Succession: Game Of Thrones but in the present day / Game Of Thrones pero en la actualidad

I started watching this series because besides the fact that I had seen several people on twitter being very excited about it and the premiere of each episode on Sundays, I was also very curious since Succession has been a series that has "snatched" several awards from what I consider one of the best series of recent years, which is Better Call Saul and especially when the last season was one of the best and shocking ones. A series that has been above Better Call Saul was worth watching. Therefore I started watching this HBO series and quickly I could notice the rivalry in terms of popularity between these two series, since from the beginning it is presented as a series where there will be many betrayals and a lot of drama, not for nothing one of the first comments I saw on the internet a few years ago, when I was watching videos where they were recommending series, Succession was described as "Game Of Thrones but in the modern era" and all this is due to the aspect and themes of manipulation, deals, business, politics, betrayal, family and conflicts of interest, so I think this is a pretty accurate description of what this HBO series is.

In very simple terms this series is based on the life of four brothers (where only 3 of them occupy the real protagonist of the series) and their father, who is a businessman, owner and president of one of the most powerful companies in the universe created by this series, an old man who has so much power that he is able to choose or at least tip the balance on the next president of the United States. His role in this story is of great importance and occupies the highest degree of importance in most of the events among the four seasons. The role played by his children is to obtain the presidency and therefore the total power, but Logan Roy, his father, is reluctant to leave his mandate is why during all seasons will be a psychological and power war between all those involved in order to obtain a good percentage of power and credibility to all.

Succession is a series that, at least for me, many times can become difficult to understand, due to the terms and words that are used, since they are very technical with respect to the labor field of finance and business and that is why many times I had to repeat certain dialogue or watch a video on YouTube so that in this way I could get a better perspective of what I just saw, since it is quite easy to get lost in their dialogues, but even so, it did not affect me at all the entertainment capacity that gives this series. I started watching this series and when I got to season 4 I just found out that this would be the last one and I think that having kept this series with so "few" seasons was a great success, since it is not necessary to extend seasons unnecessarily and the end was a worthy ending that depending on the side of which character you have put yourself for this power war, it may or may not be a sad, happy or bittersweet ending, but it was undoubtedly a great ending. While I think this series is spectacular, both in terms of narrative, acting, location and music, on a personal level Better Call Saul seems to me a better series in general terms, as it managed to impact me much more and I got much more attached to the characters, although I can understand very well why Succession won more awards over BCS, because it really is a great series.

Empecé a ver esta serie porque además de que había visto a varias personas por twitter estar muy emocionada por ella y por el estreno de cada capítulo los domingos, también tenía mucha curiosidad ya que Succession ha sido una serie que le ha “arrebatado” varios premios a la que yo considero una de las mejores series de años recientes, la cual es Better Caul Saul y especialmente cuando la última temporada fue de las mejores y de las impactantes. Una serie que haya estado por encima de Better Call Saul merecía la pena ver. Por lo tanto empecé a ver esta serie de HBO y rápidamente pude notar la rivalidad en lo que respecta en popularidad entre estas dos series, ya que desde un inicio se presenta como una serie donde habrán muchas traiciones y mucho drama, no por nada uno de los primeros comentarios que vi en internet ya hace unos años atrás, cuando estaba mirando videos donde recomendaban series, Succession la describían como “Game Of Thrones pero de la época moderna” y todo esto es debido al aspecto y temas de manipulación, tratos, negocios, política, traición, familia y conflictos de interés, por lo que creo que esta es una descripción bastante acertada sobre lo que es esta serie HBO.

En términos muy simples esta serie se basa en la vida de cuatro hermanos (donde tan solo 3 de ellos ocupan el protagonismo real de la serie) y la de su padre, el cual es un empresario dueño y presidente de una de las empresas más poderosas de ese universo creado por esta serie, un viejo que tiene tanto poder que es capaz de elegir o al menos inclinar la balanza sobre el próximo presidente de estados unidos. Su papel en esta historia es de gran importante y ocupa el mayor grado de importancia en la mayoría de los sucesos entre las cuatro temporadas. El papel que juegan sus hijos es obtener la presidencia y por ende el poder total, pero Logan Roy, su padre, está reacio a dejar su mandato es por eso que durante todas las temporadas serán una guerra psicológica y de poder entre todos los involucrados para así obtener un buen porcentaje de poder y credibilidad ante todos.

Succession es una serie que, al menos para mí, muchas veces se puede tornar difícil de entender, debido a los términos y palabras que se utilizan, ya que son muy técnicas con respecto al ámbito laboral de las finanzas y negocios y es por eso que muchas veces tuve que volver a repetir cierto dialogo o ver algún video en YouTube para que de esta manera poder obtener una mejor perspectiva de lo que acabo de ver, ya que, es bastante fácil perderse entre sus diálogos, pero aun así, no me afectó para nada la capacidad de entretenimiento que da esta serie. Empecé a ver esta serie y al llegar a la temporada 4 apenas me enteré que esta sería la última y creo que haber mantenido esta serie con tan “pocas” temporadas fue un gran acierto, ya que no es necesario ampliar temporadas innecesariamente y el final fue un final digno que según el lado de que personaje te hayas puesto para esta guerra de poder, puede ser o no un final triste, feliz o agridulce, pero sin dudas fue un gran final. Si bien me parece que esta serie es espectacular, tanto a nivel narrativo, nivel de actuación, localización y musicalmente, a nivel personal Better Call Saul me parece una mejor serie en términos generales, ya que me logro impactar mucho más y me encariñé mucho más con los personajes, aunque puedo entender muy bien porque Succession ganó más premios por encima de BCS, porque realmente es una gran serie.
