyükannesini, sevdiği adamı(Enzo) kaybetti. Senariste bu yüzden sinirliyim , en azından dizinin sonunda bir şekilde Enzo'yu hayata getirebilirdi ki aylarca ölü kalmış Alaric karakteri gelebiliyorsa bence o da gelebilirdi.
Her ne kadar sonunda sevdiği adam ölse de (bu karakterin yüzü dizi boyunca aşktan yana gülmedi) Bonnie bir şekilde toparlanmış ve dünya seyetaine çıkıyordu bu en azından bir nebze de olsa içimi rahatlattı.

Caroline FORBES
Diziye aptal sarışın olarak başlayıp yaşadığı karakter gelişimiyle bizi büyülemeyi başarmış bir kişi oldu. Özellikle Alaric ve Jo'nun ikiz bebeklerine taşıyıcı annelik yapması onu gözümüzde farklı yere konumlandırdı. Caroline karakteri dizi boyunca farklı kişilerle ilişkileri oldu ama özellikle Tyler yaşadığı ve Klaus'la yaşayamadığı ilişki çok ilgi çekiciydi. Klaus kesinlikle bir numaraydı diyebilirim aralarında. Ama dizinin son sezonlarında Stefan'ın Elena'dan sonra boşa düşünce Caroline ile yakın arkadaş ilişkilerinin aşka dönüşmesi açıkcası saçmaydı. Keşke Caroline Klaus'la bir türlü yaşayamadığı ilişkiyi yaşasaydı , Stefan da diziye konuk oyuncu olarak gelen ilk aşkı olan Valeri ile yeni bir serüvene başlayabilseydi.

Katherine PIERCE
Dizinin kötü , bencil, kıskanç ve en ikonik karakteri . Elena'nın görsel ikizi olma sebebiyle birebir aynı görüntüye sebep olmalarından dolayı çoğu kez insanları kandırıyor. Zaten Salvatore kardeşlerin düşman olma sebebi de bir nevi bu kızımız. İki erkek kardeş de 1864 yılında yanı kıza aşık olup vampire dönüşünce olaylar başlıyor. Yıllar önce öldü sanılan Katherine birden ortaya çıkınca dizi renk kazandı diyebilirim. Dizi boyunca aynı görüntüde iki farklı karakteri yaşatan oyuncu Nina DOBREV'i kesinlikle kutluyorum. Dizi boyunca Elena'ya ne kadar sinir oluyorsak kötü karakter olan Katherine'i o kadar sevdik. En sonunda da bence sevdiği tek adamın kollarında (Stefan) ölüme gitmesi onun açısından da epik oldu. Her ne kadar ölmek istemese de.

Mat DONOVAN
Dizi boyunca bence en boş karakterlerden olan Mat ,8 sezonun sonunda bir şekilde insan kalabildi ve sonunda da Liz FORBES'tan boş kalan şerif koltuğuna oturabildi. Kız kardeşi ve sevdiği kızın (Vicky ve Penny) ölümü hariç güzel bir son yaşadı diyebilirim .

Jeremy GILBERT
Elena'nın çoğu zaman ağlak aralarda güçlü duran diziye bir katılıp bir çıkan karakteri. Özellikle Bonnie'yle yaşadığı ilişki dönemlerinde kendisini Bonnie'den dolayı sevmiştim ama nedense Bonnie Kodes Dünya'dan kurtulup geldiğinde kendisi yoktu. Uzun süre sonra son bölümde 2 saniye falan görebildik.

Tyler LOCKWOOD
Kurtadam geni yüzünden lanetlenip, bu lanetten de Klaus sayesinde kurtulup daha sonra Klaus'a bağlı olmak zorunda olması yüzünden bir türlü rahat edemedi zaten en sonunda da saçma bir şekilde öldü. Caroline ile bir dönem yaşadığı ilişki karakter gelişimi olarak onu da yükselten şeylerden oldu.

Alaric SALTZMAN
Diziye tarih öğretmeni olarak girip vampir avcısı olduğunu öğrendiğimiz karakter. Özellikle baba olduktan sonra değişmesi ve Caroline'a ilgi duyması sırf Caroline kızlarını karnında taşıdı ve doğurdu ve bir süre zaman geçirdiler diye. Sonuçta Caroline bir zamanlar öğrencisiydi bu tarz şeyleri çok sevmem bir de Stefan'a bu yüzden kötü davranması beni sinirlendirdi.

Bahsetmek istediğim başka karakterler de var ama onlar diğer bir dizi olan The Originals'da da oynadıkları için onları orada yorumlamak istiyorum. Şimdilik sadece burada karakterleri yorumladım bir sonraki postta dizinin içeriği, yaşanılanlar ve benim bunlara yorumlarım olacak.
