Nobody 2 (Entertaining but no better than the first one) [ENG-ESP]

I remember a few years ago when it had been announced that Bob Odenkirk was going to be in an action movie and that it would be something "similar" to John Wick in terms of choreography. In my mind I couldn't see that actor in that type of movie genre, as I associate Bob Odenkirk more with the comedy or drama genre and especially for playing the world's greatest lawyer. Nobody was released a few years ago and I had not seen it that long ago and the truth is that I liked it a lot and Bob Odenkirk does a great job in the action scenes, of course, not at the level of John Wick, but it is much more competent compared to many action movies where there are 20 cuts per scene. Nobody 2 was recently released and it went pretty much unnoticed, that being a bad sign, but I was still looking forward to seeing it and while it's not a bad movie, it's not a better product than the first one.

This sequel picks up the events of the first one, again we see Hutch in his day to day life, but this time he is in debt due to the money he burned to the Russians in the first film and therefore, he is working as an assassin, something that is making him move away from his family and little by little everything is deteriorating. Because of this and to strengthen family ties again Hutch decides to go on vacation with his family to a place that along with his brother, was part of his childhood, a theme park. But since this is an action movie, things soon turn violent, which leads to a wave of violence even though our protagonist wants to leave this kind of thing behind, but for some reason he can't do it.

The first big action scene of this sequel takes place in an arcade room, where Hutch loses his temper after a worker of the place hit his daughter, this made our protagonist go into "killer mode"; so to speak, and starts slaughtering (but not killing) anyone who dares to stop him. It's a good scene but personally the best action scene is when Hutch and a small group of guys want to confront him for because of the previous trouble our protagonist caused in the arcade room. This scene is good and entertaining and also, something happens with Hutch's finger that I really didn't expect. This scene could be considered as a counterpart of the bus scene from the first movie, as it has certain similar approaches, however, said bus scene is much better than this particular one.

Hutch is trapped in the world of violence and in the family world and this would be the main conflict of this sequel, he seeks to be more with his family, live with them and protect them, but it is very difficult for him to leave that life of violence that characterized him in his best years. However, although action movies have certain "fantasy" and some unrealistic aspects, Nobody had much more "realistic" elements compared to Nobody 2, as I feel that they tried to make this sequel much more impressive with more explosions, traps and violence, but left a little aside the "realism", although it could be said that this sequel also has fight scenes a little more choreographed than in the first film. The first film, because we are just getting to know the character of Hutch, shows us more of his day to day life, there is more character development and knows how to mix it with the action. But in this sequel because we already know what this character is capable of, they focused much more on the action than the narrative.

I don't think this kind of movies are looking for an extremely deep plot, without entertaining and showing funny action scenes, and in that aspect Nobody 2 fulfills its purpose. I still prefer the first movie, Nobody 2 is not bad, but it lacked something more. I'm sure they will make a third movie or at least I hope so, although I don't know how well this movie did at the box office, but with a third installment I feel they would close well this little saga of action movies.

Recuerdo hace unos años cuando se había anunciado que Bob Odenkirk iba a estar en una película de acción y que sería algo “similar” a John Wick en lo que respecta a coreografía. En mi mente no podía ver a ese actor en ese tipo de género de película, ya que a Bob Odenkirk lo asocio más al género de comedia o drama y especialmente por interpretar al mejor abogado del mundo. Nobody se estrenó hace ya algunos años y no la había visto hace no hace mucho y la verdad es que me gustó bastante y Bob Odenkirk hace un gran trabajo en las escenas de acción, claro, no al nivel de John Wick, pero es mucho más competente a comparación con muchísimas películas de acción donde hay 20 cortes por escena. Hace poco se estrenó Nobody 2 y pasó bastante desapercibido, siendo eso una mala señal, pero aun así yo tenía ganas de verla y aunque no es una mala película, no es un producto mejor que la primera.

Esta secuela retoma los eventos de la primera, nuevamente vemos a Hutch en su día a día, pero esta vez se encuentra endeudado debido al dinero que le quemó a los rusos de la primera película y por ende, se encuentra haciendo trabajados como asesino, algo que está haciendo que se aleje de su familia y poco a poco todo se está deteriorando. Debido a esto y para fortalecer nuevamente los lazos familiares Hutch decide irse de vacaciones junto con su familia hacia un lugar que junto con su hermano, formó parte de su infancia, un parque temático. Pero como esto es una película de acción, al llegar las cosas no tardarían en volverse violentas, lo que desemboca una ola de violencia a pesar de que nuestro protagonista quiere dejar este tipo de cosas atrás, pero por algún no puede lograrlo.

La primera gran escena de acción de esta secuela ocurre en un salón de arcades, donde Hutch pierde los estribos luego de que un trabajador del lugar golpease a su hija, esto hizo que nuestro protagonista entrase en “modo asesino”; por decirlo de algún modo, y empiece a masacrar (pero no a matar) a cualquiera que se atreva a detenerlo. Es una buena escena pero personalmente la mejor escena de acción es cuando Hutch y un pequeño grupo de tipos quieren enfrentarse a él para debido al anterior problema que causo nuestro protagonista en el salón de arcades. Esta escena es buena y entretenida y además, ocurre algo con el dedo de Hutch que realmente no esperaba. Esta escena se podría considerar como una contraparte de la escena del autobús de la primera película, ya que tiene ciertos planteamientos similares, sin embargo, dicha escena del autobús es mucho mejor que está en particular.

Hutch se encuentra atrapado en el mundo de la violencia y en el mundo familiar y esto sería el conflicto principal de esta secuela, el busca estar más con su familia, convivir con ella y protegerla, pero le es muy difícil dejar esa vida de violencia que lo caracterizo en sus mejores años. Sin embargo, aunque las películas de acción cuentan con ciertos aspectos “fantasiosos” y alguno irreales, Nobody contaba con elementos mucho más “realistas” a comparación con Nobody 2, ya que siento que intentaron hacer esta secuela mucho más impresionante con más explosiones, trampas y violencia, pero dejaron un poco al lado el “realismo”, aunque se podría decir que esta secuela también cuenta con escenas de pelea un poco más coreografiadas que en la primera película. La primera película, debido a que apenas estamos conociendo al personaje de Hutch, nos muestran más de su día a día, hay más desarrollo de personaje y sabe mezclarlo con la acción. Pero en esta secuela debido a que ya sabemos lo que es capaz de este personaje, se enfocaron mucho más en la acción que en la narrativa.

Igualmente este tipo de películas no creo que busquen tener un argumento sumamente profundo, sin entretener y mostrar escenas de acción divertidas, y en ese aspecto Nobody 2 cumple con su propósito. Igualmente prefiero la primera película, Nobody 2 no está mal, pero le faltó algo más. Estoy seguro que harán una tercera película o al menos eso espero, aunque no se cuan bien le fue en taquilla a esta película, pero con una tercera entrega siento que cerrarían bien esta pequeña saga de películas de acción.
