Finally one of the series that I was waiting for the most was released and it is the adaptation of one of my favorite games: The Last of Us and many know that adapting both video games or manga to the field of cinema or television series in 99% of cases has been a resounding failure, not only because they totally lose the line, personality and charisma of the original product, but also add or omit things that are very important. That is why, before the announcement of the One Piece Live Action that Netflix is producing I do not expect anything good and I think One Piece is something that should only stay in manga, anime and video games because of how the work itself is, but The Last of Us is the opposite of One Piece, because despite being fiction, the story of this video game can be adapted to a series and while following the appropriate parameters and maintaining the fidelity of the video game, the end result can be something that is at the height of its original work.

Although I personally had some complaints regarding the casting of some characters for this adaptation, after watching the first episode, I could really see that at least for now, this Live Action of The Last Of Us is a product made with love and is respecting the original work, despite its changes in the story, although I will talk about that a little later. I already put the topic of Live Action based on video games, anime or manga, one of the biggest disappointments I had last year was the adaptation of Cowboy Bebop and this anime could have had an excellent adaptation, but unfortunately it was one of the worst series released in 2022, to the point that almost immediately was canceled, the only good thing that had that Live Action is that it had the original music of the anime, but for everything else it was a piece of crap.

Returning to the theme of The Last Of Us, this first episode maintains in general lines what happened in almost the first hour of the video game and although it has certain variations, in the end the end was the same. The Last Of Us is about the survival of Joel and Ellie, who play a very important role in the events of the game, Joel playing the role of a father who has lost his daughter in the past and after twenty years have passed since that event, it is a fact that still haunts him, to such an extent that due to the chaos, anarchy and so much death in the world due to an outbreak of a fungus that turns people into a kind of "zombies", Joel is a totally different person. While Ellie will play the role of being the possible savior of humanity as she is the only human whose disease outbreak does not affect her, in addition to playing the role of "father and daughter" with Joel.

Having seen this first chapter almost all my doubts and complaints I had about this adaptation have disappeared for now, although the actress who plays Ellie still does not convince me completely, especially because she does not look anything like her video game version, I have to admit that her performance was pretty good and practically the same as the Ellie of the video game. I think HBO can bring one of the best series of this year and possibly one of the best series adaptations of a video game (although this would not be something extremely difficult). This first chapter filled my expectations and now I am more eager to see what this adaptation will bring and especially because they used and will use the original music from the video game, being this one of the best bands of a video game in history, so this series, for now, is respecting the original product very well. I know that there will be certain changes in the story and in certain events compared to the video game, but this is something logical, since there are aspects that only look good in a video game, but for the rest, I hope that this series keeps the essence and charisma of the video game in its next episodes. I don't plan to make a review of each episode, I just wanted to give my first impressions, when I finish the whole season, then I will make a post with everything I think about this adaptation.

Por fin se estrenó una de las series que más estaba esperando y es la adaptación de uno de mis juegos favoritos: The Last of Us y muchos saben que adaptar tanto videojuegos o manga al ámbito del cine o series de televisión en el 99% de los casos ha sido un rotundo fracaso, no solo porque pierden totalmente la línea, la personalidad y el carisma del producto original, sino que también agregan u omiten cosas que son muy importantes. Es por eso que, ante el anuncio del Live Action de One Piece que está produciendo Netflix no espero nada bueno eso y creo que One Piece es algo que solo debe quedarse en manga, anime y videojuegos debido a como es la obra en sí, pero The Last of Us es todo lo contrario a One Piece, ya que a pesar de ser ficción, la historia de este videojuego puede ser adaptada a una serie y mientras sigan los parámetros adecuados y se mantenga la fidelidad del videojuego, el resultado final puede ser algo que este a la altura de su obra original.

Aunque yo en lo personal tenia ciertas quejas con respecto al casting de algunos personajes para esta adaptación, al ver el primer episodio, pude ver realmente que al menos por ahora, este Live Action de The Last Of Us es un producto hecho con cariño y que está respetando a la obra original, a pesar de sus cambios en la historia, aunque de eso hablare un poco más adelante. Ya puse el tema de los Live Action basados en videojuegos, anime o manga, una de las mayores decepciones que tuve el año pasado fue la adaptación de Cowboy Bebop y es que este anime podría haber tenido una adaptación excelentes, pero lastimosamente fue una de las peores series estrenadas en el 2022, a tal punto que casi inmediatamente fue cancelada, lo único bueno que tuvo ese Live Action es que tenía la música original del anime, pero por todo lo demás era una porquería.

Retomando el tema de The Last Of Us, este primer episodio mantiene en líneas generales lo ocurrido en casi la primera hora del videojuego y aunque tiene ciertas variantes, al final el fin fue el mismo. The Last Of Us trata sobre la supervivencia de Joel y Ellie, los cuales juegan un papel muy importante en los acontecimientos del videojuego, Joel ocupando el rol de padre que ha perdido a su hija en el pasado y que luego de haber pasado veinte años desde ese acontecimiento, es un hecho que aún lo atormenta, a tal punto que debido al caos, la anarquía y tanta muerte que hay en ese mundo debido a un brote de un hongo que convierte a las personas en una especie de “zombis”, Joel es una persona totalmente diferente. Mientras que Ellie jugara el papel de ser la posible salvadora de la humanidad al ser la única humana cuyo brote de la enfermedad no le afecta, además de jugar el rol con Joel de “padre e hija”.

Al haber visto este primer capítulo casi todas mis dudas y quejas que tenía sobre esta adaptación por ahora han desaparecido, aunque la actriz que interpreta a Ellie aún no me convence del todo, especialmente porque no se parece en nada a su version del videojuego, tengo que admitir que su actuación estuvo bastante buena y prácticamente igual a la Ellie del videojuego. Creo que HBO puede traer consigo una de las mejores series de este año y posiblemente una de las mejores adaptaciones a series de un videojuego (aunque esto no sería algo extremadamente difícil). Este primer capítulo llenó mis expectativas y ahora tengo más ganas de ver lo que deparará esta adaptación y especialmente porque usaron y usaran la música original del videojuego, siendo esta una de las mejores bandas de un videojuego de la historia, por lo esta serie, por ahora, está respetando muy bien el producto original. Sé que habrán ciertos cambios en la historia y en ciertos acontecimientos a comparación con el videojuego, pero esto es algo lógico, ya que hay aspectos que solo quedan bien en un videojuego, pero por todo lo demás, espero que esta serie mantenga la esencia y carisma del videojuego en sus próximos episodios. No tengo pensando hacer una review de cada episodio, tan solo quería dar mis primeras impresiones, cuando termine toda la temporada, ahí haré un post con todo lo que pienso sobre esta adaptación.
