The Equalizer 3 Movie Review

Yesterday it was movie night and i decided to go and watch on the cinema the Equalizer 3. I am a fan of the franchise and i have watched the other 2 movies and i quite enjoyed both of them to be honest. So with high expectations, i went straight to the cinema. The Equalizer 3 is a 2 hours movie that was released on the 1st of September 2023. The star of the show is ofc Denzel Washington along with Dakota Fanning.

Plot

So Denzel or Robert McCall ends up in a small coastal Italian town after an injury he received. There he meets with the local residents who are all very happy, kind, and friendly, and almost immediately he decides that this is the place for him to stay and live his retired life. Ofc trouble must somehow come otherwise this wouldn't be an Equalizer movie.

In this small town, a local gang comes for collections and apparently, the leader of that gang has ties with the Mafia. To be more precise his brother is the head of a mafia that rules Italy. Now the mafia aside the collections have another plan for that small town. They want to buy most of the land cheaply and then build hotels and casinos. McCall as he grew fond of the place, won't just let the people suffer and ofc he decides to take action and deal with the gang first and then the mafia, his own way.

What I Liked and what i Didn't

To begin with the good things, i really like Denzel as an actor in almost every movie i have seen him, so his acting and in general the acting of everyone was quite good. The sceneries were amazing, you could really feel that italic aura with the small coastal towns and their traditions.

The fight scenes were spot on and one of the reasons the movie franchise has 3 movies already. Fact-paced brutal and gruesome fight scenes with a lot of blood from a highly trained agent. Every time a fight scene came up i was like yeahh come and get some!

Now what i did not like was the lack of plot and i would tie this with the fight scenes as well. Except the fact that the plot was quite direct, you have a trained agent who fights with the mafia and that's that, not even making a bit hard to find the boss, there is also a lack of fight scenes.

Even though the great fight scenes are something that the Equalizer franchise has managed to own, this time not that many fight scenes were included. Maybe because Denzel grew older? i honestly don't know why but if at least we had more great fights and not that "easy to win ones" my overall rating along with most people's ratings may be bigger.

Due to that, i wouldn't suggest going and watching it at the cinema, instead, wait until you can download it or watch it online, it's an enjoyable movie but not a movie you would be "wowing" the whole time, like John Wick for example, or the other Equalizer movies.
