NOBODY: Saul Goodman can fight [ENG-ESP]

I remember when this movie was announced in 2021, Better Call Saul was about to end next year and it was consolidating as one of the best series, even being above Breaking Bad itself and personally I consider it so in many things. So seeing Bob Odenkirken in a character role that would be quite influenced by John Wick was quite strange to me, since I have known this actor for comic roles in series and in Better Call Saul in addition to providing many comic elements, he also demonstrated very well done dramatic elements. Seeing him in an action role I thought it would be a bad movie, with bad fight choreography and an attempt to take the enormous popularity that Bob had at that time for the series and use it in a movie, for that reason I didn't want to see it. After the premiere of the movie I was able to read very good reviews of this movie, but even so I didn't want to see it, mostly out of laziness and that's how the years passed.

But after the trailer of the second part of Nobody came out not long ago, I was curious to see it, because if they made a second movie out of it, it means that the first one at least did well. And yes, after seeing Nobody I realized that it's pretty good. The action doesn't take long to get going compared to movies like Atomic Blonde, which is good but there are too many "quiet" moments and they don't do it as dynamically as they did in Nobody. For those moments where we do not see the actor slaughtering and shooting, at least they are moments of tranquility, but of a dynamic and agile tranquility, so it is visually entertaining even those moments. But as John Wick those moments of "tranquility" pass very quickly and we enter every moment in the action, which for a film of this style is what allows the viewer to always be focused on the plot.

Basically the story is about a man who previously works to take care of what a person or a group of people do not want to do, so we are dealing with a character who knows how to kill, simple but effective. He knows how to do it but he is not the typical hero of the old action movies who was invincible. The character knows how to fight, but he also knows how to take a hit and there isn't a moment in any fight that there is during the whole movie where he doesn't take some damage and that's a good thing because, even though you know that the character is probably going to win, he's going to get hurt in some way so for the next fight he's going to have some disadvantage and it's that disadvantage that encourages the character to find the most appropriate way to defeat the next enemy.

And that's something that the John Wick movies know how to do well and so does this movie. The choreographies are very good, fluid and you can tell that Bob did a lot of them, which is a very good visual element due to the fluidity and that there are not so many cuts of scenes, many are continuous, with their respective filmic tricks, but the action is so fluid and "real", which makes it very entertaining to watch. At the beginning, the main character's house is robbed and although he had the opportunity to avoid them and even kill the two people who robbed them, he didn't do it. But he does not take action until he believes that the thieves stole an object belonging to his daughter, he looks for the thieves and when he learns that they are a couple who have a sick baby, he decides not to do anything to them and leaves the place in a rage. Coincidentally, while he is on the bus on his way home, a group of Russians in a van stop the bus, start harassing a girl who was on the bus and that is where he takes action.

The first fight is very good, lots of blows, blood and violence, a very well choreographed and visually well done scene. Then we find out that one of the Russians was the brother of another Russian boss of something there that I don't remember, it's not that relevant. But that's when things escalate to a bigger level and they send a group of Russians to attack Bob and his family. Now for revenge he must go and eliminate everyone. It's a simple story, basic but entertaining, it's not the typical action movie in terms of fights, these are very well done and it's really an entertaining movie that exceeded my expectations, so I'm looking forward to see the second part.

Recuerdo cuando se había anunciado esta película en el 2021, Better Call Saul estaba por terminar el próximo año y se estaba consolidando como una de las mejores series, incluso llegando a estar por encima de la mismísima Breaking Bad y personalmente lo considero así en muchísimas cosas. Por lo que ver Bob Odenkirken un rol de personaje que estaría bastante influenciado en John Wick se me hacía bastante raro, ya que este actor lo he conocido por papeles cómicos en series y en Better Call Saul además de aportar bastantes elementos cómicos, también demostraba elementos dramáticos muy bien hechos. Verlo en un papel de acción pensé que sería una película mala y ya, con mala coreografía de peleas y un intento de tomar la enorme popularidad que tenía Bob en esos momentos por la serie y usarlo en una película, por ese motivo lo la quise ver. Posteriormente al estreno de la película pude leer críticas muy buenas de esta película, pero aun así no la quise ver, ya más que todo por flojera y así pasaron los años.

Pero luego de que no hace mucho saliera del tráiler de la segunda parte de Nobody es que pico mi curiosidad por verla, ya que si hicieron una segunda película de esto es que la primera al menos le fue bien. Y si, luego de ver Nobody me di cuenta que es bastante buena. La acción no tarda en iniciar a comparación de películas como Atomic Blonde, la cual es buena pero hay demasiados momentos de “tranquilidad” y no lo hacen de forma tan dinámica con lo hicieron en Nobody. Ya que esos momentos en donde no vemos al actor masacrar y disparar, al menos son momentos de tranquilidad, pero de una tranquilidad dinámica y ágil, por lo que es visualmente entretenido incluso esos momentos. Pero como John Wick esos momentos de “tranquilidad” pasan muy rápido y entramos a cada momento en la acción, lo cual para una película de este estilo es lo que le permite que el espectador siempre este concentrado en la trama.

Básicamente la historia es sobre un hombre que anteriormente trabaja para encargase de lo que una persona o un grupo de personas no quiere hacer, por lo que estamos ante un personaje que sabe cómo matar, simple pero efectivo. Sabe hacerlo pero no es el típico héroe de las películas de acción antiguas que eran invencibles. El personaje sabe pelear, pero también sabe cómo recibir golpe y no hay momento en ninguna pelea que hay durante toda la película en la que no reciba algún daño y eso es algo bueno ya que, aunque sabes que probablemente el personaje vaya a ganar, va a salir herido de alguna forma por lo que para la próxima pelea va a tener cierta desventaja y es esa desventaja lo que anima al personaje a encontrar la forma más adecuada de vencer al próximo enemigo.

Y eso es algo que las películas de John Wick saben hacer bien y esta película también. Las coreografías son muy buenas, fluidas y se nota que Bob realizo muchas de ellas, lo cual es un elemento visual muy bueno debido a la fluidez y que no hay tantos cortes de escenas, muchas son continuas, con sus respectivos trucos fílmicos, pero la acción es tan fluida y “real”, que la hace muy entretenida de ver. Al inicio entran a robar a la casa del protagonista y aunque tenía la oportunidad de evitarlos e incluso matar a las dos personas que les robaron, no lo hizo. Pero no entra en acción hasta que cree que los ladrones se robaron un objeto de su hija, busca a los ladrones y al enterarse que eran una pareja la cual tienen un bebe enfermo, decide no hacerles nada y se va furioso del lugar. Casualmente, mientras se encuentra en el autobús rumbo a su hogar, un grupo de rusos en una camioneta hace detener el autobús, empiezan a acosar a una muchacha que se encontraba en el lugar y ahí es donde entra en acción.

La primera pelea es muy buena, muchos golpes, sangre y violencia, una escena muy bien coreografiada y visualmente bien hecha. Luego nos enteramos que uno de los rusos era hermano de otro ruso jefe de algo ahí que no recuerdo, no es tan relevante. Pero ahí es cuando las cosas escalan a un nivel más grande y mandan a un grupo de rusos a atacar a Bob y a su familia. Ahora por venganza deberá ir y eliminar a todos. Es una historia simple, básica pero entretenida, no es la típica películas de acción en términos de peleas, estas están muy bien hechas y realmente es una película bastante entretenida que supero mis expectativas, por lo que tengo muchas ganas de ver la segunda parte.
