Karate Kid Legends 2025 Movie Review

Today i decided to watch the new Karate Kid movie. In general in case you don't know the whole franchise the first movie was released all the way back in 1984 and was iconic back then. Due to the success, we got another one in 1986 and a third one in 1989. The star of the movie back then was Daniel or Ralph Macchio and his teacher, Mr. Miyagi.

Btw there was another one out in 1994 with Mr. Miyagi training a girl and ofc it ended badly. 2010 brought as another Karate Kid but this time the teacher was the one and only Jackie Chan and the student was Jaden Smith. It was a fresh movie and not that bad to be honest.

Then the miracle that is called Cobra Kai came to life. It is a series that was released in 2018 and ended on 2025 with 6 freaking seasons. There we get to see Daniel Larusso and Johnny Lawrence being adults, how life is going for them and how they decided to start training new kids in the art of Karate.

The series is quite good and have that nostalgia feeling all the way. It's literally like you watch a movie from back then don't expect anything fancy in terms of fighting. It has an 8.4/10 in IMDB.

Now, after that short history lesson and the success of the series i don't know who but they decided to have another Karate Kid film but this time combining Jackie Chan and Daniel.

Plot

In Karate Kid Legends we got Li Fong a Kung Fu Prodigy who leaves with his mom in Beijing and trains at his uncle's dojo. His uncle is basically Jackie Chan. His mother doesn't want him to practise Kung Fu because she considers it the reason her other son died. She gets a new job in New York and Li travels with her.

There, quickly he meets Mia a girl of his age who works at a nearby Pizzeria with her father. They become friends and more than that but Mia's ex is the top dog in terms of Karate in the area. So things get heat up, Li seems to be holding back and losing in a fight but a couple of days later he beats 3 adults pay collectors who come after Mia's father.

Her father surprised and astonished, ask him to teach him Kung Fu in order to participate in a tournament to earn some money and pay off his debt. During the match, he gets some unfair hits and get to the emergency room. Li to help him out enrolled to the Karate tournament where Mia's ex is the winner for 5 year in order to earn the prize money (50k) and help out.

Jackie Chan comes all the way from China to train LI and also asks the help of Daniel for that. You can guess the outcome i think!

Good & Bad

In general it's a decent movie but nothing spectacular. When i see Jackie Chan in a movie i know that the fight scenes will be good and also funny and that's exactly what happened. All the actors did a pretty good job as well.

Now, in terms of the scenario, i really didn't like it at all, it seemed quite fast paced. Like how the hell out of nowhere you come to New York with millions of people and you end up during the first 2 days to not only find a beautiful girl that you pretty much like and become close friends, you also beat up 3 adults with weapons but you lose to a kid of your age.

At the same time both of them start having feelings for each other, you start teaching out of nowhere an adult Kung Fu, end up in an underground tournament and participate in another one. Also, Jackie has like secret asian prophet capabilities to sense that he is needed in New York.

Honestly,i would give it a 5.5/10 and that's because it's Jackie in there!
