Your Name: Strive for the impossible [ENG/ESP]
Japan has given us so much art, I don't know exactly what surprises me about "Your Name" (or well, I do, but I'll let you figure it out for yourselves) but what I am sure of is that it's a great recommendation to watch this Sunday and every day of the year.
Japón nos ha dado tanto arte, que no sé exactamente que me sorprende de “Your Name” (o bueno, si lo sé, pero dejare que ustedes lo descubran por si solos) de lo que, si estoy seguro, es que es una gran recomendación para ver este domingo y todos los días del año.
Since I was a child I have been an anime fan, although I was not the only one, since a whole generation grew up watching this type of Japanese animation. Dragon Ball, Saylor Moon and a lot of titles, that every time I can watch again I enjoy again. But, as I grew up, I distanced myself from the genre and I confess that I had a long time without looking to watch anime.
Although many in this era have become adepts of Japanese art, in my case, in the absence of recommendations, I put aside the genre and it was not until a few days ago that someone recommended me to watch a movie that he had seen and that he had found quite emotional. So I decided to take the risk and search for the title on HBO Max.
And that's how I came to discover "Kimi no Na wa" (Your name 2016) which was not only the most watched anime movie of 2016, but is so far the third most watched anime movie of all time. So, I began to wonder where I had been the last 6 years of my life in which I had not discovered this movie.
Desde niño he sido fanático del anime, aunque no fui el único, ya que toda una generación creció viendo este tipo de animación japonesa. Dragón Ball, Saylor Moon y un montón de títulos, que cada vez que puedo ver de nuevo vuelvo a disfrutar. Pero, a medida que fui creciendo, me fui distanciando del género y les confieso que tenía mucho tiempo sin buscar ver anime.
A pesar de que muchos en esta época se han convertido en adeptos del arte japonés, en mi caso, ante la ausencia de recomendaciones, deje a un lado el género y no fue hasta hace unos días que alguien me recomendó ver una película que él había visto y que le había parecido bastante emotiva. Entonces decidí tomar el riesgo y buscar el título en HBO Max.
Y fue así como llegué a descubrir “Kimi no Na wa” (Your name 2016) que no solo fue la película anime más vista del 2016, sino que es hasta ahora la tercera película anime más vista de todos los tiempos. Entonces, me comencé a preguntar dónde había estado los últimos 6 años de mi vida en los cuales no había descubierto esta película.
The first thing I have to say is that I was shocked at the level of detail that these animations go to today. I was visually impressed by Your name, at times I even confused the real Tokyo skyscrapers with the fictional ones, and this gives it a plus. On a visual level, this film feels vivid, managing to capture the essence of Japanese landscapes, its mysticism and nostalgic atmosphere.
The plot unfolds in transitions from voracious metropolitan life to simple village life. And he achieves this through the congested train system of Tokyo or the mountains on the horizon of Itomori, as if the writer is taking us through the question of whether we prefer the towns or the cities, managing to perfectly convey the message he wants us to grasp.
The plot is nothing new, in fact, the exchange of bodies is something we have seen in countless films like Freaky Friday, but this time the premise is not the important thing, what will really interest us is why. An unoriginal concept, which, however, moves away from the sense of comedy that we have given it in the West and makes it totally emotional and away from superficiality.
Lo primero que debo decir es que me ha impactado el nivel de detalle que llegan a tener estas animaciones hoy en día. Your name me ha impactado visualmente, incluso, en ocasiones llegué a confundir los rascacielos de Tokio de la realidad con la ficción y esto le da un plus. A nivel visual, esta película se siente vivida, logrando captar la esencia de los paisajes japoneses, su misticismo y su ambiente nostálgico.
El argumento se desarrolla en transiciones que van desde la voraz vida metropolitana hasta la vida sencilla de los pueblos. Y lo logra a través del congestionado sistema de trenes de Tokio o las montañas en el horizonte de Itomori, como si el escritor nos llevara a través de la interrogante de si preferimos los pueblos o las ciudades, logrando transmitir a la perfección el mensaje que quiere que captemos.
El argumento no es nada nuevo, de hecho, el intercambio de cuerpos es algo que hemos visto en infinidad de películas como Freaky Friday, pero esta vez la premisa no es lo importante, lo que verdaderamente nos va a interesar es el por qué. Un concepto poco original, que, sin embargo, se aleja del sentido de comedia que le hemos otorgado en occidente y lo vuelve totalmente emotivo y alejado de la superficialidad.
Your name tells the story of Mitsuha (Mone Kamishiraishi) a girl who lives in the fictional town of Itomori, a beautiful and picturesque place in the southern region of Japan, and Taki (Ryunosuke Kamiki) an older boy who lives in Tokyo (but, be warned). Both are normal kids, you could even say they are typical teenagers with defined social circles and a "normal" family. But, they are people who fail to establish a real connection with the life they have been given to live.
All this will change one day when Taki wakes up and realizes that the body he is in is not his own, but that of a woman. He is in the body of a girl named Mitsuha, who lives in the countryside. He begins to believe that it is a dream and continues to live life as Mitsuha, although he does not quite know how to act. The next day, Mitsuha wakes up in his own body, but has only vague memories of the previous day. Of course, so does Mitsusha who also wakes up in Taki's body at the same time.
When their friends and family begin to notice the strange way they both act, Mitsuha and Taki realize that when they sleep their bodies are switched. And this is where the adventure begins; when they both realize what is happening to them, they begin to make rules to help each other by leaving notes on their phones. But, this ends from one day to the next and Taki begins to look for that person whose name she doesn't even know.
Your name cuenta la historia de Mitsuha (Mone Kamishiraishi) una chica que vive en el ficticio pueblo de Itomori, un hermoso y pintoresco lugar en la región sur de Japón, y de Taki (Ryunosuke Kamiki) un chico mayor que vive en Tokio (pero, debes estar atento). Ambos son chicos normales, hasta se podría decir que son los típicos adolescentes con círculos sociales definidos y una familia “normal”. Pero, son personas que no logran establecer una conexión real con la vida que les ha tocado vivir.

The truth is that it is difficult to talk about the unexpected twist that happens after the connection between the two is lost, but I think the director leads you to understand it through images. The hard part would be to explain to you without spoilers, why you should see this movie. For me the first thing would be how nice it is that two people from different points, different lives and, in fact, different genders, manage to find meeting points when the reality they both live is diametrically opposed.
The chemistry that the characters manage to find, connects with a script that manages to connect with audiences of all ages through a single premise: that feeling of searching for something or someone that we believe leads us to explore beyond apparent normality. Anything I can tell you, I'm sure, would fall short and fail to describe how moving the story is.
The important thing is to be attentive, to know when and where the protagonists are. Flashbacks are a constant, timing is everything in this story, so from the first minute you must not miss a single detail of what is happening in front of your eyes. But, everything leads to a vibrant, emotional and powerful ending.
A wonderful animation, a film like few others, an hour and forty-seven minutes quite rewarding. I haven't enjoyed a movie as much as I enjoyed "Your name " in a long time and that's why I want you to enjoy it. I haven't even told you 20% of it, I promise.
La verdad es que es difícil hablar del giro inesperado que ocurre a partir de que se pierde la conexión entre ambos, pero creo que el director te lleva a entenderlo a través de imágenes. Lo difícil sería explicarles sin spoilers, porque deben ver esta película. Para mí lo primero sería lo bonito que es que dos personas de distintos puntos, vidas diferentes y, de hecho, géneros diferentes, logren encontrar puntos de encuentro cuando la realidad que ambos viven es diametralmente opuesta.
La química que logran encontrar los personajes, se conecta con un guion que logra conectar con audiencias de todas las edades a través de una sola premisa: ese sentimiento de buscar algo o a alguien que creemos nos lleva a explorar más allá de la normalidad aparente. Cualquier cosa que les pueda decir, estoy seguro, que me quedaría corto y fallaría en describir lo emotiva que es la historia.
Lo importante es estar atento, saber cuándo y dónde están los protagonistas. Los flashbacks son una constante, el tiempo lo es todo en esta historia, así que desde el primer minuto no debes perder ni un solo detalle de lo que está ocurriendo frente a tus ojos. Pero, todo conduce hacia un final vibrante, emotivo y poderoso.
Una animación maravillosa, una película como pocas, una hora y cuarenta y siete minutos bastante gratificantes. Tenía tiempo sin disfrutar de una película tanto como he disfrutado de “Your name” y es por eso que quiero que la disfruten. No les he contado ni siquiera un 20%, se los prometo.

Me dió mucho gusto ver qué alguien escribió sobre Your Name, hace mucho tiempo que la Vi pero me encantó, quiero verla nuevamente pero en idioma natural porque doblada hay cosas que no se entienden muy bien. Sinceramente de los cómics que he visto, este es mi favorito.

Esta película es increíble. Ya el director había hecho grandes cosas, como con la predecesora (5 cm por segundo) que aunque es más breve maneja el mismo nivel de detalle que esta. Incluso algunas escenas de Your name recuerdan a la otra. Y si no estás muy en la onda de anime pero quieres ver algún otro interesante te recomiendo La tumba de las luciérnagas, es de Studio Ghibli pero carece de la fantasía de sus películas más recordadas y en compensación entrega una historia humana (triste, sí) y muy reflexiva.

Del mundo del anime diria que es el segundo filme mas popularmente amado sin importar que lugar, nacionalidad o sexualidad seas, este filme me hizo llorar tanto que lo ame eternamente.
Otra de mis favoritas, y de mi hija, es muy graciosa y juega con el metaverso, y una muy tierna historia de amor! Saludos!!!
Tengo bastante tiempo lejos del anime pero este es uno de los proyectos que siempre he querido ver, algo me dice que todos los halagos que recibe son muy merecidos.
