Opinión de la película Tu Casa o la mía || Your House or Mine Movie Review

Algunos días tenemos algo de tiempo libre, sobre todo los fines de semanas, así que mejor de pasar el tiempo que ver una película. Inicialmente no sabía que género ver, tenías ganas de ver algo romántico con un toque de drama que nunca puede faltar en una buena producción, bueno al menos a mí me gustó mucho el toque dramático en los filmes. Vi que en Netflix estaba disponible Tu casa o la mía, una película de este año 2023 y cuando vi la participación de Ashton Kutcher y Reese Witherspoon como los protagonistas, que como dato importante les puedo mencionar que Reese también es la productora de la película.

Tu casa o la mía fue dirigida por Aline Brosh McKenna, siendo la primera vez que estuvo a cargo de la dirección de una película, pero también fue la guionista, teniendo en este aspecto una larga trayectoria, destacando en películas como El diablo viste a la moda, una película que me encantó. En cuanto a dirección y guion creo que la película cumple, tal vez sea una historia que hemos visto en otra oportunidad, pero en general me gustó mucho el trabajo en estos dos apartados. La historia del film nos cuenta como dos amigos llamados Debbie y Peter estuvieron una noche junto, luego de una fiesta con juegos, tragos, pero luego de esto decidieron quedar como amigos y tener una relación amorosa.

La película es del género de romance y comedía, aunque más centrada en el amor más que en otra cosa. Al menos esto fue mi percepción, con algo de drama al final pero esto lo solemos ver en otras películas del género. En lo personal no me disgustó, me gustó pero no quiere decir que en algunas partes de la producción vemos las típicas escenas de dos personas que se la llevan realmente bien como amigos pero se nota que están enamorados. Debbie tiene un hijo a la cual sobreprotege mucho, vive en Los Ángeles, Estados Unidos, siempre realizando la misma rutina todos los días. En cambio Peter es un hombre que trata de disfrutar su vida en Nueva York. Un día ambos deciden intercambiar de casas, cada uno viviendo la vida del otro avivando el romance entre estos dos, al menos se fueron dando cuenta poco a poco, a medida que iba avanzando la historia.

Some days we have some free time, especially on weekends, so what better way to pass the time than watching a movie. Initially I didn't know what genre to watch, you felt like watching something romantic with a touch of drama that can never be missing in a good production, well at least I really liked the dramatic touch in films. I saw that on Netflix was available Tu casa o la mía, a movie of this year 2023 and when I saw the participation of Ashton Kutcher and Reese Witherspoon as the main characters, which as an important fact I can mention that Reese is also the producer of the film.


Your Place or Mine was directed by Aline Brosh McKenna, being the first time she was in charge of directing a film, but she was also the screenwriter, having in this aspect a long trajectory, standing out in films like El diablo viste a la moda, a film that I loved. In terms of direction and screenplay I think the film delivers, maybe it is a story that we have seen in another opportunity, but in general I really liked the work in these two sections. The story of the film tells us how two friends named Debbie and Peter were one night together, after a party with games, drinks, but after this they decided to stay as friends and have a romantic relationship.

The film is of the romance and comedy genre, although more focused on love than anything else. At least this was my perception, with some drama at the end but we usually see this in other films of the genre. Personally I didn't dislike it, I liked it but it doesn't mean that in some parts of the production we see the typical scenes of two people who get along really well as friends but you can tell they are in love. Debbie has a son whom she overprotects a lot, lives in Los Angeles, USA, always doing the same routine every day. Peter, on the other hand, is a man who tries to enjoy his life in New York. One day they both decide to swap houses, each one living the life of the other, which fuels the romance between these two, at least they realized little by little, as the story progressed.

Una de las cosas que más me gusta de la historia es que nos muestra como una amistad puede durar por mucho tiempo sin importar donde se encuentra las personas, incluso hablar constantemente, tal vez no todos los días, pero si al menos mantenerse en contacto, contarse las cosas para demostrar que las personas pueden estar con nosotros en las buenas y malas. Otro punto importante es que esta historia nos muestra como dos personas pueden estar destinadas a estar juntos, pero simplemente por tener el miedo de que al final las cosas no funcionen, y llegar a perder todo (la amistad), muchos nos limitamos y no hablamos sobre nuestros sentimientos, nos conformamos con tan solo estar con esa persona, así sea como amigos. Debbie y Peter son muy buenos amigos, que están el uno para el otro en todo momento, es algo de admirar y que bonito sería que fuese así en la vida real. Tal vez sea vea pero entiendo que nos siempre podemos estar en contacto, hablar todos los días. Es una buena historia, comparada con las historias tóxicas que ha sacado Netflix en los últimos tiempos, pero también ciento que la podían explotar más. Aun así quedé bastante conforme y la pasé bien.

En cuanto a las actuaciones Reese Witherspoon como Debbie y Ashton Kutcher como Peter hicieron un magnífico trabajo, se notaba mucho la conexión entre estos dos, claro más que todo al principio cuando comienzo la película, porque luego todo era por llamadas, me fuese gustado ver más escenas entre estos dos juntos, compartiendo el mismo lugar, pero allí es donde esta historia es diferente, una relación de amistad a la distancia. También es cierto que le debieron sacar más provechó a la participación de los otros integrantes del reparto de esta película, todo estaba más centrado en Debbie, su hijo y Peter, además de otros personajes pero de menos trascendencia en la trama. Tal es el caso de Steve Zahn y su personaje Zen, siento que se tuvo que profundizar más a este personaje en la película, es una actor que realmente destaca en las películas de comedía y se le tuvo que dar más participación en la trama.

En cuanto a los escenarios y la fotografía la película es bastante bueno, aunque me fuese gustado ver otros sitios más, una mayor variedad, pero en general bastante bien. Obviamente la película es de romance y comedía, así que en general carece de efectos especiales. En cuanto a la banda sonora, fue una de las cosas que más me gustó, los temas estaban muy acorde a los que estábamos viendo.

One of the things I like most about the story is that it shows us how a friendship can last for a long time no matter where people are, even talking constantly, maybe not every day, but at least keeping in touch, telling each other things to show that people can be with us in good times and bad. Another important point is that this story shows us how two people can be destined to be together, but simply because we are afraid that in the end things will not work out, and we will lose everything (friendship), many of us limit ourselves and do not talk about our feelings, we are content with just being with that person, even as friends. Debbie and Peter are very good friends, who are there for each other at all times, it's something to admire and how nice it would be if it were like that in real life. Maybe it is to see but I understand that we can't always be in touch, talk every day. It's a good story, compared to the toxic stories Netflix has been putting out lately, but I also think they could have exploited it more. Still, I was quite satisfied and had a good time.


As for the performances Reese Witherspoon as Debbie and Ashton Kutcher as Peter did a great job, the connection between these two was very noticeable, of course mostly at the beginning when the movie starts, because later everything was by phone calls, I would have liked to see more scenes between these two together, sharing the same place, but that's where this story is different, a friendship relationship at a distance. It is also true that they should have taken more advantage of the participation of the other members of the cast of this film, everything was more focused on Debbie, her son and Peter, as well as other characters but of less importance in the plot. Such is the case of Steve Zahn and his character Zen, I feel that this character should have been given more depth in the film, he is an actor who really stands out in comedy films and he should have been given more participation in the plot.


In terms of scenery and photography the movie is pretty good, although I would have liked to see more locations, more variety, but overall pretty good. Obviously the movie is romance and comedy, so overall it lacks special effects. As for the soundtrack, it was one of the things I liked the most, the themes were very much in line with what we were watching.

Opinión Final

Tu casa o la mía es una película de romance y comedía (aunque más de romance) buena y no más que eso, una historia que fue hecha para tan solo satisfacer a los espectadores y no más que eso, pero lo que más me gusta de esta película es que nos deja algunos mensajes como que la amistad si puede funcionar a larga distancia, además que cuando unas personas estan destinada a estar juntos a pesar de estar lejos, siempre se pueden llegar a encontrar y ser realmente felices. La trama es buena como a mí me gustan, pero sí siento que le falta algo más y allí es donde se puedo profundizar más sobre otros personajes y no desde la perspectiva de los protagonistas. La película es entretenida, no cuenta las historias con muchas complicaciones que suelen sacar en los últimos años, es una película de romance y comedia ligera donde no reiremos tanto como en otras, pero al menos cumple y para nada es tediosa. Si te gusta el género creo que la puedes pasar bien. Recordar que esta es tan solo mi opinión personal con mi experiencia al ver la película, puede que este equivocado porque mi reseña es más de usuario y no de profesional. Aun así le daría un 7 de 10.

Final Opinion


Tu casa o la mía is a good romance and comedy movie (although more romance) and not more than that, a story that was made to satisfy the viewers and not more than that, but what I like the most about this movie is that it leaves us some messages like that friendship can work at long distance, and that when people are destined to be together despite being far away, they can always find each other and be really happy. The plot is good as I like, but I do feel that it lacks something more and that is where you can go deeper into other characters and not from the perspective of the protagonists. The movie is entertaining, it doesn't tell the stories with many complications that usually come out in recent years, it's a romance and light comedy movie where we won't laugh as much as in others, but at least it complies and it's not tedious at all. If you like the genre I think you can have a good time. Remember that this is just my personal opinion with my experience watching the movie, maybe I'm wrong because my review is more of a user and not a professional. Even so I would give it a 7 out of 10.
