A very entertaining story, in my opinion, with a very well written script and very well narrated, tells us in a very entertaining way and typical of the time the lives of the people who were involved in the signing of said agreement. I will briefly mention my appreciation of what I consider the best film of this year 2023

Hola amigos, hoy quiero hablar de la película reciente de Ben Afleck como director, se trata de la cinta titulada AIR, la historia detrás del logo, nos cuenta los hechos acontecidos detrás de la firma del acuerdo entre la empresa Nike y el por aquél entonces jugador de basket Michael Jordan. Una historia a mi parecer muy entretenida, con un guion muy bien escrito y a su vez muy bien narrado, nos cuenta con una forma muy entretenida y propia de la época la vida de las personas que se vieron involucradas en la firma de dicho acuerdo. Mencionaré brevemente mi apreciación sobre la que considero la mejor película de este año 2023

I was anxiously waiting for this movie, because I am a faithful lover of basketball and my lifelong idol has been Michael Jordan, so a story of how the agreement that changed the history of sports and the origin of the mythical sneakers was signed. That for me was a godsend. I have always respected the work of Ben Afleck as a director, he knows how to tell a story, keep you interested and focused on the events, so for me it was a plus, and if we add to that the participation of Matt Damon, together they make an incredible couple , with a lot of chemistry and charisma on stage.

Estuve esperando con ansiedad esta película, pues soy un fiel amante del basketbol y mi ídolo de toda la vida ha sido Michael Jordan, así que una historia de como se firmó el acuerdo que cambió la historia de los deportes y el origen de las míticas zapatillas, eso para mi fue un regalo del cielo. Siempre he respetado el trabajo de Ben Afleck como director, sabe como contar una historia, mantenerte interesado y enfocado en los acontecimientos, así que para mi era un plus, y si a eso le añadimos la participación de Matt Damon, juntos hacen una pareja increíble, con mucha química y carisma en el escenario.

It shows us that it is not an easy path, the competition in those days was fierce, Adidas and Converse had a monopoly and Nike did not have many opportunities for progress in this area. Matt Damon's superb performance is fantastic, his speech is tremendous, how he formulates the idea and how he then sells it to the rest of the executive team. I rescue Sonny Vaccaro's character having the courage to fight for an idea when you can't see any results, in my opinion this is the message of the film, don't give up on what you think will be a great success.

Matt Damon es Sonny Vaccaro, el ejecutivo de Nike con la misión de rescatar el departamento de basketbol de la empresa, su idea es revolucionaria, la de tomar una futura estrella del baloncesto y apostar todo por ella. Se nos muestra que no es un camino nada fácil, la competencia en aquellos días era feroz, Adidas y Converse tenían el monopolio y Nike no tenía muchas oportunidades de progreso en este ámbito. La soberbia actuación de Matt Damon es fantástica, su discurso es tremendo, como formula la idea y de como luego se encarga de venderla al resto del equipo ejecutivo. Rescato del personaje de Sonny Vaccaro el tener la valentía de luchar por una idea cuando no se puede ver ningún resultado, a mi parecer este es el mensaje de la película, no claudicar ante lo que crees será un gran éxito.

Undoubtedly a great visionary, he can smell the culture of the moment and knows that there is something that needs to be discovered and exploited. I think Ben Afleck does a great job, because he gives his character a wacky humor and this fits perfectly with the spirit of the times, let's not forget that it is the 80s, the Reagan era, so the American Dream is more alive than never and only waits for whoever takes the opportunity and takes advantage of it.

Phil Knight (Ben Affleck) es otro gran personaje, un estratega de negocios y del marketing, encargado de darle un nuevo aire a la empresa para poder competir. Sin duda un gran visionario, puede oler la cultura del momento y sabe que hay algo que necesita ser descubierto y explotado. Ben Afleck creo que hace un gran trabajo, porque dota de un humor extravagante a su personaje y esto encaja perfectamente con el espíritu de la época, no olvidemos que son los 80, la época de Reagan, así que el Sueño Americano está mas vivo que nunca y solo espera quien tome la oportunidad y la aproveche.

His dialogues are incredible and he personifies well how he was safeguarding the interests of his son, who, being his mother, was the first person who believed in his potential. The calls came and went, and in every aspect he did very well, to tell the truth the only thing that I sounded bad is that they didn't give him more minutes on the screen, I feel that he deserved them.

Un punto fuerte de la cinta fue la incorporación de la gran actriz Viola Davis, Oh Dios Mío! su puesta en escena es maravillosa, tengo entendido que el propio Michael Jordan pidió que Viola Davis entrara en el elenco para interpretar a su madre y creo que fue algo muy acertado. Sus diálogos son increibles y personifica bien como estaba salvaguardando los intereses de su hijo, que al ser su madre era la primera persona que creía en su potencial. Las llamadas iban y venía, y en cada aspecto lo hizo muy bien, a decir verdad la única cosa que sondiero mala es que no le dieron más minutos en pantalla, siento que los merecía.

As for the setting, because it is a business story, the office environment is the most suitable, the spaces are used very well and personally I like this type of story where there are many calls, papers, computers and important decisions to make. These spaces remind me a lot of the movie The Big Short from 2015, the executive atmosphere everywhere is very interesting and goes perfectly with the narrative thread. In the same way, the soundtrack is not luck at all, each musical piece was chosen to dress up the important moments of the tape.

En cuanto a la ambientación por ser una historia empresarial el ambiente de oficina es el más indicado, se utilizan muy bien los espacios y en lo personal me gusta este tipo de historias donde hay muchas llamadas, papeles, computadoras y decisiones importantes que tomar. Estos espacios me recuerdan mucho a la película The Big Short del año 2015, la atmósfera ejecutiva por todas partes es muy interesante y está perfectamente con el hilo narrativo. De la misma forma el sountrack no está para nada a la suerte, cada pieza musical fue escogida para aderezar los momentos importantes de la cinta.

The Best decision

Michael Jordan was not incorporated in any way in the film and this seemed to me the best of the best, he is only mentioned and there is not a single image of him, I think this was very successful, because with the figure of Jordan within the story of the film the story would have taken a different turn. I like that his appearance will be in name only. A lot of people would have loved to see Jordan played by an actor, but that's what he wanted to avoid. The story only focused on executives and their desperate struggle not to disappear from the sports market. Another point that many mention is the design of the Air Jordan 1 shoes, the creative process of the designer is never carefully observed, rather it is something very short, I would have loved a little more exploration of how that design was arrived at , but I think that would be better in a series.

La mejor Decisión

Michael Jordan no fue incorporado de ninguna manera en la película y esto me pareció lo mejor de lo mejor, solo es mencionado y no existe una sola imagen de él, creo que esto fue muy acertado, porque con la figura de Jordan dentro de la historia de la película la historia habría tomado un rumbo diferente. Me gusta que su aparición sera solo de nombre. A muchas personas les hubiera encantado ver a Jordan interpretado por algún actor, pero eso es lo que quería evitarse. La historia solo se centraba en los ejecutivos y su lucha desesperada por no desaparecer del mercado deportivo. Otro punto que muchos mencionan es el diseño de las zapatillas Air Jordan 1, el proceso creativo del diseñador nunca se observa con detenimiento, sino que es algo muy corto, a mi me hubiera encantado un poco más la exploración de como se llegó a ese diseño, pero pienso que eso quedaría mejor en una serie.

As my final appreciation, I think the movie is entertaining, it's very good and it's very well done, I think it's one of those movies where the main story is to achieve success through being a visionary. It reminds me a bit of the movie about Mark Zuckerberg and the founding of Facebook, the entrepreneurial spirit is present and putting ideas to work to achieve success. Today Nike is a consolidated company, so it does not need advertising, in the same way as Mr. Michael Jordan, so I do not think it is propaganda, much less a commercial, it is a story of some executives who were visionaries at a time when they had no chance other than to believe in what they were doing. And the opinion I have of the film is that the formula for success is only achieved when all the variables are related. Jordan divided basketball into a before and after, his sports genius made him become a true icon in a time where only movie and music stars existed, so this is what the movie is about. I highly recommend it to those who like the business world and entrepreneurship stories.

Como mi apreciación final opino que la película es entretenida, es muy buena y está muy bien realizada, creo que es una de esas películas donde el relato principal es alcanzar el exíto a través del poder ser visionario. Me recuerda un poco a la película de Mark Zuckerberg y la fundación de Facebook, está presente el espíritu emprendedor y poner a funcionar las ideas para alcanzar el éxito. Hoy en día Nike es una empresa consolidada, así que no necesita publicidad, de la misma forma el señor Michael Jordan, así que no creo que se trate de propaganda ni de mucho menos un comercial, se trata de una historia de unos ejecutivos que fueron visionarios en una época donde no tenían ningunas posibilidades más que creer en lo que estaban haciendo. Y la opinión que tengo de la película es que la fórmula de exito solo se alcanza cuando todas las variables estan relacionadas. Jordan dividió el basketbol en un antes y un después, su genio deportivo lo hizo convertirse en un verdadero ícono en una época donde solo existían las estrellas de cine y de la música, así que de esto va la película. La recomiendo muchísimo a quienes les gusta el mundo empresarial y las historias de emprendimiento.
