One Piece Live Action: I expected very little from this adaptation and in the end it is quite good / Esperaba muy poco de esta adaptacion y al final está bastante bien [ENG-ESP]

It is well known that Live Action based on anime/manga, in 99% of the cases turn out to be a total failure, especially when they are adaptations made by "United States", since Japan has also made this kind of adaptations and although some few are good or even excellent products, in general terms it is always a total disaster since the most recent adaptation of Saint Seiya, the "mythical" Dragon Ball Evolution or even one which I had some hope, was the adaptation of Cowboy Bebop, which would be my favorite anime par excellence and which I thought would be my favorite anime par excellence and which all the adaptations I had some hope for, was the adaptation of Cowboy Bebop, the "mythical" Dragon Ball Evolution or even one which I had some hope, was the adaptation of Cowboy Bebop, which would be my favorite anime par excellence and which of all the anime adaptations I thought it would be the easiest to make, however, in the end it was another failure whose only value was its soundtrack, which was the original anime. And is that Netflix has always tried to adapt Japanese anime/manga, being another failure Death Note, which is arguably on par with Dragon Ball Evolution in terms of worst adaptations in history. That's why when a One Piece Live Action was announced my alarms against this future product were activated and I had my hopes and expectations about this series were at rock bottom, since adapting One Piece to Live Action was unthinkable due to how that universe is structured.

While not everything in the field of Live Action based on manga/anime is not all bad, as there are movies like Rurouni Kenshin, which are spectacular, with a level of fight choreography and a level of fidelity to the original product outstanding, as well as adaptations such as Alita Battle Angel, which is not for nothing else despite being a "North American" product; the truth is that you can also find good adaptations, although they are very scarce. However, after it was known that the creator of One Piece himself, Eiichirō Oda, was very involved in this new One Piece project, to the point of having selected the actors who would play the main characters, my hopes about this series increased a little more, however I still had my expectations even lower, which were gradually rising because of the previews that were shown every week, the details, sets, clothes and even the music (although this is an aspect of which I will talk a little later); the truth is that in the end, before its premiere, I had at least 50% of hope in this Live Action and although there were many aspects that I did not like, especially in the plot aspect, I must say that in the end One Piece Live Action is a product that did not disappoint me and that I liked to the point that I hope there will be a second season, but my reason why there is a second season is the following.

It is known that One Piece is the best-selling manga in history, besides being the face and representation of the most popular magazine in Japan, the Shonen Jump, however, despite being a super popular manga, in various parts of the world, in America in general (North America and South America) it could be said that it is not so much, although it is gradually becoming more popular. And this lack of popularity is due to the fact that when the One Piece anime was brought to this part of the world, it had a horrible adaptation, both in terms of censorship, which is terrible, completely ruining the essence of this anime, as well as the lack of professionalism in the interpretation of the voice actors, for that reason, the One Piece anime was not popular in this part of the world, being overshadowed by Naruto and Drago Ball. However, thanks to this Live Action adaptation, which is being a resounding success in several countries, this emphasizes that the anime and manga are more popular, as I am quite sure that those people who had never seen the anime of One Piece, but if they saw the Live Action, will feel interested in watching the anime or read the manga even though each of them have more than 1000 issues published.

While it could be said that this Live Action is a resounding success, personally there are certain aspects that I did not like, one of them is the music, although the music of this Live Action is quite good, too many iconic themes in the anime were missing and I find it hard to see certain scenes of the Live Action where those iconic themes are not, there are only two main themes that are in the anime that were in the Live Action, which is not at all bad that this adaptation has original music, but certainly those iconic and memorable themes of the anime were missing. Other aspects that I didn't like were the omission of very important parts for the development of certain characters, although it was impossible to put everything seen in the anime, since they tried to compress the story as much as possible in 8 episodes and that somehow made sense, I feel that many aspects were omitted that would have been much better, as I said before, many of these moments are too iconic of the anime/manga and omitting those moments or not giving them the right emphasis was a big mistake. But finally, this Live Action exceeded my expectations, which although they were low, I had a little hope that at least it would be a decent product and personally, I consider that One Piece Live Action is much more than decent.

Es bien sabido que los Live Action basados en animes/manga, en el 99% de los casos resultan ser un total fracaso, especialmente cuando son adaptaciones hechas por “Estados Unidos”, ya que por parte de Japón también se han hecho este tipo de adaptaciones y aunque algunas pocas son productos buenos o inclusos excelente, en términos generales siempre es un total desastre desde la más reciente adaptación de Saint Seiya, la “mítica” Dragon Ball Evolution o incluso una la cual tenía algo de esperanza, era la adaptación de Cowboy Bebop, el cual sería mi anime favorito por excelencia y el cual de todas la adaptaciones de anime pensé que sería la más fácil de realizar, sin embargo, al final fue otro fracaso que cuyo único valor fue su banda sonora, la cual era la original del anime. Y es que Netflix siempre ha tratado de adaptar animes/mangas japoneses, siendo otro fracaso Death Note, la cual se podría decir que está a la par de Dragon Ball Evolution en cuanto a peores adaptaciones de la historia. Es por eso que cuando se anunció un Live Action de One Piece mis alarmas en contra a este futuro producto se activaron y tenía las esperanzas y expectativas sobre esta serie estaban por los suelos, ya que adaptar One Piece a Live Action era algo impensable debido a como está estructurado ese universo.

Si bien no todo en el ámbito del Live Action basados en manga/anime no es del todo malo, ya que hay películas como las de Rurouni Kenshin, las cuales son espectaculares, con un nivel de coreografías de peleas y un nivel de fidelidad al producto original sobresalientes, así como también adaptaciones como las de Alita Battle Angel, la cual no está para nada mas a pesar de ser un producto “Norte Americano”; la verdad es que tambien se pueden encontrar buenas adaptaciones, aunque son muy escasas. Sin embargo, luego de que se supo que el propio creador de One Piece, Eiichirō Oda, estaba muy involucrado en este nuevo proyecto de One Piece, a tal punto de él mismo haber seleccionado a los actores que interpretarían a los personajes principales, mis esperanzas sobre esta serie aumentaron un poquito más, sin embargo aún tenía mis expectativas aún más bajas, las cuales poco a poco iban subiendo ya que por los adelantos que nos mostraban cada semana, los detalles, sets, ropa e incluso la música (aunque este es un aspecto del cual hablaré un poco más adelante); la verdad que al final, antes su estreno, tenía al menos el 50% de esperanza en este Live Action y aunque hubieron muchos aspectos que no me gustaron, especialmente en el aspecto argumental, debo de decir que al final One Piece Live Action es un producto que no me defraudo y que me gustó a tal punto de que espero que haya una segunda temporada, pero mi motivo por el que haya una segunda temporada es el siguiente.

Se sabe que One Piece es el manga más vendido de la historia, además de ser la cara y representación de la revista más popular de Japón, la Shonen Jump, sin embargo, a pesar de ser un manga súper popular, en varias partes del mundo, en América en general (Norte América y Suramérica) se podría decir que no lo es tanto, aunque poco a poco está siendo más popular. Y esta falta de popularidad se debe a que cuando se trajo el anime de One Piece a esta parte del mundo, tuvo una adaptación horrible, tanto a nivel de censura, la cual es nefasta, arruinando por completo la esencia de este anime, así como también la falta de profesionalismo en la interpretación de los actores de voz, por ese motivo, el anime de One Piece no fue popular en esta parte del mundo, siendo opacado por Naruto y Drago Ball. Sin embargo, gracias a esta adaptación Live Action, la cual está siendo un rotundo éxito en varios países, esto da hincapié par que el anime y manga sean más populares, ya que estoy bastante seguro que a aquellas personas que nunca habían visto el anime de One Piece, pero si vieron el Live Action, se van a sentir interesadas por ver el anime o leer el manga a pesar de que cada uno de ellos tengan más de 1000 números publicados.

Si bien se podría decir que este Live Action es un rotundo éxito, en lo personal hay ciertos aspectos que no me gustaron, uno de ellos es la música, si bien la música de este Live Action está bastante bien, hicieron falta demasiados temas que son icónicos en el anime y me cuesta ver ciertas escenas del Live Action donde esos temas icónicos no lo están, tan solo hay dos temas principales que están en el anime que estuvieron en el Live Action, lo cual no está para nada mal que esta adaptación tenga música original, pero sin duda esos temas tan icónicos y memorables del anime hicieron mucha falta. Otros de los aspectos que no me gustaron en la omisión de partes muy importantes para el desarrollo de ciertos personajes, si bien era imposible colocar todo lo visto en el anime, ya que trataron de comprimir lo más posible la historia en 8 episodios y que de alguna forma tuviera sentido, siento que se omitieron muchos aspectos que hubiesen quedado mucho mejor, como ya dije anteriormente, muchos de estos momentos son demasiados icónicos del anime/manga y haber omitido esos momentos o no darles el énfasis correcto fue un gran error. Pero ya para terminar, este Live Action supero mis expectativas, las cuales a pesar de que eran bajas, tenía un poco de esperanzas de que al menos fuese un producto decente y en lo personal, considero que One Piece Live Action es mucho más que decente.
