Gladiador, una película que lo tiene todo || Gladiator, a movie that has it all

En estos días he tenido algo de tiempo libre, he estado un poco aburrido, pero no quería ver ninguna película de las actuales, así que me decidí por un clásico, una producción de drama, acción y aventura, basada en una historia de la antigua Roma, la esclavitud y hombres que eran utilizados para dar un espectáculo para las personas, sin importarles poner en riesgo la vida de otras personas, simplemente por entretener a un grupo de personas. La película se llama Gladiador, es un clásico, una historia que no nos podemos perder, ya que nos muestra la cruel que fue la humanidad en el pasado, hábitos que por alguna u otra razón han podido influenciar nuestros tiempos. Sin lugar a dudas esta es una de las mejores películas del género (creo que la mejor) y en la reseña les diré el porqué.

Como les dije anteriormente, Gladiador es una película de acción, drama y aventura del año 2000, que fue dirigida por Ridley Scott y que tiene una duración de dos horas y medio, donde nos cuentan una gran historia. La trama de la película nos cuenta la historia del imperio romano dirigido por Marco Aurelio, quien tiene la firme decisión de pasar el poder a su fiel general Máximo, poniéndolo por encima de su hijo Cómodo, lo que desató o sin fin de hechos como complot, traiciones, asesinatos, aprensiones, esclavitud y otras cosas que eran comunes para la época del Imperio Romano, cuando estos eran los que dominaban prácticamente el mundo, habían invadido y conquistado mucho territorios.

Una de las cosas que más me encanta de la película es la duración, ya que creo que es el suficiente tiempo para contar un magnifica historia, que cada escena vale la pena ver, ya que hay algo detrás, algo que nos quieren contar. La trama pienso que no tiene ningún desperdicio, cada segundo vale la pena ver. Esta producción nos muestra la cruel que era el imperio romano y como las personas podían decidir si una gladiador vivía o no, incluso ganar la batalla no era indicio de que iba a sobrevivir ya que si el emperador o el pueblo romano querían que el pelador muera, pues eso era lo que pasaba.

La trama principal nos habla de Máximo, un general que luego de luchar por el imperio romano por muchos años y tener muchas victorias, fue castigado por tan solo el hecho de haberse ganado la confianza del emperador Marco Aurelio, sabiendo que era un persona justa, quería dejarle el mando, pero al enterarse Cómodo, planeó el traicionar a su padre y armar un complot y una serie de mentiras sobre este gran personaje. La película cuenta con una historia llena de acción, muchas batallas tanto en el campo, como en el Coliseo o sitios destinado para pelear los esclavos (gladiadores), pero al haber acción, el drama nunca puede faltar y ese toque es que creo que hace que me guste la película, ya que es uno de mis género favoritos. También la película cuenta con un poco del romance, amores que no siempre son correspondidos. El romance es algo que no puede faltar en una película, aunque en Gladiador no siento que sea parte de la trama principal, se centra más en otros aspectos de la historia de la antigua Roma.

These days I have had some free time, I have been a little bored, but I didn't want to watch any of the current movies, so I decided for a classic, a production of drama, action and adventure, based on a story of ancient Rome, slavery and men who were used to give a show for people, without caring about putting at risk the lives of others, simply to entertain a group of people. The movie is called Gladiator, it is a classic, a story that we cannot miss, because it shows us how cruel humanity was in the past, habits that for some reason or another have been able to influence our times. Undoubtedly this is one of the best movies of the genre (I think the best) and in the review I will tell you why.


As I told you before, Gladiator is an action, drama and adventure movie from the year 2000, which was directed by Ridley Scott and has a duration of two and a half hours, where we are told a great story. The plot of the film tells the story of the Roman Empire led by Marcus Aurelius, who has the firm decision to pass the power to his faithful general Maximus, putting him over his son Commodus, which unleashed endless events such as plots, betrayals, murders, apprehensions, slavery and other things that were common for the time of the Roman Empire, when they were the ones who dominated virtually the world, had invaded and conquered many territories.


One of the things I love the most about the film is the length, as I think it is enough time to tell a magnificent story, that every scene is worth watching, because there is something behind it, something they want to tell us. The plot I think has no waste, every second is worth watching. This production shows us how cruel the Roman Empire was and how people could decide if a gladiator lived or not, even winning the battle was not an indication that he was going to survive because if the emperor or the Roman people wanted the fighter to die, that was what happened.


The main plot tells us about Maximus, a general who after fighting for the Roman Empire for many years and having many victories, was punished for the mere fact of having earned the trust of the emperor Marcus Aurelius, knowing that he was a fair person, he wanted to leave the command, but when Commodus found out, he planned to betray his father and set up a plot and a series of lies about this great character. The movie has a story full of action, many battles both in the field and in the Coliseum or places destined to fight the slaves (gladiators), but as there is action, the drama can never be missing and that touch is what I think makes me like the movie, as it is one of my favorite genre. Also the movie has a bit of romance, loves that are not always reciprocated. Romance is something that can't be missing in a movie, although in Gladiator I don't feel that it is part of the main plot, it focuses more on other aspects of the history of ancient Rome.

Algo que les debo confesar es que no conozco a mucho de los cineastas de las películas, incluso partes del reparto, razón por la cual mis reseñas son de acuerdo a mi opinión personal y experiencia. Claro siempre investigo para tener ciertas informaciones de los filmes de la cual es estoy comentando. Esto lo traigo a colisión ya que no conozco la carrera del Ridley Scott, el director del Gladiador, antes de esta película, aunque por allí leí que fue quien digirió a Robin Hood, un film bastante parecido al que les estoy hablando hoy, al menos la trama tiene el mismo aire, algo nos cuentan otra cosa muy distinto. Lo cierto es que consideró que Scott junto a los guionistas David Franzoni, John Logan, William Nicholson, hicieron un magnífico trabajo con la historia, y como les dije anteriormente no tiene desperdicio, cada segundo queremos ver más y conocer de la trama.

Ahora bien, si hablamos de la fotografía de Gladiador y de los escenarios es una de las cosas que más destaca de las películas, sobre todo el imponente escenario el Coliseo y la primera vez que los esclavos y gladiadores llegan a Roma, una ciudad que siempre a contando con una imponentes infraestructuras y esto se ve muy bien reflejado en la película. Realmente los escenarios son impactantes y junto a la excelente historia, hace que la producción tenga una excelente crítica. Lo mismo pienso de la banda sonora, que estuvo a cargo de Hans Zimmer y Lisa Gerrard, los temas de fondo de los escenas van acorde a los que estamos viendo, sobre todo en los momentos más épicos de Gladiador. Tanto así que calidad de la banda sonora que fue nominada a los Óscar.

Otro aspecto que no quería dejar pasar por alto son los efectos, donde posproducción The Mill fueron los encargados de este apartado de la película y realizaron un excelente trabajo, bastante impresionante los efectos que le dan a las batallas en el Coliseo, dan muchas ganas de seguir viendo cada vez más peleas. Por último y menos importante les quiero hablar del reparto de Gladiador, donde el protagonista Máximo fue interpretado por Russell Crowe, haciendo un excelente trabajo. Tanto así fue lo bien recibido el personaje de Crowe que también fue elegido para darle vida a la mítica historia de Robin Hood, que como curiosidad también fue dirigida por Ridley Scott, lo cual puede ser que tuvo que ver algo con el trabajo que habían realizado previamente en la película que les hablo en esta oportunidad. Richard Harris, quien también es conocido por darle vida a Albus Dumbledore en las dos primeras películas de Harry Potter posteriormente luego de interpretar a Marco Aurelio en Gladiador. Djimon Hounsou también es otro de mis actores favoritos que participaron en esta película Los demás integrantes del reparto lo hicieron realmente bien, conecté con cada uno de ellos y sus personajes, me creí lo que veía en pantalla y creo que eso es lo más importante.

One thing I must confess is that I don't know many of the filmmakers of the movies, even some of the cast, so my reviews are based on my personal opinion and experience. Of course, I always do research to have certain information about the films I am commenting on. I bring this to collision since I do not know the career of Ridley Scott, the director of Gladiator, before this film, although I read that he was the one who directed Robin Hood, a film quite similar to the one I am talking about today, at least the plot has the same air, something else tells us something very different. What is certain is that Scott, along with screenwriters David Franzoni, John Logan, William Nicholson, did a magnificent job with the story, and as I said before, it is not wasted, every second we want to see more and learn more about the plot.


Now, if we talk about the photography of Gladiator and the scenery is one of the things that stands out most of the films, especially the imposing scenery of the Colosseum and the first time the slaves and gladiators arrive in Rome, a city that has always had an imposing infrastructure and this is very well reflected in the film. The scenery is really impressive and together with the excellent story, makes the production has an excellent review. The same I think of the soundtrack, which was in charge of Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard, the background themes of the scenes go according to what we are seeing, especially in the most epic moments of Gladiator. So much so that the quality of the soundtrack was nominated for an Oscar.


Another aspect that I did not want to overlook are the effects, where post-production The Mill were in charge of this section of the film and did an excellent job, quite impressive effects that give the battles in the Colosseum, make you want to keep watching more and more fights. Last but not least I want to talk about the cast of Gladiator, where the protagonist Maximus was played by Russell Crowe, doing an excellent job. Crowe's character was so well received that he was also chosen to give life to the mythical story of Robin Hood, which as a curiosity was also directed by Ridley Scott, which may have had something to do with the work they had previously done in the film I am talking about in this opportunity. Richard Harris, who is also known for giving life to Albus Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter movies after playing Marcus Aurelius in Gladiator. Djimon Hounsou is also another of my favorite actors who participated in this movie. The rest of the cast did really well, I connected with each one of them and their characters, I believed what I saw on screen and I think that's the most important thing.

Opinión Final

Gladiador (2000) es realmente un clásico, una de las mejores historia que he visto del género y que ha sido adaptada a la gran pantalla, tal vez no sea perfecta, porque creo que ninguna película lo es, tienen sus detalles pero en general a filmes como este, valen la pena ver. No solo posee una gran historia, sino que además tiene una imponente fotografía, escenarios que quedamos alucinando como el Coliseo y otras estructuras del imperio romano. Además que también vemos hermosos escenarios fuera de lo que es la ciudad de Roma. Las actuaciones fueron bestiales, de cada uno de los integrantes del reparto, sin desmeritar a ninguno, claro que tengo mis favoritos y ya se los mencioné. Visualmente la película me parece asombrosa, no solo por la fotografía, sino que también por los efectos que se les agregaron a la película para recrear algunas escenas. La banda sonora de lo mejor de Gladiador. Vuelvo y repito, este film no tiene desperdicio, un 10/10 en mi opinión personal.

Final Opinion
Gladiator (2000) is truly a classic, one of the best stories I've seen of the genre and that has been adapted to the big screen, maybe not perfect, because I think no movie is, they have their details but in general films like this are worth seeing. It not only has a great story, but it also has a stunning photography, scenarios that we were hallucinating as the Colosseum and other structures of the Roman Empire. We also see beautiful scenery outside the city of Rome. The performances were beastly, from each of the cast members, without detracting from any of them, of course I have my favorites and I have already mentioned them. Visually the film seems amazing to me, not only for the photography, but also for the effects that were added to the film to recreate some scenes. The soundtrack is one of the best of Gladiator. Again and again, this film has no waste, a 10/10 in my personal opinion.
