¡Bienvenidos mis panas cinefilos! espero que se encuentren bien y que hayan digerido ya su correspondiente comida, porque hoy vamos a hablar de una película que es toda una referente de lo desagradable, bizarro y horrendo que puede ser un encuentro con otro ser alienigena, lanzada en 2011 "La cosa de otro mundo" o simplemente "La cosa" es una precuela que pretende explorar y explicar la historia detrás de otra cinta con el mismo titulo del año 1982 y de la mano del legendario Jhon Carpenter, responsable de unos de los más conocidos asesinos del genero Slasher, Michael Myers de la cinta Halloween, pero hoy no hablaremos de este emblemático director ni de su obra original, hoy, voy a resumir la precuela que en cierta forma, dio más explicaciones a lo que acontece en la cinta de 1982, decidí comenzar con esta primero por ser cronológicamente más correcta, y por otro lado, por ser considerada de menor calidad, aunque eso lo juzgaremos más adelante cuando veamos la cinta original, mientras tanto mis panas, mis queridos amantes del cine, veamos que tiene para mostrar la cosa del 2011, no sin antes darles una advertencia, esta cinta pese a que utiliza efectos de computadora algunas escenas son muy grotescas, por lo que recomiendo que saltense este contenido si no es de su grado, dicho esto, comencemos :D

I hope you are well and that you have already digested your meal, because today we are going to talk about a movie that is a reference of how unpleasant, bizarre and horrifying an encounter with another alien being can be, released in 2011 "The Thing From Another World" or simply "The Thing" is a prequel that aims to explore and explain the story behind another film with the same title from 1982 and from the hand of the legendary John Carpenter, responsible for one of the best known killers of the Slasher genre, Michael Myers from the film Halloween, but today we will not talk about this iconic director or his original work, today, I will summarize the prequel that in a way, gave more explanations to what happens in the 1982 film, I decided to start with this first for being chronologically more correct, and on the other hand, for being considered of lower quality, although we will judge that later when we see the original film, meanwhile my friends, my dear movie lovers, let's see what the 2011 film has to show, but not before giving you a warning, this film despite using computer effects some scenes are very grotesque, so I recommend you to skip this content if you don't like it, that said, let's start :D
La película comienza con un pequeño fragmento donde unos científicos caen por un grieta en el hielo, y ahí al parecer, descubren una fosa que oculta algo en la oscuridad, haciendo una transición hacia nuestra protagonista, que esta en una especie de laboratorio inspeccionando los restos de algún animal, en ese momento llegan 2 hombres, identificándose uno de ellos como el Doctor Sander, quien esta necesitado de una paleontóloga que sepa extraer especímenes del hielo con urgencia, sin embargo, a Kate esto le parece muy súbito y pide más detalles del viaje a la Antártida, sin embargo el doctor Sanders solo añade que encontraron un estructura y un espécimen en el lugar, asegurando que no puede dar más detalles y que le urge una respuesta por parte de Kate, esta lo piensa un momento, pero acepta ir, llegando al lugar al día siguiente y conociendo parte de los miembros de la base de investigación.
The film begins with a small fragment where some scientists fall through a crack in the ice, and there apparently discover a pit that hides something in the dark, making a transition to our protagonist, who is in a kind of laboratory inspecting the remains of some animal, at that moment 2 men arrive, identifying one of them as Dr. Sander, who is in need of a paleontologist who knows how to extract specimens from the ice urgently, However, to Kate this seems very sudden and asks for more details of the trip to Antarctica, however, Doctor Sanders only adds that they found a structure and a specimen in the place, assuring that he can not give more details and that he urgently needs an answer from Kate, she thinks about it for a moment, but agrees to go, arriving at the place the next day and meeting some of the members of the research base.

Los demás llegan a la escena atraídos por los gritos desgarradores de la cosa, estos ven como ya casi no queda nada del hombre que capturaron, tan solo viendo sus piernas sobresalir del ente, al ver que las balas no le hacen mucho daño, estos proceden a buscar combustible para quemar a la cosa, la cual termina envuelta en llamas y ardiendo hasta carbonizarse, después del suceso, los miembros de la base tienen un momento de luto por la perdida de su compañero, pero Sanders, comunica que a pesar de la perdida, es necesario analizar los restos que quedaron de la cosa, con el fin de entender que es, algunos se muestran molestos con la petición pero este los convence mencionando que nunca se había conocido a alguna especie alienigena antes y que su deber como investigadores, buscar respuestas de lo sucedido, por lo que proceden a transportar los restos a una sala de autopsia.

A partir de aquí todo se va al literal carajo, pues el miembro que quedo herido tras la explosion al llevan cargado hasta la sala de estar resulta ser la cosa, y este divide sus brazos para atacar los que lo cargaban y su cuerpo se tumba en el suelo para deformarse hasta puntos grotesco, con diferencia, esta es la escena más buena y mas dificil de ver de toda la pelicula,por lo que decidí omitir las imagenes más potente evitando darle spoilers que no deseen ver, el caso es que los pilotos no logran controlar la situación porque el lanzallamas se atasca, resultando en que uno de los brazos a atrapa a uno de los hombres, sufriendo un horrible destino, pero el que peor lo pasa es el hombre que intenta huir, siendo herido y tumbado en el suelo, a lo que la cosa procede a desplazarse a su posición y entre gritos de agonía y desesperación, comienza a fusionarse con su victima, Kate, entre todo este morbido espectáculo, logra reparar el lanzallamas y empieza a darle caza a la bestia.

Nuestra heroica Kate por fin llega a la Nave, solo para encontrarse a un Sanders completamente deforme, únicamente teniendo su rostro como única muestra de que alguna vez fue humano, Kate evade los ataques de la cosa, hasta que consigue hacerla ingerir una granada que portaba cortesia de Lars, que le había mostrado previamente el arsenal que guardaban en la base, el piloto llega para apoyar a Kate para salir de allí al buen estilo de Michael Bay, dejando una explosión tras de si y frustrando los planes de la cosa de escapar del continente antártico.

Kate y el piloto, regresan al vehículo después de derrotar a la cosa, pero Kate, dudando de si su compañero es una persona o una cosa, le hace una afirmación, mencionado que siempre supo que era un humano porque llevaba su arete de metal en la oreja, el piloto permanece confuso e intenta señalar donde es que tenia su arete, pero Kate le dice que era la otra oreja, quemandolo vivo y revelando que efectivamente, era una cosa, Kate se sienta en otro de los vehículos, con la mirada de los mil metros, probablemente traumatizada por todo lo que vivió e incapaz de distinguir humanos de cosas... Bueno estas dos ultimas lineas me las invente pero verdad que si quedan dramaticas hahah.

Por ultimo y ya en los créditos finales, otro piloto llega a la base sin saber nada de lo que estaba pasando, parece ser que este era otro miembro de base de investigación que no se encontraba presente durante todos los eventos, mientras que este observa el desastre Lars, que había sido abducido o secuestrado y del que no se supo más en toda la película hasta ahora aparece vivo y disparando al piloto al que le falla dos veces, este le pide que abra la boca a punta de pistola y Lars comprueba que es humano, en ese momento sale corriendo el perro que había sido la autentica primera victima de la película hacia las yermo antártico, Lars se da cuenta de que el perro es una cosa, y empieza disparar fallándole dos veces otra vez, este mismo presiona al Piloto para que arranque otra vez el helicóptero y se dispone a cazar a la cosa, conectando este final directamente con la pelciula de 1982.

Y Yo pensando que mi reseña de Alien iba a ser la más larga de la historia y en mi próxima reseña vuelvo a excederme hahah, encontrare una forma de hacer estas reseñas más cortas, aunque por lo pronto se me hace difícil sin que afecte a la historia, Pero vayamos con mi opinión sobre esta obra, creo que esta cinta con sus mas y sus menos, es una buena precuela que sienta las bases para contar los orígenes y misterios que se plantearon en 1982, con una buena protagonista y con un desarrollo más o menos creíble, sin embargo, tiene algunas conveniencias que afectan a la historia, como la conveniente desaparecio de Lars, la forma en la que termino dándose cuenta Kate de que el piloto era una cosa, el hecho de que haya granadas y pistolas en una estación de investigación, etc, pese a todo me pareció una peliciula recomendable si te gustan las películas que no le temen a mostrarte una criatura que se va deformar hasta punto en que ella misma va a saber que es, quizás el punto negativo son los efectos que en algunas veces se siente bastante artificial, pero no puedo negar que cumple su cometido cuando quiere, en fin, esto ha sido la cosa, de ¿Espero que lo hayan disfrutado y que consideren verlas mis panas!
And I thought that my review of Alien was going to be the longest in history and in my next review I exceed again hahah, I will find a way to make these reviews shorter, although for now it is difficult for me without affecting the story, But let's go with my opinion about this work, I think this film with its pluses and minuses, is a good prequel that lays the groundwork to tell the origins and mysteries that were raised in 1982, with a good protagonist and a more or less credible development, however, has some conveniences that affect the story, as the convenient missing Lars, the way in which Kate ended up realizing that the pilot was a thing, the fact that there are grenades and guns in a research station, etc., in spite of everything I found a recommendable movie if you like movies that are not afraid to show you a creature that will deform to the point where she herself will know what it is, maybe the negative point are the effects that sometimes feels quite artificial, but I can't deny that it does its job when it wants to, anyway, this has been the thing, I hope you enjoyed it and that you consider to see it my friends!

One of the most interesting and gripping horror movies I've seen, of course the 80's original caused more terror and fear, but this one also achieves its goal.
Totally agree brother, although not as you say does not take away the merit to this work, I would have liked to have better reviews but comforting to know that it was a commercial success, out there they say that there will be a series or another movie on the way about the thing soon, but nothing is confirmed.
Yo amé esta película, fue muy divertida de ver, y no sabía que era una precuela, pensé que era un remake de la primera, hace muchos años que la vi, la había olvidado por completo. De las pocas películas que me mantuvo en tensión por casi toda su duración. Ese final... quería más.
Se puede decir que es una precuela que intenta parecerse mucho a la original hahah pues tiene muchos detalles en las que coinciden, el final, pues a mi también me dejo un poco decepcionado, no me gusto mucho el Alíen hecho en CGI pero en la mayoría de escenas quedo bien, salvo al final. Si te gusto esta definitivamente también tienes que ver la original de 1982 que aunque mas antigua tiene ese aire de suspenso y misterio bastante mas refinado :D
