Hello everyone, I hope you are very well! Today I come to talk about a movie that I wanted to see for a while and don't ask me why I hadn't seen it, because I can't even find an answer myself, it is without a doubt a movie that you have to watch carefully because they invite you to detail many things and attitudes of the characters; and that's probably why I hadn't enjoyed it before, and that's because that's the right word for this horror plot (although it didn't seem like much to me) and black comedy, as it's cataloged. What makes me really wonder why I hadn't seen it before, is that it stars one of my favorite actors as Raldh Fiennes , who in addition to seeming very attractive to me, has an impeccable job as an actor, I loved him as Hades in Clash of the Titans, as Voldemort in Harry Potter, and this was not going to be the exception.
I will try not to make spoilers, although probably many have already seen it, and I will give you my opinion of this film, which first lets you see the elitist of a very expensive restaurant, which is located on a private island and can only be reached by boat and with a reservation that can take months to get, nothing very distant from the great elite restaurants in the world. Beginning we see a group of 12 people who embark on their journey to the great Hawthorne restaurant, to enjoy what will be the last great experience of their lives.
Upon arrival they are given a tour of the areas adjacent to the restaurant where a great team of chef and sous-chef prepare the dinner in such a timed manner as if it were a military army, there they are greeted by the great Julian Slowik, Head Chef of the restaurant and for which each of these people have attended to taste this great dining experience, At the moment of serving the first dish he gives them a speech and the same happens with the subsequent dishes, and with which they will discover the macabre plans that this chef has for the diners, each one of them summoned this day for a special reason.
People who go through life doing harm without measuring the consequences, an actor (John Leguizamo) who with a lousy performance ruined the only day off in years this chef had, Tyler (Nicholas Hoult) a foodie obsessed with his food and who at all costs wanted being taken into account by the chef, a wealthy couple who did not care more than to appear opulent in this restaurant but did not really enjoy their food, a food critic who has ruined more lives than he has been able to build , a group of scam investors who work with the owner of the restaurant, a perfect stranger who makes the discordant note of the night, and the chef's mother, make up the group of special guests who went to taste their last dinner that night.

A film directed by Mark Mylod, who has an extensive background in television as a director and producer, written by Seth Reiss and Will Tracy, and produced by Adam McKay, Betsy Koch and Will Ferrell, the latter who although he is not one of my favorite actors, with extensive experience as an actor and producer, I think they thought it through and did an excellent job. In the end, such a simple detail as a $9.95 hamburger saves your life is quite disappointing for those who paid $1250.
I must say that I saw this movie without wanting to see the reviews of it before, I heard a couple of people who told me it was very good, and I must say that it managed to catch me, it kept me entertained for almost two hours, it intrigues you from the first minutes when you see Margot's reaction before getting on that boat, it makes you want to know more and more about each character, it is a film that with few scenarios, because basically the plot takes place in that restaurant room with open kitchen, it keeps you in expectation at all times, because we do not know what they can surprise us with. Although it could be said that the protagonists are Chef Julian Slowik and Margot, the 12 diners have the same importance in terms of interpretation and appearance in the film. I would have liked a little more development as to why each one was there, perhaps some flashback to what motivated the chef to invite them.
So, how much do I give it? Well, although it is a good movie, it kept me attentive and entertained at all times, I did not see the terror that I was promised, I would rather say that it has a lot of suspense, or maybe it is that I am not very clear about the concepts, but, in short, I give it an 8/10. Of course I do, it is a movie that you should definitely see, it has a very good plot.

Hoy les vengo a hablar de una película que hace rato quería ver y no me pregunten porque no la había visto, porque ni yo misma encuentro respuesta, es sin duda una película a la que hay que ver con detenimiento pues te invitan a detallar muchas cosas y actitudes de los personajes; y es probablemente por eso que no la había disfrutado antes, y es que esa es la palabra correcta para esta trama de terror (aunque no me pareció mucho) y comedia negra, como está catalogada. Lo que me lleva a preguntarme realmente porque no la había visto antes, es que tiene como protagonista a uno de mis actores favoritos como lo es Raldh Fiennes, que además de parecerme muy atractivo tiene un trabajo impecable como actor, lo amé como Hades en Furia de titanes, como Voldemort en Harry Potter, y aquí no iba a ser la excepción.
Tratare de no hacer spoilers, aunque probablemente ya muchos la hayan visto, y les daré mi opinión de esta película, que de entrada deja ver lo elitista de un restaurant bastante costoso, que se encuentra en una isla privada y al que solo es posible llegar en bote y con una reservación que pueden pasar meses para poder obtener, nada muy distante de los grandes restaurantes de elite mundial. Empezando vemos a un grupo de 12 personas que emprenden su viaje hacia el gran restaurant Hawthorne, a disfrutar de lo que será la última gran experiencia de sus vidas.
Llegando les dan un tour por las áreas contiguas al restaurant donde un gran equipo de chef y sous-chef preparan la cena de manera tan cronometrada como si de un ejército militar se tratara, allí son recibidos por el gran Julian Slowik, Chef principal del restaurant y por el cual cada una de estas personas han asistido para degustar de esta gran experiencia gastronómica, al momento de servir el primer plato les da un discurso y lo mismo ocurre con los platos subsecuentes, y con los cuales se irán descubriendo los macabros planes que tiene este chef para los comensales, cada uno de ellos citados este día por una razón especial.
Personas que van por la vida haciendo daño sin medir consecuencias, un actor (John Leguizamo) que con una pésima actuación arruino el único día libre en años que tenía este chef, Tyler (Nicholas Hoult)un foodie obsesionado con su comida y que a toda costa quería ser tomado en cuenta por el chef, una pareja adinerada que no le importaba más que aparentar la opulencia que representa estar en este restaurant pero que realmente no disfrutaban de su comida, una crítica de comida que ha arruinado más vidas de las que ha podido edificar, un grupo de inversores estafadores que trabajan con el dueño del restaurant, una perfecta desconocida que hace la nota discordante de la noche, y la madre del chef, hacen el grupo de invitados especiales que esa noche fueron a degustar de su última cena.
En esta cinta se ven temas como el estrés que puede generar tener que trabajar para otros y llegar a sentirse un esclavo, cuando nos sentimos esclavos podemos llegar a sentir el deseo de acabar con nuestro esclavista, eso está en la genética del ser humano, y esto se lo toma muy literal nuestro chef estrella. Por su parte la nota discordante de la noche, Margot, interpretada por Anya Taylor Joy, conocida por muchos por su papel en Gambito de Dama, serie que aún no me he dispuesto a ver, hace que el Chef Julian Slowik vea sus planes entorpecidos, y le haga cambiar algunos de ellos, es ella quien con su simpleza reta la petulancia de este chef, e incluso hace sentir incomodo a su acompañante, básicamente y aunque la trama destaca la existencia de cada uno de los personajes, es en Margot, en torno a quien gira más de la mitad de la película, descubriéndose así un lado oscuro de otro de los invitados de la noche, y generando en el chef más ánimo de continuar con sus macabros planes.
Una película dirigida por Mark Mylod, quien tiene una amplia trayectoria en televisión como director y productor, escrita por Seth Reiss y Will Tracy, y producida por Adam McKay, Betsy Koch y Will Ferrell, este último que aunque no es de mis actores predilectos, con una amplia experiencia como actor y productor, creo que se la pensaron muy bien e hicieron un excelente trabajo. Al final un detalle tan simple como que una hamburguesa de $ 9,95, te salve la vida es algo bastante decepcionante para los que pagaron $ 1250.
Debo decir que vi esta película sin querer ver antes las críticas de la misma, escuche un par de personas que me dijeron que era muy buena, y, debo decir, que logro atraparme, me mantuvo entretenida las casi dos horas que dura la cinta, te intriga desde los primeros minutos en cuanto ves la reacción de Margot antes de subir a ese bote, te lleva a querer saber más y más de cada personaje, es una película que con pocos escenarios, pues básicamente la trama transcurre en esa sala de restaurant con cocina abierta, te mantiene a la expectativa en todo momento, pues no sabemos con qué nos pueden sorprender. Aunque podría decirse que los protagonistas son el Chef Julian Slowik y Margot, los 12 comensales tienen la misma importancia en cuanto a interpretación y aparición dentro de la cinta. Me habría gustado algo más de desarrollo en cuanto al porque cada uno estaba allí, tal vez algún flashback de lo que motivo al chef a invitarlos.
Entonces, ¿Cuánto le doy? Pues, aunque es una buena película, me mantuvo atenta y entretenida en todo momento, no vi el terror que me prometieron, más bien diría que tiene mucho suspenso, o tal vez es que no tenga muy claros los conceptos, pero, en fin, yo le doy un 8/10. ¿Qué si la recomiendo? Claro que sí, es una película que sin lugar a dudas deben ver, tiene una muy buena trama.

Hola, la vi hace poco y tenemos opiniones parecidas, a mí también me hubiera gustado saber más detalles de los comensales elegidos. Creo que le falto más argumentación en ciertos aspectos, pero de todos modos fue entretenida de ver y realmente es como una parodia que busca burlarse de todo esta situación.
Exacto le falto algo, sin embargo, estuvo bastante entretenida, me gusto el toque de misterio y suspenso que le colocan a la trama. Y hacen burla de mucho de lo que sucede en el mundo, las personas mas pendientes de tomarle una fotografía al plato que de realmente disfrutarlo, muchos que van a comer y lo menos que hacen es disfrutar de la comida por estar en sus propios problemas, otros que no les importa nada mas que ellos, de estas cosas hay mucho en el mundo, y eso lo reflejaron allí.
Por lo que relatas, se ve bastante interesante la película, me causa mucha curiosidad saber el desenlace de esta obra. Lo que no me motiva tanto es que sea de terror, no soy muy aficionada a ese género de películas, aunque dices que es más de suspenso 🤔
No sabría si le daría la oportunidad.

Yo no soy de ver películas de terror, siempre son más de lo mismo, esta aunque dice que es terror, no la catalogo como tal, es más como digo, suspenso, o al menos eso me parece, puedes darle la oportunidad, es muy posible que te guste. Saludos Margarita!!
Una de las cosas que más me gustó de esta película fue ese cierre, como sostienes es impactante que una hamburguesa de $9.95 marcará la diferencia y salvara la vida de Margot. Me encantó eso fue épico y te deja con un sabor realmente agrio en la garganta. Claro, a modo de ver. 😀
Tal cual, y también creo que eso hace ver que en ocasiones las cosas más simples de la vida, representan lo que más valor puede llegar a tener. Pasamos la vida en busca de lo ostentoso y a veces algo sencillo marca la diferencia.
Esto si que me dio miedo. Me quedé con ganas de saber más y más. Claro, nada de Spoilers para que vayamos a verla. Me hizo recordar una película que vi hace poco, Cadáver, de hecho, pensé que era la misma, pero no.
Vaya a verla para que disfrutes de ella, realmente la recomiendo. Epa tengo que ver esa Cadaver, no se cual es jajaja, saludos.
De entrada me gustó el título porque básicamente de eso se trata. Me gustó también que no hicieras spoilers y en cuanto a lo de los flashbacks, sí, quizás hubiera sido un recurso narrativo más explicativo, pero creo que se usa mucho y en mi opinión acá no hacía falta. Las razones por las cuales cada uno están allí quedan claras en la película, algunas más desarrolladas que otras, y de esa forma uno se concentra más en el ahora, en Margot y lo que va a ocurrir.
