So we went back to Netflix to rewatch this film, which we had already seen about ten years ago but didn't remember very well.

Classified as fantasy, this American-British-Canadian film lasts 1 hour and 42 minutes and is inspired by The Spook's Apprentice series (The Wardstones Chronicles), written by Joseph Delaney.

Nous sommes donc revenu sur Netflix pour revoir ce film que nous avions déjà vu il y a une dizaine d'années, mais dont nous ne nous souvenions pas très bien.

Classé dans la catégorie fantasy, ce film américano-britannico-canadien dure 1h42 et est inspiré du cycle de L'Epouvanteur (The Wardstones Chronicles), écrit par Joseph Delaney.

Synopsis :

For decades, Knight Master Gregory (Jeff Bridges) has kept the evil witch Mother Malkin (Julianne Moore) locked away to prevent the Forces of Evil from unleashing their wrath upon humanity.

Now, Mother Malkin has managed to break free and is seeking revenge. She will reunite her former accomplices to strengthen her ‘army’.

Master Gregory has been training an apprentice for 10 years, but he has just been killed. There is not much time left before the blood moon, which is when Mother Malkin plans to unleash her fury.
The apprentice he seeks must be the seventh son of a seventh son. This is how he finds Tom Ward (Ben Barnes), whom he trains as quickly as possible, given the limited time he has.

Tom proves to be a good apprentice, perhaps thanks in part to the blood that runs through his veins.

Le chevalier Maître Gregory (Jeff Bridges) a enfermé, pendant des décennies, la maléfique sorcière Mère Malkin (Julianne Moore) pour éviter le déclenchement des Forces du Mal sur l'humanité.

Aujourd'hui, Mère Malkin a réussi à se libérer et veut sa vengeance. Elle réunira donc ses anciennes comparses pour renforcer son "armée".

Maître Gregory a formé un apprenti depuis 10 ans, mais il vient de se faire tuer. Il ne reste pas beaucoup de temps avant la lune de sang, qui sera le moment choisi par Mère Malkin pour déchaîner sa rage.
L'apprenti recherché doit être le 7e fils d'un 7e fils. C'est ainsi qu'il trouvera Tom Ward (Ben Barnes) qu'il formera le plus rapidement possible, vu le délai restreint dont il dispose.

Tom se révélera être un bon apprenti, peut-être grâce, en partie, au sang qui coule dans ses veines.

Well, the film isn't bad, but it's not great either.
Perhaps in ten years' time we'll watch it again, having forgotten the story.

Bon, le film n'est pas mauvais, mais il n'est pas super génial non plus.
Peut-être que, dans 10 ans, nous le revisionnerons à nouveau, faute d'en avoir retenu l'histoire.

Admit it, there are some big names here!

Kit Harington was starting to make a name for himself, having already starred in Pompeii and a few seasons of Game of Thrones, and he had a small role here... in any case, he was killed off quickly.
I don't need to introduce Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, Ben Barnes, Olivia Williams, Alicia Vikander, Djimon Hounsou or Jason Scott Lee.

So it wasn't great, but we had a pleasant evening nonetheless.

Kit Harington commençait à se faire connaître, après avoir déjà joué dans Pompéi et quelques saisons de Game of Thrones, il a eu un petit rôle ici .. en tout cas, il s'est fait tué rapidement.
Je n'ai pas besoin de vous présenter Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, Ben Barnes, Olivia Williams, Alicia Vikander, Djimon Hounsou ou encore Jason Scott Lee.

Ce n'était donc pas génial, mais on a passé une agréable soirée quand même.
