Greetings, friends. The other day, I had the pleasure of seeing Fantastic Four at the cinema. When I saw the new Superman movie, I made a keychain and shared it on my blog to celebrate that film.

Well, although I will also make a Fantastic Four craft project later on, I would now like to share with you a more personal opinion about the movie, as I feel it is one of the best Marvel movies and the best movie featuring these characters.

Saludos amigos. El otro día tuve la dicha de poder ver a los 4 fantásticos en Cine. Cuando también vi la nueva película de Superman, hice un llavero y lo compartí en mi blog, para celebrar esa película.

Pues bien, aunque también haré una manualidad de los 4 fantásticos más adelante, ahora me gustaría compartir con ustedes una opinión más personal sobre la película, pues siento que es una de las mejores películas de Marvel y la mejor película de estos personajes.

Space explorers

When I think of the Fantastic Four from the comics, two things come to mind: space explorers and family. The first is something that is always associated with them, since it was in space that they obtained their powers.

In the movie, I expected some space adventures in flashbacks, but no, it turns out that despite being set in a retro-futuristic world, there is a lot of technology, such as intergalactic travel, speeds faster than light, teleportation, and so on.

Although space exploration as such is not shown, there is a brief adventure in space related to Silver Surfer. This scene is one of the best space scenes in a Marvel movie. In fact, it felt like watching a scene from Interstellar, when Cooper tries to escape the black hole.

It's a visually stunning scene to watch in the theater, so I must say at this point that it's a movie that you absolutely must see in the theater.

Exploradores espaciales

Yo recuerdo a los cuatro fantásticos de los comics y pienso en dos cosas, exploradores espaciales y familia. Lo primero es algo que siempre está ligado con ellos, ya que precisamente fue en el espacio donde obtuvieron sus poderes.

En la película me esperaba alguna que otra aventura en el espacio en algún flash back, pero no, resulta que a pesar de estar ambientada en un mundo retrofuturista, hay un montón de tecnología, como viajes intergalácticos, velocidades superiores a la de la luz, teletransportación y demás.

Aunque no se muestran exploraciones espaciales como tal, sí se muestra una breve aventura en el espacio que está relacionada con Silver Surfer. Esta escena es una de las mejores escenas del espacio de una película de Marvel, de hecho sentí que veía una escena Interestelar, cuando Cooper intenta escapar del agujero negro.

Es una escena visualmente impresionante vista en el cine, por lo que debo decir en este punto que es una película que sí o sí se debe ver en el cine.

Family

Now, if you're looking for a movie like Guardians of the Galaxy, you won't find it here. From the very beginning, it's clear that this is a very personal film, focused on the characters, their fears, insecurities, joys, and relationships.

If you think about it, everything revolves around Franklin Richard (Sue and Reed's son), who is one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Universe in the comics. The movie begins with the news that Sue is pregnant and ends with Franklin himself... I won't tell you, it's a spoiler.

But yes, everything revolves around caring for the baby, Sue's concern for her son, and Reed thinking about how to protect the world, his son, his relationship with Sue, and the other members of the team, all at the same time.

Although it's a slow-paced film at times, it allows us to see something that hasn't been seen in other films: a real family. It's no coincidence that the Fantastic Four are known as Marvel's first family, and this is something that is emphasized in the film over and over again.

Familia

Ahora bien, si vienen buscando una película en plan Guardianes de la Galáxia, no, no la van a encontrar. Desde el comienzo de la misma te hacen ver que es una película muy personal, que está enfocada en los personajes, sus miedos, inseguridades, alegrías y relaciones.

Si lo piensan bien, todo gira en torno a Franklin Richard (el hijo de Sue y Reed), que es uno de los personajes más poderosos del Universo Marvel en los comics. Comienza la película con la noticia de que Sue está embarazada y termina la película con el mismo Franklin... No te lo diré, es spoiler.

Pero sí, todo gira en torno al cuidado del bebé, la preocupación de Sue por su hijo y Reed pensando en cómo proteger al mundo, a su hijo, su relación con Sue y a los demás miembros del equipo, todo al mismo tiempo.

Aunque es una película de ritmo lento, por momentos, nos permite ver algo que no se había visto en otras películas, una familia real. No por nada a los cuatro fantásticos se les conoce como la primera familia de Marvel y esto algo que se recalca en la película una y otra vez.

Characters

• Johnny Storm: He's not one of my favorite characters from the Fantastic Four, but this Johnny has something interesting about him. You see, in the comics, he's not known for being very intelligent. However, considering that he's an astronaut, it makes sense that in the movie they give him enough intelligence to figure out certain things on his own that are very important for further developing the character of Silver Surfer.
  
  He has a very pleasant personality, he's not annoying at all, and he doesn't constantly tease Ben (the hulk/the thing). However, he still has a tendency to do things that his friends don't like. His relationship with Sue is what you would expect from a brother and sister, and with Reed... although it's not shown much on screen, you can see that he's always looking for ways to annoy him.
  
  
  

• Ben Grimm (The Thing): He's my favorite character out of the four main characters. When I saw how they had portrayed him in the trailers, I loved him right away. It was as if they had taken him straight out of the comic book, without adding any directorial interpretations or anything that made him look slightly different from what he was in his early designs.
  
  Now, speaking of his personality, it's clear that he's one of the most heartfelt characters. At the beginning, he's the first to realize that Sue is pregnant, and he always observes with a look that conveys a lot, even though his face is like stone. He's charismatic with children, and people are drawn to him despite his appearance, which indicates that his personality must be very appealing.
  
  
  

Personajes

• Johnny Storm: no es de mis personajes favoritos de los 4 fantásticos, pero este Johnny tiene algo interesante. Verán, en los comics no es alguien que se caracterice por ser muy inteligente. Sin embargo, al considerar que es astronauta, tiene lógica que en la película le den un punto de inteligencia lo suficientemente grande, como para descifrar por si mismo ciertas cosas que son muy importantes para dar mayor desarrollo de personaje a Silver Surfer.
  
  Es muy simpático en cuanto a personalidad, no es del todo irritante ni le gasta bromas a cada rato a Ben (la mole/la cosa). Sin embargo, aún mantiene ese toque al hacer cosas que no le gustan a sus amigos. Su relación con Sue es la que se esperaría de un hermano con una hermana y con Reed pues... aunque no se muestra mucho en pantalla, se ve que siempre busca molestarlo de alguna manera.
  
  
  

• Ben Grimm (La mole/La Cosa): es mi personaje favorito de los 4 protagonistas. Al ver cómo lo habían hecho en los tráiler, me encantó a la primera, era como si lo hubiesen sacado directamente del comic, sin agregar interpretaciones de director ni nada que lo hiciera ver ligeramente distinto de lo que era en sus primeros diseños.
  
  Ahora, hablando de su personalidad, es evidente que es uno de los que tiene más corazón. Al comienzo, es el primero en darse cuenta de que Sue estaba embarazada, siempre observa con una mirada que transmite mucho, aunque su rostro sea de piedra. Es carismático con los niños, las personas se sienten atraídas a él a pesar de su apariencia, lo que indica que su personalidad debe ser algo que atrae mucho.

• Reed Richards: This is undoubtedly a difficult character to portray because there are several aspects to consider when bringing him to life in live action. However, regardless of whether you like Pedro Pascal or not, this Reed Richards is the Reed Richards of the comics in terms of his behavior and personality.
  
  It reminds me of what Reed Richards did in Civil War in the comics. He sided with Iron Man when the Superhuman Registration Act was created. In other words, he agreed that the actions of some superheroes should be monitored and controlled because it was the logical thing to do. He even provided technology to imprison superheroes who were against this registration in another dimension.
  
  With that precedent, there is a point in the film where we see that Reed, despite being “good,” shows that in his calculations there is always the possibility of doing things that are not so “good” simply because they are the logical or mathematically correct decision. Even so, he cares deeply about his family, seeking alternatives to these not-so-good decisions, doing everything possible to try to save them all, always relying on his friends to achieve his goals.
  
  
  

• Sue Storm: She is the soul of the film. She is one of those mothers who make you see that having a child is something beautiful. She is the one who, on several occasions, helped keep the team focused when everyone else was lost. She is even given the role of peacemaker between the human world and the underground world. She is a character who, if you ask me, is the undisputed leader of the Fantastic Four, because when Reed says something, if Sue doesn't approve, he won't do it.
  
  Thinking about Sue, I realized that she is the beautiful and protective side of a mother in the UCM, since when compared to other mothers (Wanda, for example), she would do everything possible to protect her child, but also to protect others, even if that means doing unthinkable things, but without crossing the boundaries of what is considered morally good.
  
  
  

• Reed Richards: Sin duda, se trata de un personaje difícil de interpretar, ya que hay varios aspectos que hay que tener en cuenta a la hora de darle vida en una película de acción real. Sin embargo, independientemente de si te gusta Pedro Pascal o no, este Reed Richards es el Reed Richards de los cómics en cuanto a su comportamiento y personalidad.
  
  Me recuerda a lo que hizo Reed Richards en Civil War, en los cómics. Se puso del lado de Iron Man cuando se creó la Ley de Registro de Superhumanos. En otras palabras, estuvo de acuerdo en que las acciones de algunos superhéroes debían ser supervisadas y controladas porque era lo lógico. Incluso proporcionó tecnología para encarcelar en otra dimensión a los superhéroes que se oponían a este registro.
  
  Con ese precedente, hay un punto en la película en la que se ve que Reed, a pesar de ser "bueno", hace ver que en sus calculos siempre existe la posibilidad de hacer cosas no tan "buenas" por simplemente ser la decisión lógica o matemáticamente correcta. Aún así, se preocupa en gran manera por su familia, buscando alternativas a estas decisiones no tan buenas, haciendo lo imposible por intentar salvarlos a todos, siempre apoyándose en sus amigos para lograr sus objetivos.
  
  
  

• Sue Storm: es el alma de la película. Es de esas madres que te hacen ver que tener un hijo es algo hermoso. Es la que en varias ocasiones sirvió para mantener al equipo enfocado, cuando todos estaban perdidos. Incluso, se le da un rol de pacificadora entre el mundo humano y subterránea (el mundo bajo la tierra). Es un personaje que, si a mi me lo preguntan, es la líder indiscutible de los 4 fantásticos, ya que cuando Reed dice algo, si Sue no lo aprueba, él no lo haría.
  
  Pensando en Sue, me di cuenta que es el lado bonito y protector de una madre en el UCM, ya que si se compara con otras madres (Wanda, Por ejemplo). esta haría todo lo posible por proteger a su hijo, pero también por proteger a los demás, incluso si eso significa hacer cosas impensables, pero sin traspasar los límites de lo que se considera moralmente bueno.

• Silver Surfer: The adaptations of these two characters are truly faithful to the comics. The presence of Shalla-Bal (Silver Surfer) upon arriving on the planet is simply impressive. You truly feel fear with his warning because you know what is coming and his power, although somewhat diminished, is certainly faithful to the powers he had in the original works.
  
  

• Galactus: Remember how I said at the beginning that this movie is a must-see in theaters? Well, Galactus is one of the reasons why you should see it in theaters at least once. His presence on screen is impressive. He's nothing like that shapeless cloud that appeared in other adaptations; he's really faithful to the comics, both in terms of story and physical appearance. Of course, for the sake of the plot, he had to be toned down a bit, otherwise there would have been no fantasy left standing and he would have eaten the earth if we had seen Galactus unleashed. There has to be continuity for the next Avengers movies...
  
  

• Franklin Richards: If you've read the comics about this character, you might have an idea of how important he is. Although he's a baby for most of the movie, I like to think that the Fantastic Four and Franklin Richards came to save the Marvel universe.
  
  
  

• Silver Surfer: las adaptaciones de estos dos personajes es realmente fiel a los comics. La presencia de Shalla-Bal (Silver Surfer) al llegar al planeta es simplemente impresionante, realmente sientes miedo con su advertencia porque sabes lo que viene y su poder, aunque es un poco disminuido, ciertamente es fiel a los poderes que tenía en las obras originales.
  
  

• Galactus: ¿Recuerdan que al comienzo dije que esta película sí o sí se debe ver en el Cine? Pues Galactus es uno de los motivos por el que se debe ver en el cine al menos una vez. Es impresionante su presencia en escena. No tiene nada que ver con aquella nube sin forma que se presentó en otras adaptaciones, es algo realmente fiel a los comics, tanto en historia como en apariencia física. Aunque claro, por el bien de la trama, se tuvo que nerfear un poco, de lo contrario, no habría quedado ningún fantástico en pie y se habría comido la tierra de haber visto un Galactus desatado. Tiene que haber continuidad para las próximas películas de vengadores...
  
  

• Franklin Richards: si han leído los comics de este personaje, tal vez tengan una idea de lo importante que es. Aunque es un bebé en gran parte de la película, me gusta pensar que los 4 fantásticos y Franklin Richard vinieron a salvar al universo Marvel.
  
  

Final opinion

It's a great adaptation. Anyone who has read any Fantastic Four comics will see that it is a faithful adaptation of these characters, who have NOT been done justice in other installments. They are established heroes loved by everyone, explorers, scientists, daredevils, but above all, a family.

Opinión final

Es una gran adaptación. Para todo aquel que haya leído algún Comic de los 4 fantásticos, verá que hay una fiel adaptación a estos personajes a los que NO se le ha hecho justicia en otras entregas. Son héroes ya establecidos y queridos por todo el mundo, exploradores, científicos, temerários, pero por sobre todo, una familia.
