Today, Sunday April 17, I want to share my reflection and review on the film "King Richard", although it is a film that was released in the middle of last year, I had not had the time to watch it and yesterday with my wife I was able to watch the film starring Will Smith, a public figure that after his controversy in the academy awards has given much to talk about, but it is another matter, and forgetting that event, remember that because of the role played by Will in this film he has won the Oscar for best actor. I confess that Smith has not been one of my favorite actors, but there is no denying that he has had an interesting and successful career, and undoubtedly in my opinion the Academy owed him this award.

Now, as I mentioned in the title there will be no spoilers, so you can continue reading if you haven't seen this movie yet, and if you, dear reader, have already seen this movie, it would be an honor for me if you would leave me in the comments your perception of the movie and how much you liked the writing you will read below.

Let's talk first about the movie itself, but first I want to make it clear that what you will read below is my personal opinion, in fact, as I said before it was only yesterday that I saw the movie, and what I could appreciate of it has only rested in me overnight. The movie "King Richard" is a film that focused on showing the childhood and early career of the famous tennis players Venus and Serena Williams, but having as a central axis their father, their first coach and first pillar in what was the career of these tennis players.

But beyond showing a little of how was the life of these incredible athletes, the film reveals social problems of the 80s in the U.S., but above all shows us how parents of 5 girls try not only to give them a good education but also how these social problems made their job as parents something uphill. This biographical film not only honors the father of the tennis players, but leaves us powerful teachings or at least that is what I consider, of the psychology and attitude of Mr. Richard Williams, if you want to know the details of the plot you have to see the film, in my case already having seen only half of the film I realized how deserved Will Smith had the academy award.

If you ask me: What is the lesson that the film taught you?

I would answer that there are several lessons, the personality of Mr. Richard Williams has certain things that are worthy of admiration if you look at it from a certain approach, because like every human being he is not perfect, he has his own struggles and flaws, his vulnerabilities and that these vulnerabilities was not something he tried to hide from his daughters, he showed himself as he is, both his fears and his ambitions. If anything stuck with me from the film, it was the importance of determination and the power of conviction.
The father of these tennis players was not only their first coach but he taught them the value of planning, the importance of visualizing where we want to get to and work for it, personally I must say that the personality of Mr. Richard is very interesting, on the one hand his determination leads him to behave in a certain way, and I think that to achieve a goal is important to think that the goal has already been achieved in part, although there is the possibility of not reaching it in the planning is not an option. In fact, I am left with a lapidary phrase and this is the only thing I will say about the film with respect to its plot.

"If you don't have a plan, you are planning to fail."

When I heard this phrase, I kept thinking about it for a few minutes and made a mental note, I said to myself this phrase cannot be forgotten, because it touches me a lot personally speaking, I am a person who sometimes tends to procrastinate and planning is not something I am very good at, and for this reason, that movie has left me with this huge teaching.

Although it is a little long, we are talking about more than two hours, it is a real gem, every minute is really important, it is a movie that I feel is very well made, and if you are a tennis fan you will know how the story of Venus and Serena ends, but in this movie the important thing is not the end but the whole plot. If you haven't seen it you should do it as soon as possible. I really recommend it a lot.

King Richard o la importancia de la determinación (Sin Spoilers)

Hoy domingo 17 de abril quiero compartir mi reflexión y crítica sobre la película “King Richard.”, aunque es un film que se estrenó a mediados del año pasado, no me había dado el tiempo de verla y ayer junto a mi esposa pude mirar la película protagonizada por Will Smith, personaje público que tras su controversia en los premios de la academía ha dado mucho que hablar, pero es harina de otro costal, y olvidando ese evento, recordemos que a causa de el papel desempeñado por Will en esta película se ha llevado el premio Oscar al mejor actor. Confieso que Smith no ha sido de mis actores favoritos, pero no se puede negar que ha tenido una trayectoria interesante y llena de éxitos, y que indudablemente a mi parecer ya la academía le debía este premio.

Ahora bien, como lo mencioné en el título no habrá spoilers, así que puedes continuar con la lectura si aún no has visto esta película, y si usted estimado lector ya ha visto esta película sería para mi un honor que me dejarás en los comentarios tu percepción de la película y que tanto ha sido de tu agrado el escrito que leerás a continuación.

Hablemos en un primer momento sobre la película en sí, pero antes quiero dejar en claro que lo que leerás a continuación es mi opinión personal, de hecho, como lo dije anteriormente fue apenas ayer que ví la película, y lo que pude apreciar de ella solo ha reposado en mí durante la noche. La película “King Richard” es un film que se concentró en mostrar cómo fue la infancia e inicio de trayectoría de las famosas tenistas Venus y Serena Williams, pero teniendo como eje central a su padre, su primer entrenador y primer pilar en lo que fue la carrera de estas tenistas.

Pero más allá de mostrar un poco de cómo fue la vida de estas increíbles atletas, la película devela problemas sociales de los años 80 en los EEUU, pero sobre todo nos muestra cómo unos padres de 5 niñas intenta no solo darles una buena educación sino también, cómo estos problemas sociales hacía de su labor de padres algo cuesta arriba. Esta película de tono biográfico no sólo rinde honor al padre de las tenistas, sino que nos deja poderosas enseñanzas o por lo menos eso es lo que yo considero, de la psicología y actitud del señor Richard Williams, si quieres saber los detalles de la trama tienes que ver el film, en mi caso ya con solo haber visto la mitad de la película me dí cuenta lo merecido que tenía Will Smith el premio de la academía.

Si me preguntas: ¿Cuál es la enseñanza que te dejó la película?

Respondería que son varias las enseñanzas, la personalidad del señor Richard Williams tiene ciertas cosas que son dignas de admiración si la miras desde cierto enfoque, porque como todo ser humano no es perfecto, tiene sus propias luchas y defectos, sus vulnerabilidades y que estas vulnerabilidades no fue algo que intentó ocultarle a sus hijas, se mostró tal cual es, tanto sus miedos como sus ambiciones. Si algo me quedó clavado de la película fue lo importante de la determinación y el poder del convencimiento.

El padre de estas tenistas no solo fue su primer entrenador sino que les enseñó el valor de la planificación, lo importante de visualizar a dónde queremos llegar y trabajar por ello, personalmente debo decir que la personalidad del señor Richard es muy interesante, por un lado su determinación lo lleva a comportarse de cierto modo, y pienso que para alcanzar una meta es importante pensar que ya se ha alcanzado la meta en parte, aunque exista la posibilidad de no alcanzarla en la planificación no es una opción. De hecho, me quedo con una frase lapidaria y esto es lo único que diré de la película con respecto a su trama.

“Si no tienes un plan, estás planeando fracasar.”

Al escuchar esta frase, me quedé pensando en ella unos minutos e hice una nota mental, me dije esta frase no se me puede olvidar, porque me toco mucho personalmente hablando, soy una persona que a veces suele procrastinar y la planificación no es algo que se me da muy bien, y por esta razón, esa película me ha dejado esta enorme enseñanza.

Aunque es un poco larga, hablamos de más de dos horas es una verdadera joya, cada minuto es realmente importante, es una pelicula que siento que esta muy bien hecha, y si eres seguidor del tenis pues sabrás cómo termina la historia de Venus y Serena, pero en esta la película lo importante no es el final sino toda la trama. Si no la has visto debes hacerlo lo más pronto posible. en verdad te la recomiendo un montón.
