Hola amigos de making of y amantes del cine en general. Me complace realizar mi primer post por acá. Hace tan solo algunos meses la conformación de esta comunidad era tan solo una idea, hoy me alegra que se haya materializado como un espacio educativo y de retroalimentación, ser parte de la escuela de cine de @peinetaspro es una gran responsabilidad y honor, estoy bastante orgullosa de todo este proceso.

Hello friends of making of and movie lovers in general. I am pleased to make my first post here. Just a few months ago the creation of this community was just an idea, today I'm glad it has materialized as an educational and feedback space, being part of the @peinetaspro film school is a great responsibility and honor, I'm quite proud of this whole process.

Hoy en mi primer post les contaré sobre una experiencia que tuvo gran importancia para mí a nivel personal y profesional, en el 2023 tuve mi primera participación como parte del crew de una película, quienes estudiamos cine sabemos que este es un hecho de suma importancia que marca un antes y un después en nuestras vidas. De verdad que fue una experiencia que valoro muchísimo y espero pronto volver a conectar de esta manera con mi profesión. Podría decirse que está fue mí primera participación de peso dentro del medio cinematográfico aunque anteriormente había estado presente en la realización de diversas producciones a nivel académico.

Today in my first post I will tell you about an experience that had great importance for me personally and professionally, in 2023 I had my first participation as part of the crew of a film, those of us who studied film know that this is a very important fact that marks a before and after in our lives. Truly, it was an experience that I value very much and I hope soon to reconnect in this way with my profession. It could be said that this was my first important participation in the film industry, although I had previously been present in the realization of various productions at the academic level.

Fuí parte de un programa de formación impulsado por el CNAC que busca relacionar a los estudiantes con el medio cinematográfico, vinculandolos con la producción de un film, ya para esta fecha han habido varias cortes, yo fuí parte de la primera. Ingresé en un grupo de 20 personas entre estudiantes y profesionales del área que eran parte del programa. Durante dos semanas tuvimos reuniones donde nos pusimos al día con lo que se llevaba hasta el momento de la preproducción de la película, durante este tiempo la producción decidió a qué área asignaría a cada uno de nosotros.

I was part of a training program promoted by the CNAC that seeks to link students with the film industry, linking them with the production of a film, and by this date there have been several cuts, I was part of the first. I joined a group of 20 people between students and professionals in the area that were part of the program. During two weeks we had meetings where we caught up with what was being done up to the moment of the pre-production of the film, during this time the production decided to which area they would assign each one of us.

Estuve trabajando en el área de dirección como script asistente, este es un rol poco común en el Cine, generalmente el script no tiene un asistente, es una tarea que se realiza individualmente. En esta ocasión hubo una excepción ya que se trataba de la primera película de esta script, y era bastante complicado asumir sola este rol de tan grande magnitud.

I was working in the directing area as assistant script, this is an uncommon role in film, usually the script does not have an assistant, it is a task that is performed individually. On this occasion there was an exception because it was the first film of this script and it was quite complicated to assume alone this role of such a great magnitude.

"Julia Tiene Sugar" así se llama la película. Es una típica comedia romántica, llevada a un contexto de cotidianidad Venezolana y nutrida por un gran elenco colombiano. Es protagonizada por Jorge Reyes y Alejandra Sandoval, quienes además son productores ejecutivos de el film, en la dirección estuvo José Antonio Varela y en la gerencia de producción Vladimir Sosa Sarabia, ambos, profesores de cine.

“Julia Tiene Sugar” is the name of the movie. It is a typical romantic comedy, taken to a Venezuelan everyday context and nurtured by a great Colombian cast. It stars Jorge Reyes and Alejandra Sandoval, who are also executive producers of the film, directed by José Antonio Varela and production manager Vladimir Sosa Sarabia, both film professors.

Los primeros días que estuve en set la verdad me parecía algo surreal, estar compartiendo el mismo espacio de trabajo con personas que tienen tantos años en el medio, sin duda resulta un choque para un estudiante que apenas ha participado en algunos cortometrajes estudiantiles. Pude adaptarme rápido al equipo, no fue tan fácil llevar el ritmo al principio, pero la segunda semana todo se volvió más llevadero. Ser parte del crew de una película es como estar en una escuela (pero 100 %práctica) se aprende demasiado en un set de este nivel. Todos deben saber que hacer y cuando hacerlo, no se puede andar perdido por allí, si no estás haciendo nada probablemente estas de más en la producción.

The first days I was on set, it seemed surreal to me, to be sharing the same work space with people who have so many years in the industry, it is certainly a shock for a student who has just participated in a few student short films. I was able to adapt quickly to the team, it was not so easy to keep up with the rhythm at the beginning, but the second week everything became more bearable. Being part of the crew of a film is like being in a school (but 100% practical) you learn a lot on a set of this level. Everyone has to know what to do and when to do it, you can't just wander around lost, if you're not doing anything you're probably over doing it in the production.

Siempre trabajamos con dos cámaras en el set, era un guión de 98 páginas y el plan de rodaje estaba establecido para cuatro semanas, un verdadero reto, por esta misma razón siempre grabamos con estas dos camaras, de esta forma el proceso se agilizaba bastante y lograbamos rodar un estimado de 5 páginas de guión por día. Al haber dos camaras debían haber dos monitores también, aquí era donde mi rol cobraba sentido, pues yo siempre debía visualizar uno de los dos monitores y estar en comunicación con la script principal. Verificar La continuidad de un film nos obliga a expandir nuestra atención a todas las áreas, una de las figuras en el set que más conocimientos y criterio debe tener sobre la historia es el Script, de el depende la coherencia, el ritmo, la fluidez de la puesta en escena. Y allí estábamos nosotras bajo esa gran responsabilidad y como esponjas absorbieron cada consejo que nos daban.

We always worked with two cameras on the set, it was a 98 page script and the shooting schedule was set for four weeks, a real challenge, for this reason we always shot with these two cameras, this way the process was quite agile and we managed to shoot an estimated 5 pages of script per day. As there were two cameras there had to be two monitors as well, this is where my role made sense, as I always had to visualize one of the two monitors and be in communication with the main script. Verify The continuity of a film forces us to expand our attention to all areas, one of the figures on the set that must have more knowledge and criteria is the Script, the coherence, the rhythm, the fluidity of the staging depends on him. And there we were under that great responsibility and like sponges we absorbed every piece of advice we were given.

Así transcurrieron cuatro semanas, dónde el aprendizaje fué continuo y dónde tuve que enfrentarme a miedos e innumerables dificultades, habíamos concluido exitosamente con 98 páginas de guión, trabajamos con un maravilloso elenco y un equipo técnico extraordinario. El último día de rodaje hubo una fiesta de despedida que tuvo lugar en las Mercedes, no recuerdo exactamente el nombre del lugar pero sé que se había reservado una terraza con barra libre para el equipo y casualmente llovió ese día jejeje, igual lo disfrutamos bastante, pudimos despedirnos a gusto.

So four weeks went by, where learning was continuous and where I had to face fears and countless difficulties, we had successfully concluded with 98 pages of script, we worked with a wonderful cast and an extraordinary technical team. The last day of shooting there was a farewell party that took place in Las Mercedes, I don't remember exactly the name of the place but I know that a terrace had been reserved with an open bar for the crew and it happened to rain that day hehehe, we still enjoyed it a lot, we could say goodbye at ease.

Después de esta gran experiencia, se abrieron otras puertas, trabajé en diversos cortometrajes como luminito y el año pasado tuve la dicha de coincidir en la comunidad de Bellas Artes con @peinetaspro, gracias a mi amigo @mundomanaure, un espacio que me ha brindado mucho aprendizaje, un equipo de grandes artistas que trabajan de manera impecable y que hoy considero mis amigos y compañeros de trabajo. Sin más que agregar espero que esté post haya sido del agrado de todos por acá, atesoro bastante está experiencia, nos vemos en una próxima oportunidad.

After this great experience, other doors opened, I worked on several short films as luminito and last year I had the joy of coinciding in the community of Bellas Artes with @peinetaspro, thanks to my friend @mundomanaure, a space that has given me a lot of learning, a team of great artists who work impeccably and that today I consider my friends and co-workers.without more to add I hope this post has been liked by everyone here, I treasure this experience, see you in a next opportunity.
