I never thought I would go far with this series, not to mention writing a review about it. I had just finished watching outlander, I felt like I had a hangover, Outlander left an empty space in my heart, which I wanted to find something to occupy. Reluctantly, I found this series, started with episode one and I haven't been able to stop watching each episode that came out. Packed with enough family dramas, scandals, and secrets that break relationships. Very entertaining, with a perk of music from one of the main characters. Not very surprised, this series is doing well among the series of the same categories.

Beyond the gate is a 2025 soap opera series about a prestigious, black, and powerful family in a gated community of a Maryland suburb just outside Washington, DC. Beyond the fancy and respected name of the family, "The Duprees," this series explores the life of each family member and their various life struggles. In contrast, others in the community are ever ready to feed on the latest gist unfolding in the family, as there are too many secrets waiting to be exposed. One thing is for sure, no matter what happened, this family will always protect each other and stand as one.

Some of the main characters

Dani Dupree, acted by Karla Cheatham Mosley. She has just discovered that the love of her life, a man she has built her adult life around, has abandoned her and chosen to marry a younger lady. Now she has to come to terms with the fact that he is gone and not coming back to her. Karla brings life to this character, a former supermodel, beautiful but sometimes can lose her cool really fast because no matter how she tries to distract herself, she is not getting over the love she lost.

I think a lot of women can relate with this character, you get swept off your feet, the next thing you are changing your entire life to build a family with the man you love, at the end of the day this type of woman maybe left in the cold if such men turned out not to be worth all the sacrifices. Sadly, I have seen this played out many times that I can count. My two cents, choose someone you can both grow together.

Anita Dupree, portrayed by Tamara Tunie

The wife of Vernon Dupree, Dani's parents. Now a grand mother, She is a former Singer, beautiful, strong, elegant—a woman who not only married the love of her life but also the right man made just for her. I love this character, as Mr. and Mrs. Dupree portrayed what a true love and supportive partners should look like.

Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson and Ted Richardson; portrayed by Daphnée Duplaix and Maurice Johnson.

A powerful couple that is always set as an example for others to follow, until the story of a hidden secret of Ted comes to life. Will these two survive the great scandal that follows? Their story is still unfolding. These are just a few out of the many characters in this series.

So far there is season one episode 108. I love that each character is given enough screentime to explore their story and develop well without leaving the viewers hanging.

My favorite Scene

There are many scenes that are worth mentioning, but this particular one where Anita Dupree makes a comeback concert with her musical group is my all-time favorite. I just love the energy this scene radiates; it's moving and very inspiring to see the three women take over the stage to the delight of their audience and perform so beautifully. Let me stop here; I don't want to spill all the tea before you get to watch this, if you haven't.

108 episodes?? Omo! That's a lot, I was enjoying the review and thinking of putting it in my watchlist, but .....

avatar

Hahah, I used to watch long seasons o, but bit by bit. Like two to three episodes per week.

avatar

Okay, then that's fair. I have not finished watching wives I also watch bit by bit 😁

avatar

I enjoyed the review but it's quite long. Most times women fall in love with the wrong partner after sacrificing alot

avatar

It's long, yeah, they used to release two to three episodes part week, I get to watch it bit by bit.

God help our gender when it comes to love thing hehe.

This story really pulls you into its world, making you curious about what lies beyond the gate.

avatar

Hehe, it sure does.
And it's interesting to watch.

Of course that very correct most women sacrifice a lot of their funds, care, time and energy to men and in the end they only receive heart breaks.very bad I must say.

Its sad, we women deserve better, and why it's wise we should not lose ourselves during a marriage.
